Chapter 25 - A Peek

Rui cried for more than half an hour. Even though he felt secure to be with both his father and Wu SuYi it appeared as though there was a strong fear in his heart that caused a deep scar on his heart, causing him to cry for the longest time.

Wu SuYi let the little boy to cry. She knew that a person would need the time for them to pour out all the emotions that had bottled inside them. Instead of tired, she felt quite happy to know Rui had let her become a place of comfort for him. Someone he could let his tears to fall in front of.

Han XiGuang sat on the chair near them as she sat on the bed, carrying Rui on her arms until he fell asleep. Han XiGuang took Rui back to his arms as he made sure his son had sleep peacefully.

"Thank you," Han XiGuang expressed his gratitude once again. He looked at Rui and gently placed his son's head to his shoulders.

"Don't mention it," she responded.

"You must be tired yourself, I will bring you back home," Han XiGuang said, "At night, it's dangerous for you to go back home alone, especially when you are sleepy."

As he spoke, by chance, a loud yawn left Wu SuYi's lips. He looked at her and chuckled, making her hope the ground would swallow her up.

She shook her head, "You should go home quickly and bring Rui to sleep;. I'm less sleepier than you think I am. Usually when I was still in university, I would stay up until four in the morning."

"Four?" Han XiGuang raised his eyebrows in surprise, "I know of a friend who slept less but for him, it was an illness."

"Back then I was desperate," Wu SuYi responded. She would close herself from the outside world and barely let a whisper of her past, but since she had spoken to Han XiGuang of her past, she had began to reveal a little more about herself.

Han XiGuang took this gap from her as a pleasant reward to him, causing him to smile.

"Nothing is wrong with being desperate. As long as you know how to achieve your goal without taking the shortest route."

Wu SuYi chuckled, "I never knew how to take the shortest route. All I know was how to take it straight face on. I was always serious in some foolish way."

"Were you running away?" Han XiGuang questioned. There was a line he placed as though letting her to decide whether to answer him or not.

"In a way, yes," Wu SuYi answered, she looked away with a smile. "It's the only thing that kept me alive for eighteen years of my life."

"Running away? Or to become a lawyer?" Han XiGuang continue to ask as they leave the hospital.

"Both. I wanted to become a lawyer to escape my family. I always thought that it might had been a terrible goal for me to chase after."

"Why?

"Most people who wanted to become a lawyer all had a very beautiful purpose but to compare with me, who wanted to run away from everything, it felt impure," Wu SuYi took a fresh breath of air as they both left the hospital building, she turned to look at Han XiGuang as the same time when a gust of wind blew over her hair, letting it scattered to the sky.

Han XiGuang who looked at her stared at her beauty, finding all second to admire her lovely image as precious.

"That's why I promised myself to protect those who are oppressed and help the weak," Wu SuYi took a step closer, surprising Han XiGuang who was standing four steps away from her.

"Also," she whispered, "I just remembered it now, but if you wish to have Aunt Liu punished accordingly to the rules of law, I will be here to help you and make sure Rui have the comfort of knowing everyone who had hurt him will never again be able to attempt doing the same thing ever again."

Han XiGuang smiled warmly, "Thank you again. All you did was to help me even though I promised to help you when you needed next."

"I love helping, don't mind it," she smiled. "The car—"

"Get in," Han XiGuang requested as he opened his door for her. "Don't worry. I will have one of my men to bring you home. I can't exactly bring you back home now but it never hurt to be careful."

Wu SuYi couldn't respond immediately but it was true that she felt thankful for Han XiGuang's consideration.

"You're kind, you know that. I am sure Rui is the happiest with you. Don't blame yourself for what happened to him. Instead, spend more time with him whenever you can. I can feel that Rui's pillar to her heart is you," Wu SuYi slowly raised her hand, patting Rui's forehead gently.

"Thanks for the ride. I will be leaving now, see you next time," Wu SuYi stated her farewell before entering the car. Even though today was a long day, she couldn't explain the fullness she felt in her heart. It was a mix of happiness and many other emotions.

She held a smile as she rode the car, thinking how she would definitely be having a beautiful dream tonight.

When he arrived back to his house, Han XiGuang placed Rui on the side of his bed. His finger settled on his lower lips while he recalled all that happened inside his mind.

Having a great memory, Han XiGuang could see all that had happened to him again replaying inside his mind. He recalled on how today was a day filled with flaw but strangely enough, it was filled with a perfect plan for him and Wu SuYi.

He tapped on his finger on the side of his table.

Wu SuYi had called him a kind person but she barely knew everything about him. In this world, there was only a handful of people he could be kind with. Toward most things, he felt uninterested and at times even have no remorse for what others would feel guilty for.

What Wu SuYi knew about him was still a part of him, he didn't hid anything from her, however, the truth was he wasn't as kind as she thought he was.

"Kind," he whispered again shaking his head. When he received the call, Han XiGuang answered it without a hesitation.

"Auntie had done her mistake. I have zero concern of what would happen to her now. No mother. No kindness is allowed," Han XiGuang stressed his words. "I plan to bring her to court. I have a good lawyer to assist me. After that," Han XiGuang chuckled. His smiled tilting in darkness. "I will let the entire world know what Auntie did. I can't kill her legally but I could destroy her social life."

"Oh dear," Han XiGuang's mother voice slipped from the phone. "Don't be too hasty, dearie. But if that what you think is the best, mom will always support you."
