Easy, by doing what he was known for as a Blood Mastery user, enhance his limbs so that no spear can draw blood from his flesh. Duncan clenched his fists and allowed the Ankou to help him in the fight.
"Hehehe... That's more like the Little Lord I know... Very well, you have my power to use to your advantage. But this glorious power isn't for free, you know..."
"I've already allowed you to fight in my body and use my mind to sleep... What more do you want?" asked Duncan, in disbelief that the Ankou was demanding payment.
"It's a simple task for you to do. I want you to win this battle with everything you've got using the power and memories I'm giving you."
Now it was finally Duncan's turn to laugh, shocking the Ankou.
"Of all the things that you could ask for... You chose the most obvious thing I'm going to do with your power?! Of course, I'm going to win against this opponent! If I don't, then Mother Mav will never see me as a good warrior," said Duncan, smiling.
Nasima sensed something was amiss as Duncan halted his advance. But, as Nasima decided to make the first move, everything was still for a Tick. The child of winds leaped up at the still boy and spun her spear several times before grabbing it in a jousting manner.
Nasima added a bit of Elemental Energy into the thrust as she threw the spear toward Duncan. As the spear neared the boy, Duncan merely grinned as he held up his scythe and proceeded to slice through the weapon vertically.
The boy barely moved a muscle as the divided weapon zoomed past the sides of his head and destroyed the ground behind the kid. Everything happened so quickly that even Midori nor Circe could figure out what had happened.
Ashley was impressed at the boy's skill, while Tomoe wanted to find out the scythe's material. But Bryan knew precisely what Duncan was holding... The Slayer was initially skeptical, but the trick Duncan had pulled off confirmed that weapon's true identity.
"A death scythe... How did a mere child get his hands on such a weapon?" asked Bryan, as he threw up a shield for himself.
Bryan vividly remembers facing a death scythe, a downright terrifying thing to ever battle against since that weapon can cut through anything. That giant thing can even split the planet if the wielder is upset enough.
Had Bryan not fled from the scene after getting his rifle sliced in half, he was pretty sure he would be on the chopping block at the next move. After all, the Slayer was up against the Grim Reaper, the being responsible for taking the living into the realm of the dead.
On the opposite side, the Ankou was wary about Bryan Verna Orlaith, the Slayer of the Barren PIllars, ever since Duncan first met him. The Ankou knew he saw Bryan somewhere during his time as an active Grim Reaper many moons ago, but he couldn't remember when.
"Hey... Why are you so angry suddenly?" asked Duncan, concerned that the Ankou was glaring daggers at Bryan during his fight against Nasima.
"I have no clue either... But I'm afraid I know that person, and we've crossed paths. It's just that I can't remember... Either that or the person was so unimpressionable during our first meeting that I completely forgot about him..." mumbled the Ankou, fumbling around his lockets.
"And Mother Mav was impressionable?"
"Hey, Mavislin was an adorable child, and her mother was an Empress of a being that could trample Earth in a matter of Ticks, so of course, they'll have a lasting impression on my memories! But the same can't be said for the other way 'round since Valkyries have giant memory spaces."
"Nope, Mavislin still remembers you. Maybe you've got bad memory? You are the Grim Reaper, so you must've seen so many people throughout your job... Maybe Bryan was someone that fought against you when you needed to fulfill your duties?"
The Ankou stopped moving his lockets and stared at Duncan before staring at a locket. The Reaper looked even more furious than before. Duncan widened his eyes when the Ankou summoned the full version of the Death Scythe into his hand. The boy was too stunned to speak.
The death scythe that Duncan could use was small compared to the Ankou's actual soul-reaping weapon. Next, Duncan's scythe was light and couldn't do much damage as opposed to the Ankou's weapon, which can slice a mountain in half without too much effort.
"Uhh... Have you remembered why you hate Bryan so much to the point you've summoned your weapon?" asked Duncan, afraid that the Ankou might take over his body to murder the Slayer.
