But I am more shocked than her. How does she know about this? She has to be the danger I was warned about. She is the enemy or may be his accomplice. She is hideous. It has gotten worst now. Anger is boiling up with in, but I don't want to hurt her even if I feel like killing her.
"How do you know about this" I hiss at her.
"What do you mean how??? She whispered and rushes near me. "God!! Are you okay?? You sure you are not in any sort of danger? No one followed you here?? "She was too much concerned; frantic. This is bad. Huh.. What an actor.
"HOW DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS?" I grab her shoulders hard. She winced a little but I don't care. I see a danger I kill it. I have already so much red on my ledger a little more won't change much.
"Oh that??"She looks like she was pulled out of a trance "I was reading about this the whole time. . . Here" she passes the book she was reading.
"It is in there. Everything. Apparently it belonged to the legendry blood knight, who had some extraordinary undefined and unidentified skills. He played one single course and then vanished out into thin air. No one ever knows where he came from, who was he? All they knew was he is a guy around 20. His voice was calmer than the monks, the book says and his eyes never showed an emotion. He never let a war cry out nor did he say much. He came, fought every round won without fail and left, vanished." She let all this out at once, breathless.
I stand there shocked. This is too much to process.
"he had this one weird mask, covering two-third of his face. It was made from some very rare and undefined materials. These metals can apparently heighten your senses and emotional state. They can amplify all the good energy around them. He called it the Mask Of Winterwar, and he was THE DRAGON KNIGHT.
While fighting, a small, very tiny part of that mask broke, and that's how people could know about this." She was giving every bit of information she absorbed. She was like a sponge, an encyclopaedia: never ending.
I release her and she stumbles. So, it was in the book. She might be framing that though. I can't believe her anymore. She is just too horrific. How can she be such a good actress?
As if reading my mind she stood up and flipped through the pages.
"Here, have a look."
The book had little descriptive images contrary to what she said.
As I read a single paragraph particularly becomes eye catchy.
And the legendary fight master, the Dragon Night vanished into thin smoke. No one really saw how he looked, where he was from. He carried a strangely designed sword. A sword made of; later know as, the silver Aquament. The further excavations at the NORE tribal hub didn't give any positive results, though the RemmY Corporations have claimed to get the rarest and the purest Aquament ever found. It was too little to be extracted in large amounts; hence they denied selling it to anyone.
So MASTER is the Dragon Knight and he has the only sword made Silver Aquament. And my dagger is one of the rarest of all daggers to be made of pure Aquament.
For any normal person this is too much to take in, too many shocks in one single day, too many revelations and too much of responsibility. I think I know how Spiderman would have felt. The only difference is he had to save the world and I have to fight for survival. This is really criminal. I sigh for the millionth time now and I pick up the dagger.
" so, how did you get this? You know you have to be very careful when it comes to the legendary articles" she stood up and was now looking right into my eyes.
May be she is right about the mask; it does amplify one's senses. I can read their expression with surety. This time, with her, it was concern and fears both genuine.
"THIS" I scowl " has nothing to do with you. Get out of here as soon as you can."I hiss at her. my voice colder like never before. I just don't want her near me anymore. She is a traitor. My head says so.
I see the colour draining from her face and in a fraction of second, she turns completely pale. I loosen my grip and she stumbles towards the chair. It took me sometime to realise what I was going.
The Aquament touched directly at her wrist when I held her tight. It stopped all the vital energy tracks.
Holy hell!! She will die at this rate. I run to her side.
"LYNN!! Are you alright?"god, what have I done? maybe she is bad and deserves worst but I am not really sure about her intentions and she is too young to die a virgin. What am I even thinking?
"LYNN!"I shake her head slightly.
She was trying hard to breath, trying to pull as much air as she can. She was still pale. And slowly, her breathing became normal. She stood up her head still bowed down.
"um..SWORD, I think I should go home now." She was really quite this time.
"And I am really sorry. I know I shouldn't pry into someone else's life but I was just worried when I saw this with you because I have been reading about the Aquament and the legendary mask the whole evening. Just so you know, it has nothing else to do with anything else. Good night SWORD"
She bowed one last time took her bag and silently left. It is weird to see someone bow at you, and more weird when they apologise for not doing anything. It feels more frustrating when they let things go peacefully, when they just let go of everything, when you know you have messed up a big time and hurt someone and they don't even want to harm you. They want you safe.
I should feel happy for she left but I don't . I have this strange feeling, like guilt. Before I could think of what o do, I have a strong urge to run after her.
I quickly run down the streets to see her sitting under the big street light. She head is still held down, hair falling down her sides, her fingers trembling on her screen. She dials a number. I stand close to listen to her.
"Hello?? Mom? I was at the library today. Can you call the cab for me? I tried walking home but got lost. Yes. I know. I am sorry. I will keep that in mind. Mom...hello?? Hello??" she sighs.
Mom huh???
She presses the on button harder. The phone doesn't switch on. She takes a deep breath holds it for a few moments and releases a quite audible sigh. And slowly steadily her shoulders start to shake, quiver. I had to look at close to see what it was. She was crying, a noiseless cry. She was hurt. I wouldn't have cared if it was any one. But somehow I felt wronged for her. for this first time I was angry on everything I did to her.
Even for a few moments, I want to let go of everything that happened. Traitor or not, I want to hold her close and comfort her. for the time being I feel like, somehow she isn't the danger, somehow she is innocent, maybe she isn't linked to my chasers.
I walk towards her. I feel bad, embarrassed actually "hey... LYNN?? What are you doing here?" I ask with a plastered smile.
She stood up the moment she heard my voice. " I was... I was exhausted I am about to go home now." she said, even without looking at me. And without sparing me a second look, she walked away, her head held low.
