Chapter 521 - The Ark Of Round Five: Duncan

"Since Tomoe brought up that fact, Midori and Nasima's powers are quite destructive. I had expected Water to have a higher offense, but Midori's attacks were stronger after clashing with Amani. But of course, it's not a competition amongst the kids about their power levels."

"It's whether they are fit enough to be the First Seats of the Pillars in their specialized aspects," explained Rina, cuddling the little pouting child.

The adults nodded in unison as the children sat in a circle around Nasima and Rina. Baldwin looked at Duncan and cocked his head to the side while Mavislin went on the defense and blocked the Angry Man's vision.

"What? What do you think I was trying to do?" asked the Angry Man, feigning an innocent face.

"I think you were about to kidnap my little boy. Until he shows me what his powers are capable of, I am not letting you take over Duncan's training. And don't try arguing your way into getting Duncan into your ranks. You've got more than enough Knights on your side," said Mavislin.

Duncan stood up and tapped on the Valkyrie's shoulder, prompting her to turn around.

"Do not worry, Lady Roydon. I have no intention of following someone I do not know and did not save us from the hell we went through," replied Duncan, using Mavislin as a cover from the Angry Man's gaze.

"Hey! I helped take care of you guys while Mavislin and Ysabeau were busy fighting the main villain! So give me some credit for that!" whined Baldwin.

"Shall we get on with the training?" asked Duncan, ignoring the Angry Man.

"I am not here to stay. I was in my shadow for another reason. And I was here after Z complained that the air levels here dropped to dangerous levels. That Galaxian Mage sent me here to evacuate you guys and find the cause of the drop, but there's no need to anymore," explained Baldwin.

Baldwin then turned to Nasima, who shivered under his intense gaze. Rina instinctively hugged the child closer while Circe and Amani glared at Baldwin.

"I'm not going to eat her, so stop hugging that child so tight. I need to tell the child of winds to be careful on using up the air levels within her surroundings. Nasima, your powers are based on how much air is around you. Thus, subconsciously, you are hurting the people around you."

"It's alright if you are doing solo missions, but if there are teammates around you, you might kill them just because you are using your powers. For example, you've almost killed Duncan because you used up so much air around here," explained Baldwin, pointing to the skinny boy.

Nasima glanced at Duncan with guilty eyes and mouthed an apology to the child of darkness.

"I see, well then, we'll meet again for dinner. Hopefully, we'll be in one piece by the time we finish with Duncan's duel. Rina, are you ready for this last duel?" asked Mavislin as the Angry Man began to walk off.

The Butterfly Girl nodded confidently, knowing fully well she might die from this last lesson. Baldwin halted in his tracks and turned to face Raiyen and Mavislin one more time.

"By the by, the Headmaster wants to see you and Raiyen after desserts. That Aki wouldn't tell me the reason, so I assume that this meeting should be done in private. Whatever it is, I wish you both all the best in the outcome you feel is right," said the Dark Mage.

The Time Mage and the Valkyrie nodded as Rina took her stance to do the final training lesson of the day. The Flower Mage mentally prepared herself for this upcoming lesson since it would be against the Five Orphans' most potent and destructive child.

"Before you guys start, let's have the Old Chapel change the place of the battlefield so the kids or the nearby plants won't die from Duncan's Aura," instructed Mavislin as a pit formed underneath Duncan and Rina.

Unlike the duel between Midori and Mavislin, the area under Rina and Duncan did not giveaway as abruptly as before. Instead, the ground slowly began to sink to several levels lower than the main ground this time. Again, the kids peered from above, as did Tomoe and Raiyen.

Rina sucked in a deep breath before standing firm against her student. On the other hand, Duncan seemed bored and relaxed as he stood in front of Rina.

"No need to describe what you want to see from my powers. I'll deal with the best trick I've got, followed by my version of Blood Mastery. And when we are ready, I'll throw up the best defense I've got in my arsenal. And just so you know, I've got an Original set of spells like Nasima."
