Chapter 59 - Escape or not!

Another emissary fell on the ground, his mana dissipating. Five of the eight bronze ranked emissaries had already fallen. There remained only four more. The battle seemed to be tilting towards the princess favour for the moment.

[A/N: The moon marking on the emissaries was confusing. So I changed it. Here it is for better understanding.

Bronze moon- bronze emissary: peak Inceptus to initial Medius mages. Silver moon- silver emissary: mid to peak Medius Mages. Gold moon- gold emissary: Advanced Mages]

The blinding light deterring the movements of the assassins while countering the elemental effect of the silver emissary, and also with the supplementing crowd control of Kiel in this environment seems to be the important factor for this.

It seemed even the emissaries noticed this as their attacks became more chaotic and spread. Kiel could only pinpoint their positions not how they attack, so if it continued more it would eventually become unfavourable for them.

As Kiel was the one coordinating everyone's movement he was the first to notice this. He knew that they were hanging on a tightrope now. The girls had already exhausted their mana reserves. And as he noticed the bright light of his stun grenade decreasing its intensity, he gave the order to retreat solemnly.

"Princess I think it is time to retreat."

Tia was enjoying the fight but after hearing Kiel's words, she also came to her senses and witnessed the worse conditions of the team. She tightly grabbed her Meow and looked to her sisters.

"Huh? Why should we retreat? Aren't we winning? " Ruyu was the first to complain about a sour face. It seems it was right to label her as a muscle brain as she said this even when she was panting as her life depended on it.

"Ruyu behave yourself. It is not time to argue. It is best to withdraw now." It seems Shina also noticed the situation. She looked at Kiel and nodded once. 'Looks like I got the approval of the kind onee-san.'

[A/N: onee-san is the older sister in Japanese]

"Ok! If you say so." Ruyu and Lea also nodded.

"Ok follow me." Although the emissaries number had decreased a lot, they still were encircling them.

The silver emissary was standing in the direction of the forest exit. But going towards the direction of the Silver emissary may result in a disastrous result as he could bind anyone down.

So they had no choice but to enter deeper into the forest.

Kiel unsheathed his katana and waved it, walking flat into the bright light. He moved through the three Star emissaries at the back swiftly, avoiding their attacks while leading the girls away.

The Three-Star emissaries were all numbed by the smoke of the bang, as they were near to the light explosion. Their hands and feet were slower than usual, impeding their movements.

As the pressure lessened, every one of the girls had already put the masks on, so they had no problem like the emissaries. With a little bit of effort, they were able to break the formation of the people and dive towards the deeper forest.

"Damn you"

As the bright light slowly faded out, the silver emissary could see the girls escaping. It really got on his nerves as everything seeing his prey escape his clutches.

This mission would have paved the road to his successful career. For the first time when he sighted the mission, he was a little afraid knowing it required him to kill the daughter of a duke of the Areneu Kingdom. However, after knowing the details of his employee, he finally knew he had nothing to be afraid of, much less after witnessing the rewards offered. So he quickly took his chance.

But he was not a fool. He was an assassin. He knew that the mission was not that easy, as the princess's escort was never bound to be some hillbillies.

So he had delicately crafted a plan to lure the girls into the mutant beast under the guise of beast breaking through by feeding false information in the disguise of rumours; after getting the information about the princess's upcoming schedules from his employer.

The princess's death would be blamed a mutant beast attack on the whole caravan. As he had planned to never let anyone live longer than the night, no one could trace it to an assassination. And with the support of his employer, it would just be regarded as a misfortune accident.

Everything worked out almost perfectly. None among the caravan dwellers were alive anymore. And though it was out of his expectation that the princess was still alive. But seeing the conditions of them and their numbers, he knew that he could still get the outcome that he wanted.

However, just when he thought that everything was playing as his heart's desire, from who knows where an insignificant kid came and threw water on his every dream. Something small dropped in front of him and bang!

A bright flash which seemed to be even capable of deterring his shadow element spread out. He even mistook it for a light element enchanted magic tool, but quickly denied such a possibility as he had never heard of such a tool.

'Should I use that?'

Seeing his prey escaping out of his reach, while his minions were injured and he himself had suffered a backlash due to the sudden halting of his shadow magic, he seriously contemplated whether he should use that.

[A/N: Backlash of shadow element is a unique feature of this element. It will be explained in more detail later on.]

Although accomplishing this mission was bound to make his career-driven to success. But if he missed this opportunity and the prey recovered their energy back, then the mission difficulty would increase by a notch. However, That was his final lifeline which he got after betting his life on the line. And moreover, he could use it only once.

So he was seriously contemplating his next move whether he should give chase alone or use that and end it now? If he gave chase alone and they had some of the rare mana potions in stock, he would be in serious trouble, if they recovered a little.

'But… '

Just as he was in the midst of a serious dilemma on mulling over his next move, a profound voice rang in his head.

[Use your treasure! I wanna see what interesting things that little kid wanna do… I hope you don't disappoint me!]

'Huh! Interface what was that?'

[...]

Although he didn't get a reply as usual, and the last words in his mind seem to be not directed towards him, he knew what that voice signified. And if Kiel was here, he would have quickly shouted that he had clearly heard this voice in his dream!

The silver emissary had heard about a legend from his predecessors in the gold level that sometimes a profound voice rang in their mind through their INTERFACE directing them towards their next objective.

And if they completed it, they would rack a huge fortune after submitting their tasks. They said it was one of the hidden quests their boss directed them. But no one was sure.

However, the silver emissary had already sought his new path now. Looking onto the escaping herd, he steeled himself and took out something from inside his clothes. It was eerily an...eye!

Yes, it was an eye, a grotesque big eye almost twice as big as a human eye with the blue sclera and green pupils with very distinct features. However, the most fascinating thing about it was that it oozed out tremendous pressure around it. From the looks of it, it was definitely a high-grade mana tool.

The silver emissary got it from an ancient ruin after a lot of life and death struggles.

After taking it out. He now hesitated no more. Clutching it tightly he poured his pure mana into the eye. And he could feel the pupil on the eye draining his mana and radiating a blue colour. Seeing the unknown level magic tool activating, he quickly directed it towards the escaping group.

Kiel and his group were busy escaping through the woods when suddenly the air around them felt very heavy. They all felt a chill run down their spine. But they didn't even get the time to realize what was happening when a pressure so huge that even lifting a boulder seemed heavy came crashing down at them.

The sudden heavy pressure tipped them off their feet and all of them fell on the ground head-on. Bang!

The maid girls were already way too exhausted because of the fight. And with the sudden increase in pressure, they lost their consciousness.

Even Kiel failed to register what happened in the blink of an eye. Just now they had already escaped clearly but then what happened. Just as he came back to his senses, a notification rang across his ears.

[Beep… Host has entered a high-density gravity field. Gravity in the immediate vicinity is scaled to be five times the usual gravity.

Warning: Internal damage and bleeding due to heavy pressure. Host is alerted to escape his fastest. Too much exposure to the gravity field may cause undesirable damages.]
