Kiel was sure that she saw the gentle Shina having a creepy grin on her face face for a moment as she wielded the dazzling green magic ball in her hand, and walked right in front of Tia, obstructing the silver Emissary.
After the Silver Emissary displayed the [Ghost Claw], wisps of gloomy grey light had pervaded the air. But being influenced by the increase in wind pressure, even the Silver Emissary had difficulty controlling it. He curled his fingers and pushed forward, as he encircled Shina with other bronze emissaries.
"Lea, take TIa and go first! I and Ruyu will stop these dogs here." Shina shouted. When wielded by her, the magic ball in her hand gave out a bright green light with numerous tiny wind needles which was able to obstruct the enemy.
About fifty meters behind the Blood Orchid's emissaries, Kiel suddenly stopped his crawl near an aged hedge. Concealing himself behind the aged hedge, he gazed ahead with a stiff face, his eyes shining in a slight red hue in the dark even unknown to him.
Every Silver Emissary from the Blood Orchid is at least a Medius Rank. And that silver Emissary, with the half moon pattern on his shoulder, had already reached the Peak Stage of Medius Rank.
[A/N: No moon- bronze emissary. Half moon- silver emissary. Full moon- gold emissary]
It was too much for him to handle on his own. If Kiel hastily took action, he would be easily killed before he could even move near Tia and the rest. So he was speculating about the various scenarios for the best possible approach.
A few seconds later, his eyes flickered. Grabbing his bag from his back without making any noise, Kiel cautiously opened it and took out his trump card wrapped in a soft cloth which he had been saving for a rainy day like this.
Unfastening the cloth wrap, Kiel's eyes radiated a weird glint. Looking at the masterpiece he had created after three years of all his hard work, Kiel was even reluctant to part with it. But he knew it was inevitable.
It was a Smoky Flashbang! Kiel's own creation.
Yes, it was a grenade that could act as both a flashbang and a smoke grenade. It took him two years just to come up with a proper design for this baby. And another year just to get all the materials and build it.
Kiel even had to plead his aunt Ena to prepare all the necessary components as he himself took on the task to assemble it on his own! And yes on his own, unlike earth where he just had to present his ideas. After all, he could not let others see any more of his ideas after what happened to his father once.
'Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!' Ya, that's the quote which reminded him to not think this world as some light-hearted slice of life story. This was a world based on the laws of survival.
After witnessing that accident, Kiel became even more vigilant. Though he could not make much stuff, he did try to build himself a few useful secret gadgets in the meantime. However, he was only successful with the Smoky flashbang till now. And it was only one of its kind.
The flashbang was a cylindrical casing made of the Bronze Larch wood, a tree whose wood was considered to be even tougher than bronze. It was lighter and more durable too. But most importantly it was abundant, not labour intensive and cheaper than making bronze itself.
Inside the cylindrical case lay a small white stone called the Light-gem which could produce light on sublimating. As the light gems were relatively cheap, due to their work of the only illumination, Kiel fiddled with them a lot to finally come up with his new baby. Although he was thinking about its function in his mind, he could not stop a grin from appearing on his face. It was his first attempt to merge the knowledge of both worlds.
It was a great discovery on Kiel's part that if he could create an opaque casing that didn't allow the light to go out when it would be released all the light would come out at once creating a brighter flash.
And it was, even more,a brilliant discovery when he found out that the sublimating on the mana rich light gem when mixed with a common plant here named Tulsi, produced a faint grey smog which could slightly have a numbing effect on others.
It was his masterpiece that he had precisely saved for a rainy day after the previous case. However, it was a mistake on his part that he never expected that when he wanted to meditate peacefully, he would get into such trouble. It was precise because he didn't have the bag that he had to suffer so much. So he previously tried to get his bag back at any cost previously. That's why even when seeing all the city stuff, Kiel still continued on.
What and you all thought that all he did in the last two years was train, train and train and lead an uneventful life? Think again! How do you expect that from an ex-scientist?
"Although I don't want to part with you… sorry baby! I will definitely remember your sacrifice."
Mourning at his parting with his baby, Kiel kissed the grenade once for the last time, before coming to his senses.
It was always a bad habit of Kiel. Wherever he needed to speak about his own inventions, he would be so lost that he would even forget about the surroundings. Luckily this time it didn't have any adverse effects.
Lowering his body, he then quietly climbed out onto a nearby sturdy tree branch. On the long branches of the mature tree, Kiel wiggled his body and cautiously moved towards the battling crowd.
The flashbang was specifically made by him considering such situations, so it was enough time to change the result of a battle by bringing him enough time. Also, the light in it would counteract the shadow magic of the leader giving Kiel the opportunity he needed. It was heaven giving him a chance. Kiel even felt that the goddess of Destiny had given him a hand. Otherwise, how could he get such an opportunistic attack time!
And we'll everything is associated with risks.
"Ruyu! Leave!" Shina roared, as her magic ball radiated with green lights. She, by herself, was fighting against almost all eight of the Blood Orchids.
"My lady!" Lea was also anxious; she stomped on the ground and said, "We have to hurry please!"
Tia looked tranquil, but her eyes showed stubbornness. She spoke softly, "I won't leave. If we fight together, we might win. But once all three of you leave, Shina will definitely die after being trapped for too long. Without Shina's rune weapon, we can't win against the Blood Orchid anyway. We would still be caught in the end."
"Good! Let's fight till death then!" Ruyu was a muscle brain girl after all. Upon hearing Tia's words, her already no neurons brain finally made up her mind and shouted, "Mylady! Lea! Let's go!"
They encircled Tia, took out their sharp weapons, and charged with all their strength toward those Blood Orchid emissaries.
"Four of you, go and take care of those three kids." The Silver Emissary frowned and ordered coldly, "Don't hurt the little Waveduke girl. She is my prey. And she still has some uses. The lord was in need of a new battle puppet. She would come in handy."
"Yes Sir!" the four bronze Emissaries replied in unison, and in no time rushed toward their targets.
Just then!
Suddenly, a slight sound came from above. The silver Emissary was alarmed and as he looked up he noticed something fall down, suddenly his instinct came in telling him something was wrong though he could not understand and he abruptly looked up into the sky, and shouted, "Dammit! Run!"
But It was too late!
The leading Emissary noticed a little cylinder-like something falling from the sky. Although it startled him a little, it didn't warn a warning bell. Though he still remained alert.
However, just as fast as something strange happened. Just when the little thing touched the ground, a bright light sphere flashed by everyone's eyes.
*Bang*
A light so bright came out with such brightness that it was almost blinded everybody, including those from the Blood Orchids, and even Tia and the girls, all felt a stinging pain in their eyes. No one was spared.
"Ahh damn, it hurts!" It was even out of Kiel's expectation that there would be this much reaction. Even he himself felt blinded. Luckily he covered his eyes with his hands quickly.
The Silver Emissary quickly realized the situation and drew in a deep breath to concentrate on what just happened. However, just when he inhaled the surrounding air, he felt a sudden numbness around his nose spreading within. But that was not all. He could even feel his grip on his shadows lose control all of a sudden.
Though he drew back quickly, the flashbang had fallen closest to him. The herbal smell had already reached inside him just one intake. You could understand the potency of the drug itself.
As his hands and feet slowly started to feel numb, the silver Emissary's heart sank, and he hurriedly stirred his internal mana to defend against it.
But, those bronze emissaries were not as cautious as he was. Many of them inhaled the herbal smoke in ignorance, which went into their hearts and lungs, which then quickly affected their bodies. In just a few seconds, these people were numb all over, their bones softened and they lost their strength.
