While Manato was still busy inside the dungeon, the whole venue inside the Auction House started to erupt in chaos when the first Guild Token appeared. When the attendant carried the container of the Guild Token, the auctioneer began to explain the contents.
"Now, every one of you must have heard the rumor of the first Guild Token in this auction. We are delighted to announce that the rumor is true, and the first Guild Token is still in our possession. It's the first-ever Guild Token to exist in the entire world!" the auctioneer said, signaling the attendant to open the container. The gold token that everyone wanted to own finally appeared before their eyes.
Hearing this and seeing the token before them, the whole venue exploded in commotion as the players suddenly became hyped.
"As you all know, the first guild that will come into existence will be a very prestigious one, as they will have the opportunity to acquire the guild manor located in the heart of the city. This will provide them with a strong foundation, and the title 'The Godfathers' will be granted to the guild members! Now, for the awaited bidding, we will start the bidding at 10,000 gold coins!"
Everyone who was prepared to bid millions of gold coins suddenly felt the urge to exclaim, "SO CHEAP!" However, the first person to break the ice was none other than Harmless Sparrow.
"150,000 gold!"
Hearing this, the future guild leaders started to bid as well.
"200,000 Gold!"
"500,000 gold!"
"625,000 gold!"
The entire venue descended into chaos as players continued to outbid their competitors. If Manato were present at the venue, he would have been amazed by the enthusiasm of the players, even for a mere guild token that he didn't see much value in.
Finally, the situation escalated to the point where the first guild token became exceptionally expensive. Many other players who wished to acquire the Guild Token for themselves couldn't participate due to the exorbitant amount of money already in the pool, making it unaffordable for them to bid. Nonetheless, not everyone had given up; three guild leaders were still locked in fierce competition, each trying to outbid the others.
It was Harmless Sparrow, Black Hue, and the person who had almost killed Manato in the past, Kazuki, also known by his IGN, Kaisar. Kaisar was the one dominating the three guild leaders since he quickly bid 500 million gold. It was an insane amount of gold, and not only that, it was a mind-boggling sum, which left even the auctioneer stunned and nearly speechless. The amount had started at just 1 million gold, but it had skyrocketed to 500 million gold all of a sudden.
Kaisar looked smug as he glanced at the two competitors. Black Hue shook his head in dismay, signaling his withdrawal from the battle. Kaisar celebrated inwardly. However, Harmless Sparrow raised her hand.
"6 million," she declared.
Kaisar wasn't sure if she was bluffing, but he couldn't allow her to secure the first guild token. It might be the only guild token available until the first expansion, which he knew was set to happen in a few months, making guild tokens a widespread commodity.
His budget was 200 million, and he couldn't afford to overspend without knowing the outcome. However, he was quite confident that he would secure the token in this attempt, so even though he felt wrong to splurge so much money on this, he reluctantly raised his hand and submitted his final bid.
"100 Million."
The entire auction room fell into silence. Even the auctioneer was at a loss for words, and Harmless Sparrow had to withdraw the bid. The auctioneer quickly regained his composure and proceeded with the announcement.
"100 Million, going once, going twice..."
He glanced around, though he doubted anyone would be willing to outbid his offer, and then brought the gavel down.
"The First Guild token is now yours! You can use it immediately after payment."
Kaisar was so thrilled that he promptly made the payment, seized the Guild Token, and hurried out of the auction house, oblivious to what would happen next. Inside the auction house, the other players were somewhat taken aback as he rushed out without even acknowledging the rest of the crowd. It seemed as though he was in a rush to secure the title and the guild.
"Uh... alright, let's move on to the next product," the auctioneer said.
The players seemed a little bit sad and devoid of enthusiasm, seeing the first guild token to be taken away. If Kaisar becomes the first guild, new members will immediately follow and the upcoming guilds that have not received the Guild Tokens will have a hard time recruiting new recruits, but then, the auctioneer smiled.
"Why is everyone so glum? That was the first guild token; won't you try to bid on the second one?"
He snapped his fingers and another guild token appeared before them, in the same manner as well. It seems they didn't expect another one to appear again.
When all of the players heard this, they were stunned.
"Huh? Two tokens? What is the meaning of this?" Harmless Sparrow looked at the auctioneer in confusion.
"Although I mentioned that there is a guild token here, I never said there is only one available. We still have this one and another in stock, so anyone else ready to bid can start now."
Before the bidding could commence, a global announcement appeared, causing them all to stare at it and listen.
"Congratulations to the Guild Burning Dragon for becoming the first guild in the world! As the first guild established, the Guild House is awarded to Burning Dragon as their personal headquarters. The title 'The Godfathers' can now be granted to anyone who joins the Burning Dragon Guild!"
Many online players who heard this immediately rushed to join the Burning Dragon guild, hoping to bask in the glory of being part of the first guild. However, it was clear that the spotlight wouldn't last long. Kaisar might have initially thought his guild was the only one in the server, but soon he would find competition, as other guilds were also being established.
