Chapter 522 - The Ark Of The Ankou

Duncan stared right at the Butterfly Girl as he allowed his Aura to flourish and grow. The Butterfly Girl sensed the impending doom from the boy and quickly threw up her shield and wings. Duncan seemed impressed but remained calm as he clasped his hands together.

Duncan woke up in a foreign land, an area filled with stars. It was pretty mesmerizing to look at and to walk around in. One could not tell the difference between both ceiling and floors. The child seemed confused about why he was looking at swirling galaxies and stars.

"This isn't what I recall. I should've been walking around in a graveyard, not amongst the stars," murmured Duncan as he strolled about the mysterious area.

"I thought I would play a hand in your world since it was dreary to live amongst gravestones," said a creaky voice, prompting Duncan to look around.

The child then looked to his left and nearly felt his heart jump into his throat. A tall figure was right beside the boy, wielding an oversized scythe behind his back. The figure revealed himself to be a pale man with stitches running down his face and long flowing grey hair.

The man smiled and waved at Duncan, showing his luminous green eyes. The child stepped back in caution when the man approached him.

"Not to fear, I'm not going to hurt you. On the contrary, I will help you with the battle you are in now," said the man pointing at Duncan with his black fingernail.

"And how so? I've never seen you before. Who are you?" asked Duncan, glaring at the foreign man.

"Well... They call me the Transgressor because I destroyed some significant buildings, so other than that, I don't have a proper name. But before they called me that, I was a 'Grim Reaper.' So I guess you and I are not so different after all," explained the man with a creepy smile.

"What do you mean by you and me? Are you a spirit from another world or something? Because I read about Mages summoning ghosts of the past to aid in the battle within the present. And Midori has already summoned the Treacherous Knight of the Round Table."

"But, you don't look like a Knight at all... So, who are you?" asked Duncan, aiming his words at the mystery man like a machine gun.

"You are one curious child... Duncan. Very well, since I've been your guardian for a long time, I shall tell you who I am within the history books. I am an echo of a harbinger of Death. So essentially, in Briton's history, I am the protector of the dead and a bad omen for the living."

"I've assumed a body of a random man called only by the Transgressor and was summoned to greet you. The living calls me Ankou, but I prefer the Grim Reaper. As for the similarity between you and me... I'll make it simple for you to understand."

"I take people's lives. I knock on their door to collect their souls to bring to the afterlife. Your Element is Darkness, a Founding Element known to be the basis of the most destructive and hostile Element throughout the Universe. The Element of Death itself is within your hands."

"Whether you choose to use it or not is entirely up to you. Do you know how powerful you are? You could walk up to an army and send them to God within a snap of a finger with your Element. Or if you're feeling rotten, you could use Necrosis to make your enemies suffer a long, painful death."

"You are the aspect of Death itself," explained the Reaper, smiling at the boy.

Duncan glanced down at his hands with wonder and amazement. Seriously, who thought to give a boy without emotions to govern the power of Death?

"So, what are you doing in my head?"

"I was bored, and I answered your call when those groups of men were torturing you. I laid dormant within your mind and soul ever since the day they broke your sanity. Then, when you stopped feeling emotions, I got called to help you maintain your survival functions."

"The Original Spell set you've got was from me, so you're welcome. And now I'm here to show the most powerful Frame I can ever teach you without killing yourself to use it," explained the Reaper, as he held up a hand towards Duncan.

"Am I going to use that scythe in that Frame?" asked Duncan, pointing at the weapon the Reaper was holding.

"Nope, I'll hand you my weapon when you grow stronger or get approved to be the First Seat Dementor Pillar. That weapon can't be destroyed and can slice through anything for your information. But for now, I will show you something better."
