Chapter 544 - The Ark Of Tomoe's Conflict With Raijin

"As you must know, I love drinking more than anything, so I got pissed off and fought against him. I didn't even bother to use my fans or my Element. I was only using my katana. I beheaded that guy after four strikes. So I'm damned sure he isn't supposed to be walking around again."

"Much less kidnapping children every single day in the Campania. And from our short duel, I could tell he didn't possess any healing powers. So how this Fujimaru kid keeps coming back to life is far from my comprehension. All I know is, it's annoying to know our foe would be immortal."

"But I know his weakness, at the very least. What Raiyen mentioned about the kid's lightning was real. When I fought him, he was still considered 'Corrupted.' His movement is erratic but not necessarily uncalculated," explained Tomoe, contributing to the Map Crystal.

"There's not much to say about this man except that he is considered a Corrupted Mage, and Tomoe and I have battled with him before. I'm worried that since the incident, he might have the power to summon more Husks," added Raiyen, furrowing his brows.

"No, only the Corrupted One has the power to do so. However, a Mage corrupted by the Element of Corruption can spread to others but not control them. With that being said, I'm curious as to how Fujimaru Raijin kidnaps children or kills them on site," replied Mavislin.

At this point, Clement merely glanced at the Valkyrie with a puzzled expression before clearing the table and leaving the Mages to their meeting. The Flower Mage could not help but feel sleepy after nearly hours of discussion. She wondered if any of the Founders needed sleep.

Meanwhile, the Slayer was still as fresh as spring as he continued to pull out information about how Raijin gets his victims.

"Surprisingly, this man doesn't use his Element to kidnap children, relying on pure assassination tricks to clear the streets. Raijin targets orphaned kids at the Northern Coast of Urnsfield most of the time, but he has been ambitious enough to aim for the rich daughters in the center."

"The heart of the Urnsfield Domain is home to many wealthy people in the country. They are not as rich as the Midford Family in Briton or the Red Light District of Albion. However, the families there are still considered wealthy compared to the outskirts of the Domain."

Raiyen squinted at the profile information before shaking his head as he looked at Tomoe.

"Isn't it such a coincidence that this kid is named after the trickster God of Lightning in Nippon Folklore? His way of kidnapping reminds me of your behavior, Tomoe. First, use soft words to lure victims to your hands. Then, telling them sweet lies and promises..." said Raiyen.

"Oi! I don't go around kidnapping children. That's disgusting to think so! And besides, children are rascals who run around all day without an inch of care of the world. Their blind innocence sickens me to the core that one could be so clueless to the world around them..."

Tomoe halted his rant before looking at the top of the stairs. The little fox had woken up and eavesdropped on the group for a few minutes. Upon noticing Midori had woken up, the Valkyrie sighed before using a whip to bring the guilty child to the first floor.

Of course, the child wasn't hurt, but she was beetroot red as she was forced to sit in the middle of the table with everyone's gaze on her.

"How often have I told you not to listen to other people's conversations? You know it's a terrible habit," scolded Mavislin, wagging a disapproving finger at the little fox.

Midori pouted as tears threatened to come out. Finally, the Valkyrie gave into the kid as she scooped the little fox into her arms. Mavislin placed her on a smaller stool that the Old Chapel graciously created.

"You can hear the discussion, but I don't you to interrupt anyone, alright?" said Mavislin, sternly gazing at Midori.

The child nodded, and Raiyen continued his explanation of how Fujimaru Raijin kidnaps children.

"As I was saying, the Stormbringer doesn't use his powers to kidnap children. This man is a sweet talker, leading unexpecting children to his 'dungeon' with sweet talk. From the accounts here, they will never come out once the children enter. There are quite a few complaints, but..."

"None of them have fully looked into the matter, right? Children go missing for many reasons. Most of them are runaways or parents abandoning them out of poverty. More mouths means more food to find. Thus, the local police wouldn't look at troubled parents in poor areas."

"However, it seems quite odd that the police would ignore the wealthy people's complaints."
