Chapter 3 - One: Kate's Prayer

The room was dim lit, a woman sat  waiting. She shifted her body nervously. She could never sit still for to long. Her iPhone lit up as a message came through. She checked it quickly, turning her attention to someone entering the room. The man sat down beside her.

"How are you doing today Kate?"

" I'm not bad , but I need to speak with you pastor."

This was Kate Sherman, who came to her church every Wednesday to speak to her Pastor. Pastor Adam Moore would listen to her and pray for her privately. He was the head of her local church The Church Of Christ. This was something they did since the accident. Kate was forty two years old, a college professor for five years at Purdue University. She was very dedicated to her work, and loved teaching. She started off as a english teacher at a high school. She then accepted a long term position at the university.

She received her associates degree in human psychology, married her long time friend Cameron Bridges giving birth to a girl named Ruth nine years later. She loved her work yes, but valued her family more. She loved her small home, her family vacations to Tampa every year and her church. Things seemed so simple at first. Her marriage was fine, Cameron worked just as much as she did. He was a lawyer, one of the finest in the entire state of Indiana. They lived a modest life, and cherished the little things.

"How is work at the university ?"

" It's good.....really busy its second semester already " she replied. Pastor Adam chuckled, he was close to her family, he was there whenever she needed him. He always encouraged her to speak whatever was on her heart. She understood how the human mind worked, but this was different. This hit home and there was that feeling she experienced.....she buried it deep inside her heart.

"Let's pray together Kate" he took her hand gently. They bowed there heads.

"Lord we come to you again in Kate's time of need, Lord we ask that you put your hand on her life , we ask that you reveal your will to her spirit, you know her pain, sorrows, grief, and joy Lord you know her situation is dire Father but nothing is impossible with you, we ask that you be with her and her family during this difficult time .....we love, honor, and thank you in Jesus name ....amen " they embraced one another.
