Chapter 436 - The Ark Of New Knowledge?

Ysabeau looked at Gillian with shocked eyes.

"What do you mean?" asked Ysabeau, slightly stunned by Gillian's voice.

"One more thing I should announce, though almost all of us knows. Ysabeau is pregnant, despite having a hostile womb, five centuries ago. And she wants to know what we've done to make that possible. And perhaps, you will find it useful in your future missions," said Gillian.

"May I explain it out? With your permission, Sir Noble."

"I do not mind, go ahead. And I hear there is a new couple amongst us. Word of advice, you can have a romantic relationship with each other but make sure it doesn't get in the way of your missions or responsibilities. Or cloud your judgment of what's right or wrong."

"You both know who you are. And I felt that you two needed a few more years before getting together but since that has been done, there's no taking back. However, I'll personally advise that you two take it slow first. If you rush, things might get complicated."

"Alright, after that little information nugget dropped on the table this morning, I'll begin explaining what has been happening for the past year. It is a shared project and experiment, only Baldwin and I were involved. As for Z, Raiyen and Mavislin, you weren't aware of that fact."

"What do you mean by me? Way before you introduced Baldwin to me, I had known about that fact!" protested the Valkyrie, glaring daggers at what Gillian said.

Raiyen looked at Mavislin for answers while Z raised his eyebrow. Gillian and Baldwin were shocked at the Valkyrie's outburst, not expecting that she would react that way about being in the dark.

"I told her about it because she asked me why I was taking care of her like a child. Hard to explain the details to a confused and scared child Valkyrie, so I just told her I could never bear any children anymore," answered Ysabeau, looking at Mavislin with apologetic eyes.

"You were so young, back then. Fresh out from a war, I couldn't drop my sorrow and pain onto you. In a way, I adopted you because I could face the truth that I would never have children again. But, if this pregnancy goes through, I still won't abandon you," added Ysabeau.

"Then why'd ya left me the dark? I knew you before Mavislin, why wasn't this relayed earlier? Hell, I was there before Baldwin!" asked Z, who was offended.

"You didn't seem like the type to care. Remember, you were a monster back in the Congregation," spat Gillian, shutting the Galaxian Mage.

"To sum everything up, I had been poisoned over five centuries ago. The Corrupt Element was mixed into the poison and though my body could take both the poison and the Element, my unborn child couldn't. My womb was then hostile since it was filled with poison."

"But once we met Mavislin and Raiyen, Ysabeau's body had undergone drastic changes, common within big beasts joining Earth. However, one thing remained constant throughout. Regeneration. Those from the stars have this skill to heal their bodies, Ysabeau was no different."

"So we thought, if it had been so long ago, surely that organ would've healed up, right? We were wrong, very wrong about that," added Baldwin.

"Since Baldwin knew about the poisoning, and I asked him for more information about it. When we tried experimenting with our theory to heal her, we found that the toxicity levels within her womb were drastically high. It was like Venus in there."

"You couldn't feel any pain because it had been lying dormant in there with you getting used to the discomfort. That was how hostile your womb was back then. Keep in mind that it was before we met the Valkyrie," contributed Baldwin, staring right at the High Queen.

"What happened? I thought that theory would've been plausible," asked Raiyen, genuinely interested in the Angry Man's words.

"It was plausible if Ysabeau hadn't been constantly protecting her womb from attacks. Ever since that day when I found her, Ysabeau never allowed anything to hurt her abdomen. Due to that certain aspect, if she tried to conceive, the egg and sperm would die before fusing."

"Did she try to conceive afterward?" asked Mavislin.

"No, because the toxic levels could kill both the sperm and egg. We tested out this theory out in our way, not using Ysabeau at all. We were worried that she would get triggered," said Baldwin, with his voice trailing off at the end.

"Because of that aspect, her womb had stayed the same as all those years ago, the poisoned organ was still living within her. Surviving as a stale thing, sitting in her abdomen comfortably for nearly five centuries. Thus, the organ never got a chance to cure itself."
