Chapter 620 - The Ark Of Gale Of Victory, Anger Of The Ankou

"Yes... And I wished that I didn't do it because now I knew why I hate his face so much... That Slayer Pillar was the one who destroyed my past lover's orphanage and broke into it to kill all the kids inside the building. After finding out what had happened, I was rushed to the scene."

"But when I got there, my job was to reap the children's souls, and my past lover, out of madness and grief, doused herself in alcohol and set herself ablaze. I couldn't interfere with living humans and their choices to commit suicide, so I stood there and did nothing."

"After collecting the souls, I hunted for the group responsible for doing that atrocious act, only to find that it was some teenage boy following instructions from an unknown person. And then, I found him, Verna, wielding a rifle that still held some bloodstains from the orphans he killed."

"When we met, the person was smart enough to initiate a conversation with me, pretending nothing had happened. But when I bombarded him with questions about the orphanage he had just bombed... I sliced his rifle the same way you divided that spear."

"Bryan ran off, with his tail tucked in between his legs! I could laugh at how pathetic he looked that night! But... I am truly pissed off that I have to cross paths with him again... And it would seem that he hasn't got the faintest clue on who I am," growled the Ankou.

Bryan could feel an unwelcomed presence lurking within Duncan during the times that the child of Darkness was showing drawing upon the Reaper's powers. The Slayer knew something was up, but he didn't want any trouble with Duncan, especially since the kid was under Baldwin's protection.

Returning to the battle of the arena, Nasima quickly pulled herself together and summoned another spear to compensate for her broken weapon. But before she could start, Duncan appeared in front of her, holding the scythe above his shoulder and ready to reap Nasima's soul.

But being the most agile of the group, the child of winds ducked and swiped at Duncan's feet by grabbing his ankles to cause him to fall. Or at least attempted to, as Duncan merely lifted his left leg to kick Nasima away.

It wasn't too powerful of a kick, just enough to create a distance between the two fighters. Nasima quickly got up and threw her left arm upwards to the sky.

"O' flag of mine, raise it high! Feel the winds, conquer the storms! May my heart be true; my will is forever unwavering! This is the power of the Hundred Years' War of Orleans... Draw upon the power of the Holy Saint of France. Hoist the colors high upon the battlefield!" shouted Nasima.

The air levels began to dip as Nasima started to suck up the air within the battlefield. Usually, Duncan would be wheezing and coughing due to his lungs being the weakest of the five children. But the Ankou partially took over Duncan's body so the boy could breathe.

"Once you've learned to control your Elemental Energy, physical ailments such as not getting enough air can be easily fixed. For now, I'm helping you do that so you can focus on the battle without any distractions. Make sure we get praises from Mavislin, alright?" asked the Reaper.

Duncan nodded as he waited for Nasima to launch her spell. The audience watched gusts of wind converge into Nasima's hand. A loud soundwave erupted from Nasima's hand as a flagpole appeared. The flagpole had a sharp metal blade at the top, making it look like a spear.

A banner made from white and gold cloth attached to the weapon, loosely wrapped around the flagpole. Nasima leaped up and aimed the blade towards Duncan, who was gathering his Elemental Energy to unleash his Original Spell.

"I am the writer, and this battle is my script. The Act of Sinners intertwines within my hands. The Record Of Darkness hangs around me. Let the Play Of Death... Begin," chanted Duncan as strips of films sprung out and around him.

Nasima knew something was going on and acted fast by throwing down her spear toward Duncan.

"Might of Ventosus: Gale Of Orleans, Winds Of Victory!" yelled Nasima as she contorted her body to launch down the giant flagpole.

The flagpole was swirling with power as it made a beeline toward Duncan. The force of the throw was so powerful that the shockwave could be felt on the surface level, and Ashley worried that Nasima might kill Duncan with the weapon.

"Nah... I don't think Duncan will be done so soon. Remember, that child of Darkness is the only kid that Baldwin picked out when we were supposed to choose at least five children," assured Tomoe, tidying up his hair.
