Chapter 15 - Speech

284 AC, Lys, the Next Day of the Big Prayer…

Gerold and Raenar were sitting in Rogare Manor's study room. Today, they were going to take over the city's administration. His own personal troops were ready. However, he was not alone in this coup d'état. Other magisters were also supporting, except one. So, in a sense, it was not exactly a coup d'état. It was more like a coronation.

"Is everything ready?" asked Gerold.

"Yes, Your Holiness. They are waiting for us at the gates. Magister Armello tried to attack other magisters' houses while the big prayer was happening but he was apprehended before even getting to the gates." Raenar was talking formally. At first, he saw this relationship between his house and Gerold as a business but after a year, his opinion about him changed. Now, he was his one of the most devoted believers.

"Hm, let's go. It would not be good to make them wait too long," said Gerold nonchalantly.

"Of course, Your Holiness." Raenar stood up from his chair and wore his new dress. It was a golden dress decorated with precious stones. He was also wearing a white cross as a necklace. It was the symbol of God's religion.

Meanwhile, Gerold was wearing a simple brown robe. However, the robe was as hard as Valyrian steel and flexible as spider's silk. It was also as light as a feather. He was holding a crook in his hand. Crook was made from wood but not even the Ironwood in the Westeros was sturdy as this one.

Gerold and Raenar went out of the manor and nearly five hundred soldiers greeted them on the gates. All of them were in the same armours. They were wearing white armour made of steel. They were holding steel swords with both of their hands but they were pointing it towards the ground. When they saw Gerold and Raenar coming out of the manor, they put one of their hands on their chest and shouted, "Long live Prince Raenar!"

Raenar smiled when he saw this. His hard work was finally giving fruit. His dreams of recovering his house's honour were going to become a reality today. However, he didn't want to contend with only this success. He wanted more than this, he wanted to bring his house to greater heights.

Gerold and Raenar mounted their horses. Both of the horses were white as milk. They were literally glittering with light. Of course, they were blessed with Gerold's powers so it was normal for them to be more glorious than the others.

The group started to go towards the palace slowly. The palace was just beside the temple. When they bought the land to build the temple, they also bought it in the name of building temple. However, the palace was built instead of the temple. They were preparing for this moment for a long time, even before gaining the support of most of the magisters.

While Gerold and Raenar were passing the streets, people were celebrating, throwing roses, cheering and showing their support for their new prince and their prophet. Thanks to them, although there was no more slavery in the city, now, they were richer more than ever. Everyone in the city has his or her own house. They were healthy like a newborn baby. There was no sickness, no draught and no famine. All of this was thanks to Raenar Eragor and the Prophet Gerold.

Soon, they arrived at the palace with all of the city behind them. All of the magisters were waiting for them at the gates. When they saw Raenar and Gerold arrive, they knelt on the ground and shouted, "We welcome the Prince of Lys!"

Raenar was all smiles. The people knelt before him were his rivals just a year ago. They were crushing him in the game of power. Raenar wanted to become better than them but he had no means to do. However, now, he was their Prince and all of them were kneeling before him. Raenar turned to look at Gerold. This man was the one who made all of these possible. He was his greatest fortune. Without him, nothing would have happened. Even gaining the support of one of the magisters would have been impossible.

Raenar turned towards magisters and said, "And I welcome you to Lys! All of you can stand. You made me the Prince and I will make all of you greater than ever. You can be sure about that."

Magisters beamed with smiles while standing up. They went to the chairs which were prepared for them.

Raenar and Gerold went inside of the palace and came out of the balcony. They went to the front and looked at the people. They were still cheering.

Raenar raised his hand to the air and all of the people stopped speaking. They were watching their new prince eagerly.

"People of Lys, today we are celebrating a new age for our great city. Magisters, patrons of our city and our Great Prophet deemed me worthy of becoming your prince. Our Great Prophet showed us the reason why was our city was declining. It was because of the sins we were trading. We, the people of Lys, were trading our own for money. We, the people of Lys, were sinning with our own. For us, there are only two possibilities: Either we will cleanse ourselves and follow the path of our Great Prophet or we will come under the thumb of the demons. This latter must not occur; even if we are not warriors that are able to fight demons, we are a force. With UNITY, we can show the people who are worshipping demons the truth. If we stick close together and keep bringing in new people, we will be victorious over the demons. And our city, Lys will fulfil its destiny by becoming the divine city for our God!"

People started to scream with red eyes, some of them were even crying. They were screaming for their God. They were screaming for their newfound freedom. Finally, they were free of their shackles.

Raenar raised his hand again and they quieted and then, Gerold went forward and started to speak.

"Demons with their method of madness are making a powerful and insidious attack upon humanity. They seek to poison and disrupt in order to hurl us into an epoch of chaos… These demons spared nothing of all that is highest and most valuable. Beginning with our spirit, they have undermined the very foundations of faith. They stained your blood, they stained your soul and they stained your beliefs. For thousands of years, they ruined humanity… The inheritance which has fallen to us is a terrible one. The task with which we are faced is the hardest one. BUT, as the children of God, we must overcome the demons. They shall attack us from every corner. They will stain your soul, your children's soul, your friend's soul and your mother's soul. God has given us powers to cleanse this evil. However, why should the sinners receive our powers? Why they should get blessed while worshipping demons? Thus, I, the Great Prophet decree that from this day on, only the faithful shall receive our blessing and the sinner shall face our wrath. We shall spread his words to the sinners because… GOD'S WILL IT!"

"GOD'S WILL IT!"

"GOD'S WILL IT!"

"GOD'S WILL IT!"

"GOD'S WILL IT!"
