Chapter 684 - The Ark Of One Last Wish, Waiting For Paradise

The Knight looked shocked; how could Rina have known about his final wish before he passed on?! That's right... Bedivere didn't last long for some utopia or paradise as it was only a dream meant for those who have died valiantly in battle.

All the Knight of Loyalty longed to see his King's smile again. But he didn't show too much emotion because the King had to put up front for the people to assure their trust in him. Some said it was nearly inhuman, but Bedivere didn't care.

Throughout his service to King Arthur, Bedivere had only seen the King smile once before the battle of Camlann. But, maybe... This whole plan was bound to fail from the beginning... The Flower Mage was right; why should he continue to work for a dream that would never come true for himself?

Why would he endure the pain of seeing his beloved King die again? As if once was not enough? As his will and reason returned to him, Bedivere could not help but cry at the pain and ignorance of his actions. He had been given a second chance to walk the world, and he chose to kill...

He shouldn't be deserving of a Knight's title, but... Rina's words echoed through his mind of being the Knight of Loyalty, even wishing for him to be at peace in the paradise that the Round Table of Knight fought so hard for... And Avalon was waiting with open gates...

Despite being a Blackened version of Sir Bedivere, the Knight began to shine in bright gold as Rina pulled away from him. The Flower Mage bit her lip as Bedivere drew up to full height and smiled at Rina while holding his arms out.

"I hope we can have tea together..." said the smiling Knight as he reverted to his natural appearance when he had been alive.

Rina reached out for the fading Knight but paused as she remembered that Bedivere was their enemy and shouldn't deserve a... To hell with it, thought the Flower Mage as she sprang towards the disappearing Knight and hugged him.

Bryan and Ashley looked on with amazement but said nothing as Rina gave the enemy an embrace. Bedivere was shocked, but he couldn't say anything as he entirely faded into golden dust. The Flower Mage stood there, looking at her hands that held the Knight's fake arm.

Bryan was the first to run over to Rina to see if she was okay or had sustained any injuries. But all he could see was a maiden with tears streaming down her cheeks and onto the arm she was holding.

"They don't deserve this pain to be brought back to life... They should've been laid to rest during their time... They are so confused and helpless now... All Bedivere wanted was to be beside his King again... Why is fate so cruel to those who truly earned their fruits of labor?!" cried Rina.

Bryan allowed the Flower Mage to bury her face into his chest as he tried his best to comfort the heartbroken girl. Although she had boasted that she was several centuries older than him, Bryan knew that Rina wasn't too good at handling emotions and tragedies.

Whereas, throughout the Slayer's short life, he had seen so many tragedies and sorrows that he was primarily numb to see people in tears and begging for forgiveness. It didn't matter if you've walked the place for a hundred years or a few decades... It's about the experience.

Ashley looked away as he allowed the Flower Mage to cry her heart out. After a few Tocks, Rina felt weak throughout her body since she had overused her powers for a short period. Bryan sensed something was wrong with the girl and quickly scooped her into his arms.

"You look like you are about to fall over anytime, so I'll carry you like this until we reach some form of civilization... Anyways, how'd you appear in the middle of a desert?!" asked Bryan, disliking that Rina had been battling in such a barren wasteland.

"You can thank Gillian's spell for being so accurate that it landed me right into Bedivere's path. As for the nearest building, good luck trying to find it because we've moved a distance from our spot due to the intensity of our battle..." explained Rina, with her voice trailing off at the end.

"It's alright; you can rest while we get out of this wasteland..."

"How'd you find me?" asked Rina.

"Well, Ashley found me first, and when we wanted to head back to the Old Chapel by calling the Headmaster, Mavislin forced Ashley to appear to your aid. And because I had a hand on his shoulder, I went along for the ride. Though I must say, I will be doing that again..."
