Chapter 6 - Ch. 6: Satisfactory

The crowd was silent as the Captain began to speak, "Let this be a lesson to any new merchants here today. Law dictates you register your women at the gates. If you have any questions about that, please find the gatekeeper and he will instruct you on the proper procedures to follow." The Captain then ordered his guards to clean up the mess and take the carriages to the capital.

Slowly, the crowd began to disperse and I found myself needing coverage to conceal myself. I looked around hurriedly and located an apothecary down the street. As I quickly weaved my way through the remaining crowd, I heard a clear voice coming from inside the apothecary's shop.

"I wish Captain Sarce wouldn't make a scene here in the market. If he wanted to make an example of someone, he could have very well brought them to the arena. My brother could have dealt with them accordingly."

I slipped through a side entrance, and hunched down as I waited for a chance to grab some medical supplies. Since I had no money on me, the only way to get what I needed was to steal it.

"Ah, but old Sarce likes making examples outside of the arena. Gives him more of an opportunity to strut his stuff." An old man, presumably the shopkeeper, chuckled in reply.

"Still. My brother will not be pleased with street killing," the younger man replied. From what I could see, he appeared youthful and handsome with black hair and brown eyes. He gave off an air of nobility and was garbed in light colored robes of quality silk.

"Well m'lord, I suppose your the only one who would be able to let your brother know without fear of execution. Sarce don't like it none when common folk get into his business."

"Perhaps I will bring it up at the banquet tonight. But enough about that, where do I need to place this elixir? I believe I have finally mastered a quality health potion." The young man held the bottle up to the light to admire his work.

"Let's just see about that. Gimme a taste," the shopkeeper reached for the bottle and dabbed a drop on his tongue. He savored it for a moment and appeared thoughtful.

"Well? Did I make it right?"

"I believe you will make an excellent doctor one day your highness! Most satisfactory if I do say so myself."
