Chereads / The Conundrum / Chapter 51 - First day

Chapter 51 - First day

"Hurry Nora. We'll be late." Tina jumped off the cab and started gathering their luggage.

"They won't leave without us. There's no need worry." Nora said paying the driver, "it's done let's go." She took her bag from her hands and followed her inside Harbour Heaven. Nick was already there, Tina ran into his arms and kissed him hungrily, Nora turned her head away. "Aren't we getting late now?"

"Sorry I lost my composure." Tina said, Nick grabbed her bag and motioned towards Nora's. "No I'll carry it myself."

Nick held Tina's hand and they made their way to the underground parking. They stopped in front of a black off-road jeep, it was huge, the tires were almost above her waist. "Finally you guys came." George stepped from behind the vehicle followed by Rachel and another girl. "Introductions. So this is Sophia, my girlfriend." George said putting his hand around her waist, Sophia giggled, making her platinum blonde hair bounce. "Where's our driver?" George asked.

"Mind that tongue of yours." Luke stepped out from the elevator followed by Jerry. "If you're done, start putting in the luggage."

Jerry stepped up and started helping with the luggage, "Miss Nora." He pointed to her bag. "Thank you." She smiled and handed it to him, "And sorry for last time. He didn't do anything to you, did he?"

Jerry shook his head, "No he didn't and your safety was the first priority."

It took merely ten minutes to stuff up everything with the help of Jerry and they were set to go. "I need a memory. Everyone come here." Tina said taking out her phone. Nora slipped away and stood behind the giant vehicle. Luke was leaning against it, busy with his phone. He was dressed in blue jeans and a white long sleeved t-shirt. He looked like a model promoting casual clothes. Nora looked at him and then turned away. She opened the door to get in, "You don't need a memory?" He smiled.

"No, it's just that this woman is overly excited." She said.

"Aren't you?"

"I am but I can't beat her. And this better be a good trip, I don't want to see her expectations break." She sighed.

"Don't worry, it won't. Now get in we got to leave." Luke said keeping his phone back into his pocket.

Nora stepped back, ready to jump into the jeep, but before she could, Luke grabbed her by the waist, picking her up, he settled her in, "There you go." He smirked. She narrowed her eyes and then started strapping herself, "So George got himself a girlfriend?"

"Yeah. I told you not to worry about that guy, he moves on quick." He took the straps from her hands and put them on for her, "That's how you do it, Dummy. I'll get the others." He closed the door and went away, leaving her seated alone in the jeep.

Tina came in next with Nick beside her. They were in the middle row, George and Sophia sat behind them and Rachel in the passenger seat. "Hope nobody forgot anything." George said. The jeep came to life and they pulled out of the underground parking.

Nora put on her headphones and turned on the music. The Blue Hills was five hours away from Sorane and with the couples in the car it would be an eternity. Rachel and Luke were busy with the directions. Nora looked out at the scenery changing from the urban landscape to rocky terrain.

They stopped at a hotel, "We're here, get out." Luke said taking off his seat belt. Everyone got off.

"Mr. Osborne." A man dressed in a black suit approached them, "It's a pleasure having you here again. The rooms are ready, the luggage will be there soon."

"Thank you." Luke gave a polite smile. The manager passed on the keys to him, "please contact me if you need anything." And he was gone.

"We have three rooms. How do we divide?" Luke asked.

"Give Nick and Tina a room, they can't seem to keep their hands to themselves." George said smugly.

"I have no problem." Nick smirked.

"Okay then. Tina and Nick in one room, George and I in one and Nora, Sophia and Rachel in the last. If that's fine with everyone." Luke shrugged.

"I am fine. Now hurry already I'm tired." Rachel said.

"Here you go." He passed on the keys to everyone. "Hey where's Nora?" Luke asked.

"She said she'll look around a bit, you know taking photos, so no idea." Tina said. "And Luke thank you for making all of the arrangements, this hotel, it's beautiful. I am glad we have you."

"No worries. Just enjoy yourself." He said.

Nora was in lawn clicking pictures. The hotel was magnificent, it was modern and traditional at the same time with every corner photograph worthy. "That'll do for now." She murmured and started walking again, coming to a stop at the pool side. The pool was huge, almost big as a full Olympic size swimming pool. Wooden beach chairs were placed around it with small tables next to them. Not much people were around, she sat down on one of them, looking through her pictures.

"May I join you?" She looked up, it was Luke. "Sure." She replied. He settled down beside her.

"This place is beautiful, I got to say that. Where do you even find such beautiful places?" She turned to him.

"I've been here before and I bet you'll love the hills too." He said, "wait a minute, you clicked that?" He pointed to her phone.

"What? This? Yes I did." Nora held it up.

"Mind if I see them?" She shook her head and handed her phone to him, he started swiping through the pictures she took. "These are beautiful. No kidding, they really are." He said returning her phone.

"Thanks." She smiled.

"Get yourself a camera. You're good at this anyway." He leaned back in the chair.

"A camera? It's too expensive, well the one that I want sure is. Anyway it's just a hobby, so my phone's enough." She nodded. "Putting that aside, what are we going to do today?" She turned to look at him.

"Rest. We go out tomorrow." He said.

"Seriously? We're practically wasting a day like that." She nagged.

"No questions asked. We rest today, tomorrow you'll need this energy of yours so, conserve it." He said getting up. Nora sighed and looked up at him. "Making that face won't get you anywhere. Get to your room and unpack your stuff."

She glared at him, then got up to leave. He smirked at her reaction and followed her inside the hotel.
