Chapter 1 - What Am I If Not Myself

It all started back then when the stars made the earth and man came to the planet. It all started when tribes where formed tension was raised. It all started when man founded villages. It all started from a single one in England and this is it's story.

—12th Century England—

King Frank II was looking down from the castle that was his home. He gazed toward the black sky, full of a myriad of glistening stars, he swayed back and forth as if in a trance, but was still, staring at the stars. It was as if they were something special, it was as if they were something powerful, and he was right... They were. This phenomenon spread across the Uk and to nearby European countries. It was revolutionary.

—16th Century England—

Cameron was thrown out of the village as an outcast, the sin he commuted terrible, and his future looking poor. Cameron was just a boy of eighteen who had forsaken the stars around him and been thrown out. Even his own star had rejected him.

Stars were an important part of society as they let people access powers given to them by a star chose them. A star could give up to two powers and the powers could be anything from telekinesis to flight. They were found by King Frank II during the crusades and were a backbone of the country from then on.

Cameron was thrown out of his village because he rejected the star that chose him but that wasn't the worst of it. That was a star with the powers of Space, the most powerful of gifting a that one could receive and it was flat out rejected by the arrogant youth who said he didn't need it.

Cameron lay on the ground in a daze as his head still hurt from the impact to the solid stone pathway that he had landed on outside of the village.

He looked into the endless, black night sky and wondered if he would ever find a home again.

Cameron marched along the road into the forest accompanied by the sound of owls calling out to one another and creatures scurrying along the forest bed.

He had now walked for a while and had come to a grove of birch trees, enticing him to go inside of the grove to the illuminated patch in the centre.

As Cameron was tired and his feet were aching, he decided to walk in and see what was inside and if it could help him out. He hoped that it was no animal or beast as he had no bow to hunt it and no power to protect him.

He stepped into the grove and was surrounded by a strange light that let out a kaleidoscope of colours, all so beautiful, so full of energy and so pure, that anyone could have been hypnotised with a quick glance.

At the centre was an empty space, easily overseen through the colours, but it was there. Cameron noticed it and stepped through the array of colours to the centre where he found himself looking at a certain star.

The star he was focused on was a small one, it was quiet compared to the other boisterous stars shining brightly to attract attention and flaunt there blazing cores. The star itself looked nice and glimmered a bit when it was looked at by Cameron.

And before Cameron knew it, he heard a voice in his head like he had when the first star contacted him. It spoke to him in a soothing, gentle voice which rushed over him like a nice zephyr.

It spoke "I have chosen you, the outcast, the one who rejected ultimate power, I have chosen you as the host of my power. Please accept as I am only a humble star doing my job."

"What can you give to me that the other star couldn't?" Asked Cameron

"My powers are only humble but there are two of them, Wind and Time, I hope you can accept this"

"Then I can graciously accept theses powers, not because of the two, but because you are humble and your powers are as humble as you, therefore I gladly accept"

"Thank you for accepting, my name is Asphodite"

Cameron felt a power rush through his body, entering every nook and cranny, flowing through him like a stream of water. He breathed in and out, letting the power store in his body until he felt a ding in his head saying that the star is now embedded into his conscious.

Open my star profile, Cameron said to the star and a screen appeared in-front of him showing his star stats

Cameron looked at his stats in awe, this was his first time experiencing such an amazing thing. Even if people saw this everyday and that it was the norm Cameron still though it was amazing.

He decided to sleep in the grove for the night, so that he had an actual place to sleep where he may not be eaten by the wolves in the forest.

...

Cameron awoke to a deer grazing next to him, which was startled by his awakening and ran away. He stretched and got up to find a river to wash himself and for a drink.

He wondered along, under the trees, and came across a river at the forests edge. It's water glistened and sparkled, with fish of all kind hopping around and getting on with their daily lives.

Cameron instantly reaches for the cool water and splashed it over his face, waking him up, and jumped in to have a clean.

After that he drank some and was one his way. But he wasn't sure where he would go.

Where shall I do Asphodite? Cameron questioned in his head

"I would recommend going to the Howling Cliffs, as it can help you with the Star Power, which will also reduce risks of you dying."

Thank you, Cameron thought.

And so he headed off, but not to the Howling Cliffs, but to the nearest place he could get a map, so he went to London.

Cameron set off to London and the journey was vey boring and Cameron nearly died of boredom, and boars.

At London Cameron was standing at the city walls, the twelve metre high walls towered above him and casting a shadow over him.

Cameron entered the town and went in search of a map or a place that sold them, and wondered the streets for ages, combing through every shop but only finding one early in the morning the next day.

Cameron was grouchy and tired so when he found the shop he was instantly happy and asked to buy one.

"Can I have a full country map?"

"Of course, that'll be 3 pence"

"Ummm, I can't pay that, i just realised I don't have any money..."

"Then get out of my shop you brat!" He angrily yelled

Cameron was tired and grumpy and this shopkeeper was really getting on his nerves, so he looked at the country map he had in hand and ran.

He crashed through the door, followed by the cussing shopkeeper, and asked his star If he could increase his speed?

"Would you like to make a move with Wind, Time or both?" Asphodite asked

Wind Cameron answered

"Ok, 'Wind-step' has been created, you will double your speed if used"

Cameron used 'Wind-Step' and felt a rush of energy go to his feet and they went faster and faster until he was running so quickly all had been left behind.

Cameron saw the city gates and rushed towards them, putting all his effort into it, he was nearly there and Bang. He stopped. He fell. And if you were looking close enough you could see a glowing forcefield around him.

This was the power of the top protector of London. And he was the strongest man in a twenty mile radius.
