Chapter 2 - Daydreams do come true.

I had just closed my eyes when I heard a weird clicking and some scratchy sounds not too far away. I slowly opened my eyes, turned my head and what do I see?, the devils' favourite creature, the detestable many legged beast, a meter long yellowish brown centipede. Oh! Sweet baby Jesus! I sprang up and grabbed the wooden spear that was laying next to me, the centipede stayed motionless, only following my movements with its head. That's when my staring match begun. Cold sweat was bursting out of my every pore, I thought about running, but I could never outrun this indomitable beast. So I chose to fight, I raised my spear like a pickaxe and channelled my miner ancestors' spirit and ran towards the centipede, one quick swing was all it took, straight on the head, my grandiose spear broke, and the centipede died.

I fell down to my knees huffing for air, quickly I clasped my hands and offered a prayer to my black lung having ancestor that may or may not have existed for saving my life. I let out a sigh of relief. Breathed in a mouthful of air, that's when it stuck me, my everlasting hatred of centipedes. I viciously started dismantling the corpse. First I ripped the bastard apart with my bare hands, I grabbed the body and twisted off the head, after that I ripped every leg off and dismembered the body. After that very rewarding and brutal process, I knew that I would be unconditionally attacked by centipedes, but I was ready for it.

After actually calming down, I took the chitin off the centipede and took out the meat. The "centipede" had no innards, no nothing except a sack that had acid in it that was connected with one singular tube to the mandibles, I had removed it safely, so the meat should be safe to eat. There was an interesting choice in front of me, in the shape of centipede meat.

I chose to gamble. Water was nowhere near, normal food was unavailable, I was thirsty and hungry, I had to eat, so I did. I devoured the whole 1-meter centipede and waited. Felt fine for the next few minutes, but then the heat came, it felt like a 45C fever, slowly my eyes started to droop. I tried holding on....

There I was. Unconscious in my leaf skirt, next to my broken spear and the remains of a centipede.
