Chapter 53 - Meteor shower

"Are you sure you can go?" Sophia said holding onto Nora's hand, "you don't need to force yourself."

"I'm better now, I need to get out and I have slept too much." She said.

Sophia sighed, "Okay then let's go."

They got out of the room and headed down. Everyone was at the reception waiting. Rachel turned around and looked at Nora with a scowl, "Why are you here?"

"I also want to go visit our last destination. Even though I don't know what it is." She shrugged.

"Okay guys no fighting. Let's go, our ride is here." George said.

They walked towards a SUV and Luke stepped out. Nora got in the back seat, "Move a little forward." Luke said. She looked at him, he was standing beside her at opened door. She bent forward and he stuffed a pillow behind her, "That'll do for now." He murmured.

She leaned back and looked at him, "Thanks and what about the jeep?"

"It's on a day off, you could say." He shrugged.

"I see." She nodded. "Let's get going I don't want to miss the surprise."

The path wasn't smooth as the roads, it was only half an hour into the journey when George shouted, "We're here. Be careful there are no lights round here."

He got off taking Sophia's hand in his with one of the flashlights and started walking.

"I'll go with you." Rachel said looking at Luke.

"Well I think I'll have to pass, she–" he pointed at Nora, "needs help. She'll take her time. I think you should go ahead we'll follow you guys."

"If that's what you want." Rachel said half heartedly and grabbed the flashlight and followed George and Sophia.

"Well it's not like I cannot walk. But some help would be nice. And you're welcome." Nora said getting off the car. Luke smirked and followed her.

"Where are we going?" Nora asked looking up at him.

"For a meteor shower, up that place." He pointed towards an elevated mass of land. "Don't worry there are steps cut for ease." She sighed in relief and started walking, taking small steps.

After a short distance, the others were way ahead of them, "Sorry I am stalling you. You might miss the meteor shower because of me." Nora said looking at them.

"We still have an hour don't worry. Take your own sweet time." Luke said.

"And I also want to thank you again. You saved my life without even caring about yourself. I might not be standing here–"

"Don't utter such nonsense." Luke cut her off, "you're here beside me right now unharmed. End of discussion." He snapped. Nora looked at him, confused but decided on not saying anything.

The sky was completely dark, with a few twinkling stars when they reached the place. "Where's the shower?" Nora said sitting down on the ground.

"In my pocket." Luke rolled his eyes. "Stay here I'll be right back." Nora looked at him leave and move to George, he smacked him on his back and talked to him for a moment. Then Rachel called him and took him away from them. Their conversation started calmly but then it heated up and Luke stepped forward and said something to her. Rachel looked at him bewildered and then walked away. He stood there for sometime, then returned to George and Sophia. Nora sat at her spot looking up at the sky, she took out her phone and messaged Tina–"You're missing something really good." And pressed the send button.

She got a reply immediately–"You might think so. But this candle light dinner is amazing. Now don't distract me." Nora smirked and kept her phone in her pocket.

As she looked up she saw a glowing white streak, then another and then a lot of them. "Look, look!" Sophia shouted. The dark sky was now bright. Falling after one another, the meteors, lighted up the sky beautifully.

"What do you think?" Luke was now beside her.

"It's beautiful." Nora looked at him and then turned her gaze back to the sky.

"Yes, very beautiful." He said looking down at her smiling face. With Nora looking at the sky, his eyes were fixed on her.

"It's over." Sophia sighed, "but it was so out of this world."

Luke came back to his senses, and looked at George, "Want to stay?"

"Don't think so. We need to leave tomorrow morning. Then we have our finals. Let's wrap it up." He shrugged.

"As you wish." He held Nora under her arms and picked her up. "I can stand on my own." She snapped.

"Sorry I forgot that." He smiled. "Now that you're up walk back to–" He was cut off by a scream. He turned around to see Rachel on the ground and screaming at the top of her voice. Everyone rushed towards her, Sophia was already squatting down beside her. "Her ankle, she sprained her ankle. It's severe." She said.

"Are you sure babe?" George said.

"Yes I checked it." Sophia got up and brushed off the dust on her top.

"It's hurting a lot." Rachel said almost in tears.

"Try to get up. We'll help you." George said helping her up, she stumbled back onto the ground. "It's useless. I cannot walk." She looked at them, and then stared intently at Luke. He caught her gaze and then sighed, "I'll help." He bent down and picked her in his arms. "George you'll drive." He said moving ahead each of them.

The drive back was silent, none of them spoke. Back at the hotel, the employees helped Rachel down and took her to the emergency room. "Good night everyone." And everybody was off to their rooms.

Luke went down with Rachel to the emergency room. She limped through the corridor to the elevator, "Can you help me?" She said.

"I already am." He said looking down at his hand on her waist, "That's the best I can do. I am tired too."

"Luke you are avoiding me. Stop doing this." She snapped. They stepped into the elevator. "Since you know it so stop going after me. Do you understand what you're doing is called harming yourself and I won't change my mind in any case. So stop it." He let go of her when they reached their floor and turned towards his room.

"She is in my room. Who knows what I might do to her. And you know I will do it." She smirked. Luke turned around to look at her but the expression was not what she was expecting. He took a step forward and smiled, "You really think you can do anything to her? It will not be easy for you to even lay a finger on her let alone harming her. So good luck on that." He turned his back to her and continued towards his room. Rachel looked at him leave, fuming with anger. She stomped her foot and went to the room.

Nora was on the couch, with an ice pack on her back. She slammed the door, and stood in front of her. "Your foot alright?" Nora asked.

"Don't pretend you care. You're manipulating him and I know it. Oh you just wait you're going to regret everything." Then she limped her way to her room and slammed the door. "Did she sprain her head?" Nora murmured.
