"So, what happened between Jake and you? He looks so heartbroken". Maddie asks raising an eyebrow at him.
I furrow my brows and frowned at him "What do you mean?" I ask.
She rolled her eyes "Really? Are you still denying?"
"Look Maddie, I don't know what you're talking about at all. And I have nothing to deny". I said through gritted teeth.
"Did you say something to him to make him look like that?" She probed further.
"I didn't say anything to him. In fact, he ran out of the classroom without even waiting for me. He said he heard a bad news".
"Bad news huh?" Maddie looks deep in thought "Why isn't he telling me?" She mumbled. "He's so dense sometimes".
"He didn't tell you anything?" I ask.
Maddie shook her head "No. I've always told him my problems. It's not fair". She pouts.
I shook my head "I'm sure he has a reason to not tell you". I say, and she nodded.
"By the way, are you coming to this saturday?" Maddie asks, sitting up from her bed.
"Yeah. Didn't Jake tell you?"
"No he didn't tell me anything".
"Anyway, I have to go the store to get some things." I stood up from the bed.
"Do you even know where the store is?". Maddie asks
"No." I suddenly realized I didn't even know where the store is and I don't bring my car.
"That means I'll come with you". Maddie says getting up from the bed
"But I don't want to bother you"
"No problem. I don't have anything to do anyway". She says grinning at me. Well if you put it that way.
"Okay. Thanks"
"Friends don't say that to friends". Maddie says and took her keys.
The store was not that far so, we reached in no time. I try to memorise the direction so next time, I won't bother Maddie again or anyone.
"Hey you go look what you want. I'll just go to that section to buy me some clothes" Maddie says pointing at the dress section. I nodded.
"Sure."
She gave me one last smile before strutting away.
I need a new toothbrush, a toothpaste and a notepad, and of course tampons. That's the main things.
After an hour, Maddie came back with a lot of bags. What did she bought?
"Hey, Can we go to the food section?" She asks. "I'm kind of hungry".
"Sure, let me just pay for this".
She nodded and we went to the cashier to pay. She was a lovely lady. She smiled widely at us.
"What will you have miss?" The waiter, a boy, maybe my age or younger, asks me. He was handsome too, with his light hair and warm brown eyes.
"Just call me Emily and I'll just have burger and fries". I said smiling up at him.
He looks to Maddie "Me too" she quickly answers.
After taking our orders, he winks at me and left. I just shook my head and smile while Maddie gave me a teasing smile.
"He has hots for you". I opened my mouth to deny it but she beats me to it "Don't even try to deny it". She warns.
Maddie and I chatted, saying about random things and giggling uncontrollably. Acting like this again brought back memories with my best friend. I miss them.
"Well well well, if it isn't the small girls". Came a deep voice. Maddie and I turn our heads to see Cayden and a brunette. She was tall for a girl, she reached Cayden's shoulder. And she too had grey eyes. She was stunning. Is she her girlfriend? The brunette was holding on his arm like a leech she is.
I don't know why but I feel a pang on my chest but I quickly dismissed it.
"Oh Hi Cayden, Elena". Maddie greets smiling at them. So the brunette's name was Elena. Wait! How did Maddie know her?
"Hi Maddie and who's this?" Elena asks looking at me curiously.
"That's Emily" Maddie says. As if I am not here.
"Hi Emily. My name's Elena. Cayden's sister". She smiled at me, and I stared at her wide eyes. sister? I look back to Cayden's black hair to Elena's brown hair. They look nothing alike except for their grey eyes.
"Hello" I feel awkward, for cursing her in my head even though she didn't know that. I feel bad. Cayden was staring at me again, and I resisted the urge to squirm under Cayden's intense calculating gaze.
"No greetings for me?" Cayden taunts, smirking at me.
I stare up at him "Oh. I didn't see you there". I feigned innocence. Who will ever miss him? He's hot. Did I just say that?
He stares into my eyes and I didn't relent, staring right up at him. From my peripheral vision, I see Maddie and Elena looking back and forth between us. Maddie with amusement while Elena in puzzlement.
I sigh and retracted my eyes away from him. Maddie will surely ask me if there's anything between us again.
"Here Emily, your order" The boy came back again and I almost hug him for breaking the awkward tension. He smiled widely at me and I almost say cute. But I refrained myself and instead smiled back at him.
"Thank you". He nodded and hand Maddie, her order. "Here Miss".
Maddie raised an eyebrow at him "No smile for me? Is that only for Emily?" She teases.
The boy blush and smiled at her. He was so cute.
Then Cayden suddenly flop down beside me and took my lunch from me.
"I'll take this." He announce and smiled at me. "Thank you for ordering for me. Sweetheart". He smiled sickly at me.
What. The .Hell??
"But that's--" The boy tried to say but he snapped his mouth shut when Cayden shoot him a glare. What is wrong with him?
"It's okay. I'll just take another one". I said smiling at him. But inside I was seething from anger with Cayden.
The boy smiled awkwardly "O-Okay". He turn his head to Elena who seated herself beside Maddie "And what would you like Miss?".
"I'll take the same as Emily". She smiles at him. The boy nodded and scurried away from our table.
"What is wrong with you?" I seethe silently.
"I don't know what you're talking about". Cayden shrugged innocently. And It makes me more angry.
"Oh Really?". He hummed and took a bite of his-my fries. "Give me that". I snatch the plate away from him "Wait for that next order. This is mine".
He merely chuckled at me, "Yes really, I was just hungry".
"Hungry my ass." I hissed at him "Give me another".
"Besides, he was trying to get into your pants. I help you. A heartfelt thank you would suffice". He shrugged carelessly.
"He was not. He was just friendly which you lack". I hissed.
"Friendly my ass." He hissed back and glared at me.
"Oh yeah? What if he gets into my pants? What's it to you?" I asked. He gritted his teeth. Fingers clenching tightly.
"Cayden--" Elena starts but Cayden just ignored her.
"I told you he's trying to get into your pants" He more of shouted, some people were looking at us, but Cayden don't seem to mind. He was busy glaring at me.
"It's none of your business".
He inhaled deeply, and just glare at me "Fine" He shouts then stood up and went out of the cafe, slamming the door harshly on the way. He looks like a young boy whose mom denied him a lolipop. He's so childish. A childish Jerk!
People were whispering to each other and staring at me, my face flushed from embarrassment."I'm sorry". I mumbled ducking my head. Look what you've done. Cayden.
"Hey it's okay. My brother's a bit temperamental. But I'm sure he'll cool off eventually. I'm sorry for that". Elena says and with a smile and got out from the cafe too.
Maddie whistles lowly under her breath when Elena disappeared "That was intense" she breathes and I cracked a smile.
"I don't know what's wrong with him. All he does is annoy me and made me angry. And I don't even know why I let him get under my skin". I grumbled.
Maddie laughs "You are so dense" I furrow my brows in confusion. what's she saying?
I'm not dense.
"What?"
"Nothing. You'll eventually find out". She smiled weirdly at me. I just shook my head and continue my lunch.
Oh God! Give me strength so that I can graduate without any problem. And courage to put up with Cayden.
