Chapter 13 - The Family Meeting

After last night's call from Ash, Hyder and Jasmine couldn't sleep from both, excitement and worry.

Wasn't it too early for their child to have a girlfriend or fiancee? They thought.

He was only 14 y.o. in the end of the day.

After talking for hours upon hours about the kids and family meeting, Jasmine said "Let's go, hubby. Maybe Ash could give us another surprise."

Needless to say, Hyder agreed without hesitation.

Cloud city wasn't too far away from where they lived, near the beach. 1 hour by car would be more than enough to travel the distance between the two cities.

It was Sunday so there was less traffic anyway.

...

In the meantime Ash remembered something as he ate lunch with the Bai family.

"I forgot to tell them the address..." Ash said to Bai Ling's parents.

"You don't need to worry about that." smiled Bai Cheng.

He knew of Ash's parents after he made some research yesterday.

While Ash and Ling were preparing the lunch, he was reading silently everything he could find about them.

Now, what he needed to do was to just alter slightly their minds and add a bit of information trough a special soul technique.

If he did that on a cultivator, no matter if the target had high or low realm, he or she would immediately notice, due to ther sensitivity towards Nature essense.

Then, the cultivator would either get offended in the best case scenario, or would fight it off to the death with the one trying to mess with his or her memories.

One exeption was: if the target had trust in the one using this technique on him. Just like disciples had trust in their masters.

It made learning secret techniques a lot easier.

On the other hand, mortals didn't have this sensitivity toward Nature essense and thus they wouldn't notice that someone was secretly messing with their memories.

This technique wasn't used ofthen though as almost no cultivator made contact with mortal beings for long periods of time.

Mortals lived a short life. Cultivators saw them as intelligent beings, but trough their eyes, mortals were inferior to them in any aspect.

Why would they waste energy and time when they could spend it on something else?

Seeing Bai Cheng's reassuring smile, Ash let it be and focused on eating the food infront of him.

He didn't know what Bai Cheng was going to do, but whatever it was, Ash thought of it as something he couldn't understand for now... just one of the many magic tricks cultivators knew of.

Bai Ling on the other hand suddenly started having her own thoughts.

Ash seemed calm, smart to no end, almost rivaling cultivators at the 'Lake Formation' realm as a mortal, he was patient, resolute and even looked good.

But no matter how she looked at Ash, she saw him as a cultivation monster.

If Ash was like this, then... what kind of freaks were his parents?

Noticing Bay Ling's blank expression, Ash started staring at her. Was she thinking of something?

As Ash stared at her, Bai Ling lifter her head. "Is there something on my face?" she asked confusedly.

"No... I was just wondering what you were thinking." Ash replied with slightly lifted eyebrows.

"N~nothing." after a moment of hesitation, Bai Ling answered as calmly as she could and changed the topic immediately.

The atmosphere was that of a typical family lunch as Bai Cheng and Bai Juan, and Ash and Ling conversed with eachother about insignificant things.

...

Lunch eventually came to an end.

Ash and Ling went to cultivate in their respective rooms while Bai Cheng went out to do some work with Bai Juan.

Hours later, a man with short black hair and masculine face, wearing an elengant grey cotton shirt and black pantaloons, pressed the home bell.

It started ringing with a relaxing melody.

"This must be it. The address Ash gave us yesterday is here." Hyder said with confidense to Jasmine, who was next to him.

She, on the other hand looked with expectation in her black eyes. Her dark-blue hair was long and curly as it moved with the breeze. She was dressed up in a white dress and heels, which made her alluring to the eye, but gave her also an innocent look.

They were standing infront of a... modern 3 story house. The magnificent manshion was nowhere to be seen.

Opening the door, a tall and handsome man with red hair and silvery eyes showed up. He was casually dressed in a white T-shirt and black pants, wearing slippers.

"Handsome to no end!" both Hyder and Jasmine thought. That man's muscles and good figure showed trough parts of his shirt.

"Is he an athlete?" They thought.

"Oh, you must be Ash's parents, please enter." he said to the dumbfounded couple with a sincere smile.

Sure enough after greeting him, they entered.

"Pretty nice home you've got" Hyder said while looking around.

"Hm... We worked a lot on it the past few years. " Bai Cheng responded while taking them to the living room.

"This is my wife, Juan." he introduced.

"Hello, you're just in time for dinner!" Bai Juan greeted with a beaming smile. It was almost 7pm and she was still preparing the table.

"Hello..." If Hyder and Jasmine were dumbounded by how Bai Cheng looked a minute ago, now they were even more so when they saw his wife... It she could be called so.

Dressed in a red flowery kimono and comfy slippers, the 1.5meters tall Bai Juan looked more like a 15 y.o. kid rather than a mother.

"Honey, go call the kids." the little doll, Bai Juan, said with excitement.

Going up the stairs while Ash's parents found a place to sit on the table, Bai Cheng's voice was heard. "Kids, wash your hands and come down to eat, our guests have arrived!"

5 minutes later both Ash and Bai Ling went down the stairs side by side.

They were talking about cultivation and at the last step Ling gave Ash a surprised look.

Going trough the corridor before entering trough the door to the living room, they were greeted by Ash's parents.

"Dad, Mom..." Ash gave them a hug and introduced Bai Ling to them afterwards.

"How pretty!" Jasmine said with sparkly eyes before pinching Ling's cheeks.

"You're a lucky boy, Ash!" Hyder exclaimed with a smile after turning hi head towards him.

This made Bai Ling blush a bit as she sat next to Ash.

As the two families started eating, the atmosphere got livlier.

Hyder owned a tech shop and was surprised and also excited to hear that Bai Cheng had a factory for computers.

Wanting to make a deal with Ash's father, Bai Cheng proposed another day to meet with Hyder so they could discuss about it in more detail.

On the other hand the two mothers started conversing about all kinds of things. Their names both meant flowers and they both clicked with eachother somehow.

Ash and Ling were either talking among eachother or listening to their parents talking.

Ofcourse, Bai Cheng knew about Ash's parents favorite food or what they worked from yesterday's research, thus making a ton of preparations in one day.

Preparing the favorite meal for Ash's parents and making a research on what they liked while also building a factory in one day seemed almost impossible, but for Bai Cheng and Bai Juan, it was like a game.

They wanted to help Hyder and Jasmine prosper... While they still were alive.
