Chapter 438 - The Ark Of Twice Before, One After

"Of course, those Mage without self-healing should not perform this. Raiyen and Bryan should not attempt to pull this off unless you are both dead."

Bryan and Raiyen nodded in agreement.

"So, how did Sir Noble and Headmaster pull it off without knowing this fact?" asked Raiyen.

"The same way Baldwin's Element kills by rotting, the same way it saved her womb. Ever since we made love a few months ago, Baldwin and I had thought that it was going to be a failed round. You were pregnant but the kid was slowly getting poisoned."

"Since we had failed with the trial runs without your body, we had expected this child to die since it had poison levels higher than a typical Bahamut offspring would endure. But when we found that the child had survived past a week, we decided to jump in quickly to solve the recurring problem."

"However, we were met with another problem. You were complaining that blood was around in between your legs. You didn't see anything wrong, thinking that it must have been from the previous mission or that you might have injured your inner thighs. But that wasn't the case at all."

"That was because Fluffy had acted strangely during a landing. We were trying to dodge some rouge Mages onslaught in the skies and we were descending with speeds that could rival a tornado. Of course, the landing was going to get me hurt..." explained Ysabeau.

"Then why did you say Fluffy was acting strangely?"

"Fluffy went bananas the moment we touched down, clawing at me as if I was her enemy. So I thought the blood was either the rough landing or the clawing session we had. Not...."

"A miscarriage. You had miscarried a twin. You had twins within you. We opted to stop the procedure instantly because we didn't think that the surviving child would last after its twin died."

"Why didn't I feel any pain then? A miscarriage should be very painful, as far as I know."

"You did. I could tell but I think you've attributed it to stress because it was also the same time that Mavislin had run away to deal with Umbras by herself. You started eating less and stating up more often, in hopes that Mavislin would come to her senses and return home."

"Even I couldn't locate her. I've event sent Raiyen to look for her, he couldn't come back on time. Luckily, it was the future Raiyen that came to her aid, but that was after Minwoo had officially died. With that bonus, everyone was worried about the next move of the Five Kings."

"And one more reason why cease the procedure from going further was that Baldwin refused to use Element directly on you without knowing he had a shot, your womb was still toxic," replied Gillian.

"But during Mavislin's absence, I realized that the twin was still surviving after two months. We had been preoccupied with our Domains for a while so that was the last thing on our minds. When I found that there was still a life with you, I rang Baldwin during his mission."

"And right on time as well, to help out with the final clash with Benjamin and the Umbras," noted Mavislin, bowing her head to be thankful for Baldwin's rescue.

Angry Man or not, there was no doubt that this Dark Mage would risk his life to save his adopted niece. Even if she was from another world. That was a godsend since this was a world that parents could think to torture that biological kids out of ill intentions and spite.

He was to be pissed but at the end of the day, he was phenomenal during the final battle with Benjamin. If he had't arrived, Mavislin would probably be dead by now. Or worse, joined her twin to destroy the remaining worlds.

"Before we move on, I just want to let everyone know that a gestation period for a Bahamut is a year in Earth time. That means that Ysbeau is at the end of her second quarter with this pregnancy," elaborated Baldwin.

"So that's why you came home prematurely, Baldwin," said Z, connecting the two incidents.

"Correct. After another round of arguing and deciding, I finally gave in to the Headmaster's pleas and used the Necrotic Element to slowly rot her infant and womb away. But, at a very slow speed. I have been constantly doing so, every night for the past three months after the Umbra incident."

"Luckily for me, you had no clue this was going on. Because of this, I was able to pull it off without having any drawbacks since the process would be for nil if that area was injured. But I'd be very frank with everyone now, I have no clue if this will work."
