"I still can't believe no one's stolen you from me yet" Ember's mother commented as she ate.
"I don't understand what you mean..."
"back when you were in grade school, you had so many boys walking you home. I thought you'd have a boyfriend by now" She set the empty bowl aside "I think I remember that boy downstairs asking about you, I think his name was Su Lee"
"Mom, your over thinking it, he's just a friend-"
"Oh, well he called earlier and asked if you'd like to go to a party... You know it wouldn't hurt if you went out to go and have some fun. You could bring Lu Singlin too"
Ember picked up the empty bowls and set them in the kitchen. She came back into her mother's room and sat on her bed. With a sigh, she answered.
"If it'd make you feel better then sure, I'll go"
"I'm going to sleep for a bit..."
"Okay Mom, goodnight"
Ember turned the light out before she left out. After grabbing her phone and dialing Lu Singlin's number, she looked through her closet for something to wear.
"Hey, linlin. You remember that party you were talking about earlier? I changed my mind"
"It's about time, Hurry up I'm already parked outside"
"Wha-"
"It was your mom's idea. C'mon I got you a dress and everything. I even got that Lee kid in the car-"
"Kid? I'm older than both of you"
"Yeah, sure. So let's go"
"where am I gonna change anyway?"
"In the car. I'll cover Lee's eyes, don't worry"
Ember hung up, shaking her head. She grabbed a pair of flats from her room before she headed downstairs.

The party was held at a park in the center of S city. It was open to the general public, but the main event was invite only. Mayor Hou approached the dark haired Evan Donvan, In his usual black tie attire.
"Evan Donvan, it's nice to see you again. How is your father, may I ask?"
"He is doing well, Mr. Hou" Evan answered
"I don't believe I've ever introduced you to my daughter" He said
She was tall, in a reddish colored dress with short black hair. Evan mearly glanced at her before diverting his attention back to his drink.
"It's a pleasure Miss Hou" Evan said dryly.
"You can call me Yuii. Miss Hou sounds like your speaking of my sister" She said expectantly. Evan grunted in response. "There are going to be fireworks later on, will you accompany me to watch, Evan?" Yuii asked
As she said this, a few people passed behind her.
"Come on Em, if we're going to get a good spot to see the fireworks we have to get there early"
"Linlin, they're not going to start for another hour or so"
"I agree with Lu Singlin, there are alot of people there already..."
"Fine, I guess we can go right now"
In a simple purple colored dress, Ember walked by the three sitting by the bar. The three of them never noticed the attention their group was getting.
"Evan?"
"I would ve a pleasure, miss Hou" He answered, His eyes never leaving Ember's Group. He said this but his mind was elsewhere.
"Great! Come on. I want to get something to eat before it starts" Yuii said
Barely even listening the the girl anymore, Evan was lost in his own thoughts. 'What just happened?'
