Chapter 437 - The Ark Of Tradition To Regenerate

"You protected that part as if it was your Elemental Core," finished Baldwin, looking at Ysabeau with blank eyes.

Just then, Mavislin raised her hand. Baldwin stopped explaining to honor the Valkyrie's query.

"I don't know what's like for the rest of the worlds, but what I have been taught was to hurt myself constantly, like ripping out an organ every week," said Mavislin, with a straight face.

Z spat out the milk that he was drinking, making Baldwin a target practice for a moment. The humans, along with Tomoe was taken aback. Both at what Mavislin had casually said at the breakfast and Z suddenly showering Baldwin's face with milk.

Bryan quickly gave Baldwin more pieces of cloths to wipe his face. Tomoe was busy laughing while Clement could not help but smile at the scene. The rest of the Founders had no expression them, say for Z with his confused and apologetic expression.

With another round of cursing by the very Angry and soaked Man, Z resumed what he had wanted to say. The whole table was silent once more.

"What I wanted to ask was why. Why are you ripping out your organs every week? I had no clue about this. Headmaster, have you ever heard of this?" questioned Z, honestly concerned at his fellow Valkyrie.

"Nope, this is the first that I heard of such things. Why do you do so?" asked Gillian.

"Well, it was to prevent the above from happening. My mother, the Empress Of Kindness, had pregnant at a very early age, before my twin and I. She then had a miscarriage during a war with the Poison Armageddon, they came from Venus."

"I had met your mother before, during that conflict. We aided her. She was very kind."

Mavislin looked stunned upon that revelation by the Aki.

"I had not known that..." murmured Mavislin.

"Well, that was because you weren't born yet. And the reason why I had no clue that it would be you was that you didn't say that you were the Emporess' child. And I didn't know if it was the same Empress that I had met. But judging by your statement earlier, I think it would have been her."

"Well that's something you don't see every day and Aki working with Valkyries to take down a common enemy," said Z.

"Anyways, because her womb was poisoned, similar to Ysabeau's state, she could not keep the child anymore. Thus, my grandmother forcefully killed the unborn child. When they returned, in a fit of rage and despair, my mother ripped her womb out of her body," explained Mavislin.

This time, it was Bryan who spat out his drink. Luckily, not on anyone but himself. Raiyen tossed him a few pieces of cloths to clean himself up. Tomoe shook his head as he helped the fumbling human with his mess. Once again, the Mages held their serious expressions.

"My mother was very emotional, before and during her rule. So when she did that, it was to be foreseen. However, her womb regrew instantly because of our self-heal. And right after mating with my father, she got pregnant with Benjamin and me."

"Ever since then, it was tradition for all Valkyries to constantly regenerate their organs and limbs. I follow a very strict routine. Every week, an organ. Every month, a limb. Every year, a wing. So long as I still have one wing, I will not die. It's to get rid of whatever rotting thing I have in my system."

"Does Benjamin do the same?" asked Raiyen.

"Yes, most likely so. I know for a fact he did the routine with me when we were young but after he flipped and the war ended, I am not sure about it," replied Mavislin.

"We should have consulted you for this project. Knowing that would've saved us months from worthless dead-ends," said Baldwin, sighing loudly.

"I wanted to suggest it to you, Headmaster. But I was under the impression that Ysabeau's entire system was pumping with poison. It would've ruled out that theory. Sure, the mother would be alright with poison in her but a foreign life within her might not survive."

"No, my womb was the only thing that remained the same state all those years before. I've been through so many conflicts to the point that my limbs and other organs, down to my blood have changed in these few hundred years," explained Ysabeau.

"Indeed, now that I think about it, Mages should not be surprised that we do lose organs and limbs constantly. Though, we don't do it deliberately. That's the difference between Akis and Valkyrie, from my side of the spectrum."

"I don't have that tradition either. If I did, I think I would have children by now," replied Ysabeau.
