Chereads / Game of Thrones: The Prophet (COMPLETED) / Chapter 13 - After the Sack

Chapter 13 - After the Sack

283 AC, Narrow Sea…

Gerold was sailing back to Lys with two additional passengers on board. They were Princess Rhaenys Targaryen and Prince Aegon Targaryen. Aegon was not able to talk as he was just one year old but Rhaenys was able to talk some words and she was asking her mother continuously.

A silver-haired man was looking after them and that man was Raenar Rogare. He had come with Gerold to King's Landing and even carried the fake dead bodies in his arms on the way to nursery. The things they had done was important for the future so they couldn't trust somebody else. In the end, Reaner himself went to King's Landing with Gerold.

At the moment, Raenar was with the children to distract them. When he saw Gerold coming towards him he turned towards Rhaenys and said, "Princess, can you take your brother and go to the cabin? We need to talk about some important things with the Prophet."

Rhaenys smiled widely and shouted, "Okay! But, next time, we will play come-into-my-castle."

Raenar laughed and said, "Of course, of course. Whatever you wish to play."

Rhaenys picked her brother went towards the cabin's door.

Gerold watching her getting in and went beside Raenar. He looked out to sea and sighed, "I don't like sea voyages…"

"You need to get used to it because journeys will get more frequent." said Raenar and he turned his head looked at him, "Can I ask you something?"

"Ask away…" Gerold also turned his head and faced him.

"When you touched Princess Elia's hand, a white light came out. Did the same thing happened when you touched me?" asked Raenar.

"Gerold smiled and said, "Yes, it was the same light but the purpose was different. When I touched you, I gave you memories. When I touched her, I gave her courage and put a little spell on her."

"Spell? What spell?" Raenar was confused.

Gerold laughed, "Hehe, If someone looks at her then that person will feel the nirvana but if that person has any malicious intent then depending on that person's persona he will feel pain, anger or confusion."

"But… why?" Raenar did not know why Gerold did something like this.

Raenar hardened his glare and asked, "Why did you not save their mother? You could have changed some dead body's face and put her in Princess Elia's stead. I know you have the power to do it."

Raenar did now that it was going to affect children's growth. Their mother was dead and there was no one they can rely on. They had only each other. He himself knew it was hard to grow up without a mother. He lost his own mother at the age of six and these children were just babies, not even at his age.

"I needed to guarantee that she jump or don't be saved. I gave her some time to jump so nothing can hinder my plans. And yes, I had the power to save her but I did not, It was a necessary evil… Children are like saplings, changing their ideas and perspective is easy but if there is someone closely-related to them… Then it might harm the progress. I want to bend their minds to God's will. I don't want them to be poisoned by Westeros's seven demons or cultures. If their mother had been here then their minds would have been shackled with bonds and unnecessary feelings. If you want to change something then you will either change it when it's small or you will change it from inside. And I am planning to change it in both ways…"

*************

When Robert Baratheon arrived at the King's Landing with Jon Arryn beside him, he saw dead westermen scattered in front of the gates. There were thousands of dead bodies and big arrows stuck on the ground. Robert passed the gates with his army and went into the city. The thing he saw angered him, the city was sacked and smoke was coming out of everywhere. Houses were destroyed, civilians were lying dead on the ground and soldiers were killing the remaining ones. Although he didn't like the idea of killing innocent people, it was necessary. People living in King's Landing were all under the effect of Targaryen rule for over three centuries. Most of them were still loyal to the dragon despite its fall. The city needed new blood and someone was doing it for him.

Jon who was beside Robert shouted, "Outrageous, how dare he kill so many innocent people!?"

"Let it go, Jon, you saw his soldiers scattered on the ground just outside of gates. He should have lost half of his army. If not killing these people then his soldiers and he would have died. There are nearly half a million people in this city. What do you think is going to happen once his army get in and siege Red Keep? He needed to instil fear in their heart and he did it simply by killing them…" Robert slowly talked.

To Robert, Jon was simply too honourable like his best friend Ned. They needed to root out the loyalists and put their own in their position. As far as he is concerned, he should have eradicated House Martell and House Tyrell. However, it would create instability in the realm so he had to suppress these thoughts.

Soon, they arrived at the Red Keep and, directly, went to the throne room.

Robert saw his friend arguing with Lord Tywin and Jaime Lannister. And the mad king was lying in front of the throne, dead. All the floor was bloodied and there was a stabbing wound on the mad king's back.

They stopped arguing when they saw Robert coming. Lord Tywin Lannister went towards Robert and greeted him with his head. Behind him, Jaime Lannister was coming, he also greeted him with a nod.

"I see you have done a good job, Lord Tywin." Robert turned and looked at the corpse of the mad king, "Which hero killed this madman, ha?"

Jamie Lannister talked with a sullen face, "I killed him."

Robert was shocked, "What!? You killed the man you were sworn to protect?"

"Kingslayer…" murmured Jon Arryn.

Tywin Lannister stiffened. He knew that it was coming but nevertheless, it did not feel good to hear that so he tried to distract them with another matter, "Elia Martell and her children are dead. When my men entered her nursery, she jumped out of the window with her babies in her arms. I already sent men to retrieve the corpses so it should be here in a day or two."

"Hmm, good. Dragon spawns are dying like flies, hahaha!" Robert burst into laughter. He was glad that Lannisters killed them. Now, his throne was more secure with less potential heirs.

Robert turned towards his friend Eddard and said, "Ned, I received some news about my brother while I was coming here. Fuckin' Tyrells sieged the Storm's End and starving them in the castle. I want you to go and relieve them from the siege. If possible, do it without bloodshed. Already too much blood has been shed. After that find her… I started a war for her but I don't even know where to find her."

Ned opened his mouth like he wanted to say something but after a little hesitation, he gave up. He bowed and said, "As you wish your grace."

Robert shouted with a stern face, "Fuck grace, call me Robert! You are the only one I can trust and after the war, I'm planning to give a position on the small council."

Jon Arryn became shocked and quickly said, "Robert, that's not a wise decision. Ned just became a Lord, he needs to secure his ties with North. You know he grew up in Vale, it would be hard for him to be recognized, if he stays here."

Eddard Stark looked at his friend and said, "Jon is right Robert, I need to return…"

"I understand… then just go find my Lyanna…"
