"Okay, you guys will be staying at that building over there."
Dia turned her head and saw a big white 3-story house at the direction Maria pointed.
"Unknown." Dia blurted out.
"What?" Maria asked.
"The gold writing on the door, it says 'Unknown'" Dia said.
The color of Maria's face drained.
Dia noticed and asked:
"Was it something I said?"
"No, it's just that. . ."
"What?"
"How can you read that?"
"Huh?"
"What you read was Hybridian, it's very hard to learn if your first language is English."
"Okay. . ." Dia said smoothly, still weirded by the fact she could read Hybridian.
Dia and her friends then went to sleep, but Dia just couldn't sleep so she walked around the camp.
Despite being embedded in the side of a mountain, the camp was cozy and warm. The side of the mountain was facing east and was dug out and inside was a 5-story building which she assumed to be the infirmary. There were 3 walls, as the 4th one was the mountain itself. All of the other walls were made of wood.
The wall facing north had 3 lodges emmbeded into it, while the wall facing south had 4 lodges.
The wall facing west had a mint colored house lined with white.
And in the middle of the camp was a very huge training ground with an armory on each side.
On each armory was any type of weapon, ranging from swords and daggers to garrote wires to bows and guns.
Hours later, Dia wandered to the Archery Range.
Suddenly feeling inspired, she picked up a bow and inserted an arrow.
The bow was light but she knew that it was made by a powerful metal. The arrow was deadly sharp, one shot at your vital organs and you could go into a coma.
She pulled at the string, closed her eyes, and let go.
She opened her eyes to see a sight she could not believe.
The arrow had hit the red circle in the middle.
"Anak sa sawa!" She cursed.
She turned and saw everyone at the Archery Range was staring at her with their mouths open.
"What's going on here?!" A voice boomed. It was masculine.
Dia turned and saw a man who was maybe in his forties, he had dark grey hair with a beard to match and ice blue eyes giving a sense of authority. She also noticed that her friends were behind him.
One of the archers pointed at the Dia's bullseye shot with the bow.
The man and her friends turned their heads to see the target and their jaws dropped at once.
"Not only that, she even cussed in Hybridian!" Another archer said in heavily accented English.
"She what!?" Maria yelled.
"Anak sa sawa, is that a cuss?" Dia asked innocently.
"You even have an accent!?" Maria exclaimed.
"Dia! Paunsa ka naka isturya ana?" Anorie exclaimed. As it came out, she cupped her mouth.
Everyone turned their heads to Anorie.
"Holy. . ." Maria groaned. "You 2, come with me. Now!"
"Yes, ma'am." The 2 girls said in unison.
The girls then followed Maria and the man into a 2-story building painted mint green lined with white. When they entered, the first thought Dia had was that it was cozy.
There was a brick fireplace in the side and the walls were lined with pictures of people and beautiful scenery, mostly of sunrises and sunsets.
"Okay, now tell me. How do you do it?" The man asked.
"Uh. . . Do I know you?" Anorie asked, earning a smack to the neck from Dia.
"Oh, where are my manners? I'm Charles Brown."
"Can I call you just Mr. Brown?" Dia asked.
"Of course, dear."
Then him and Dia exchanged warm smiles.
"Okay. So, how do you do it?" Maria asked.
"What?" Dia asks as she and Anorie sit down.
"How do you do it? How are you skilled in weapons and in Hybridian?" She ranted.
"We don't know!" Dia and Anorie yelled at the same time.
"And what do you mean skilled in weapons?" Dia asked.
"Before we found you, Anorie was playing with a garrote wire and just so happened to chop an armour stand to cubes." Mr. Brown explained.
"So I excel at long-range fighting and Anorie excels at medium-range fighting." Dia stated.
"Yes, that seems like it." Mr. Brown stated. Suddenly, he then threw a log from the fireplace at Dia and Anorie.
Dia's instincts acted up and she conjured a barrier in front of her and Anorie, bright colored energy swirling around her hands.
"Your insticts are very sharp." Mr. Brown stated.
"Thank you for the complement." Dia said.
"But, what is Hybridian anyway?" Anorie asked.
"Let me explain, Maria." Mr. Brown said.
"Of course, sir." Maria said, and with that she went out.
Mr. Brown then explained that Hybridian was the language spoken in this particular area and to humans it's a language called Bisaya, a dialect in the Philippines.
Maria then entered the room and said:
"Dia, Anorie, you should sleep. It's almost 6 o'clock."
"Okay." Dia muttered.
They went out and saw the moonlight shimmering around. Dia smiled and entered the white building, entered a room, and fell asleep with a smile on her face.
For the next 6 weeks, Maria and Mr. Brown intensely observed Dia, Anorie, and her friends.
Dia turned out to be a natural at long-range fighting, she also was good with a bow, guns, and even dagger throwing.
But when she couldn't access her weapons, she was skilled in martial arts and could easily use magic in destruction.
Anorie turned out to be good in medium-range fighting, skilled with a garrote wire and spear but could also use a dagger.
She was a natural at martial arts and when needed, could conjure serious damage using magic.
Jess was close-range fighting with a dagger.
It was obvious that she could control the ground, but she wasn't really skilled in martial arts.
Rochelle was good with a pistol and sword.
She easily knew how to control her powers and was slightly skilled in martial arts.
Dia and her friends were tired from all the training they got. But they still smilled, after all the training was something they would need be grateful in the future.
