Chapter 56 - Buying a New Property

There are many things I need to plan for my future. If I want to reshape my future into a new path, I must outline the specific details of what might happen if I take certain actions. However, my entire future is closely tied to the game, so there isn't much I can change. My primary motivation for everything I do is my parents. They are my only family, and when I lost them in my past timeline, my world fell apart. If not for the support of my true friends, I wouldn't have been able to recover.

My parents are not the only important people in my life who suffered a tragic fate due to my lack of interaction with them. My two friends also hold a significant place in my life, and I can't bear the thought of losing them. They were there for me when I was at my lowest, helping me get back on my feet.

One of my friends, Dolly, is already playing the game, and I just met her the other day. She's making steady progress in the game, taking it easy without the pressure I face. However, she's a crucial part of my plan. She helped me a lot in the past timeline, and this time, I'll be there to support her since I've gained a head start.

To start, I must purchase a larger house than my current one. In the future, this house will likely be seized by loan sharks, and I have no intention of defending its possession. My goal is to provide my family with a larger, more suitable dwelling. Additionally, it's a strategic move to deceive the loan sharks into believing this is our only property.

Another motivating factor behind my desire for a new, bigger house is to establish a solid base of operations for my future plans. If I intend to take down Kazuki's company, I need to ensure I'm in a position of strength and have the ability to recruit trusted allies to assist me. Although I acknowledge my capability as a one-man army, I'm also aware of Kazuki's formidable strength and the power of his guild. I'm determined not to suffer defeat again.

I turned to my PC and began searching for available houses. One particular website displayed various properties with houses already built. The realtor is also quite welcoming and has given me some suggestions that would suit my tastes. I made certain that the location was tranquil, surrounded by nature and greenery, and devoid of any criminal activity. However, none of the options seemed to meet my criteria, so I decided to explore various places to find an ideal house or a spacious lot. If a house is small but the lot is extensive, I have no qualms about investing my own resources to construct a larger residence. Given my considerable wealth, why not indulge in extravagant spending?

In the end, I failed to find a suitable place to buy. It was challenging to locate a property that met my requirements. Most of the options had small lots, so I had to decline. I was about to stop searching when the realtor contacted me before I exited the website.

"Sir, we've found a property that matches your preferences," she said.

My interest was piqued by her words.

"Where is it?"

...

I was taken aback by what the realtor told me. The property in question was a spacious house situated on a hill. It was available for sale because the original owners were relocating to America. While the house had a beautiful exterior, it also had a somewhat ominous appearance from a distance, resembling a haunted mansion. However, it seemed like an ideal fit for my needs. Although the property required some cleaning, it was located in a secluded area of Tokyo, away from the bustling streets.

The realtor had given me the keys after I went to the Realtor and asked for a house tour and to inspect the house that she was saying. To be honest, the house looked rather eerie. Its mere appearance could send shivers down your spine, making you think twice about buying it. It was no surprise that nobody had purchased it, despite its potential. When I used the key to unlock the door, it creaked open with a loud clunk. While many people might be too afraid to enter, I wasn't. I had encountered far scarier things in the Alternate World, so this place felt like a theme park attraction to me.

I'm on high alert. While I may not have fully recovered my former strength, I've managed to integrate a few of my senses from the game into real life. What's keeping me on edge is my strong suspicion that this place isn't truly "abandoned." It's clear that someone else has been living here. The items inside the house bear marks and signs confirming that people were here before. I'd venture to guess that these current occupants of this supposed abandoned house are the ones scaring off other people.

The signs are so conspicuous, but anyone not paying close attention wouldn't realize they're entering a place that's currently occupied, even if it's an illegal occupation. But there is a chance that these illegal occupants are hostile and are ready to do what it takes to harm anyone who visits.

I cautiously move through the place, inspecting the walls and floors. Considering it's an abandoned mansion, it appears surprisingly well-maintained. Still, there are rough and broken edges, likely due to the house's age and need for renovation. The living room is furnished, and some of the pieces seem antique. It seems the previous owner didn't bother to take them when they left. Well, that's a plus for me. This house is affordable, and it won't take much to renovate, saving me a lot of money.

Despite the lingering presence of whoever was trying to threaten us by leaving, I continued to appraise the place and honestly, it wasn't a bad place. In fact, I like it. Although it wasn't that polished, a little bit of touches here and there is enough to flip the interior into something real and pleasing to the eye.

Despite being dusty and a bit dirty from some spots here and there, I must say that this place is a total instabuy for me. Not only is it cheap, but this is also a very good deal. Maybe the reason it was easily rejected is due to the illegal occupants trying to find a way to stop them from purchasing this place. I am not mad at them, it is just a little inconvenient and annoying to be honest.

While exploring the house, my ears perk up at a noise coming from upstairs. It seems like a deliberate attempt to create fear, but after all I've been through, such minor disturbances don't frighten me.

Another commotion ensues. Without hesitation, I follow the sound and find a broken old ceramic plate. Judging by the condition of the plate, it clearly didn't just break. This is part of their scare tactics, I suspect.

I've managed to regain my focus from the Alternate World, and I still remember how to use it. Maybe I should employ it to check on this person? Then something swiftly passes by me and disappears. It seems these "inhabitants" here want to scare me away by hiding and causing mischief. Well, why not indulge them and play a game of hide and seek?
