Chapter 9 - It's Everywhere

After our time in the falls with Farren and Meira fangirling over the guys' new hair cut, we went back into my cabin. Catina immediately locked herself in her room to see the progress of her research. Ryker asked me if they could train back at the basement so I gave them the code and for the most part, they've been training downstairs.

And for the past days, I used this time to check and shift the probable models of the invention father wanted to make. Leaving it to the side, I grabbed the whit makeshift bag from my secret stash and poured out every journal my father owns. Once it's all out, I grabbed the journal where all the missing pages are located.

My fingers lightly caress the excess rips on the page, this journal was filled with inventions father wanted to create, he envisioned everything he had the chance to make it a reality, but in the end, he never did.

I let out a breath.

My father's death was unjustly ruled out as an accident, but I know better. Father has been very careful when in work, he rarely gets hurt, so why did he die in the laboratory? his whole left arm shredded from a machine. When I knew about that fact, I know that it's a murder case, but who would listen to a freak child. I don't even look like my father.

Some say I'm adopted but then, I grew up with only my father by me. I never got to know my mother and father explained that she died giving birth to me.

"Lydia?"

I jumped from the couch and looked over to the archway, I let out a breath when I see Leo standing there with no shirt on "Jesus! Leo, you could have knocked on the wall announcing your presence" I sighed, my heart beating rapidly in my rib cage, though I doubt it would be because he startled me, I admit he looks hot with no shirt on "and why are you not wearing your shirt?" I questioned as he came towards me and sat beside me, sighing.

"I left it out to dry, it's soaked in sweat"

"Is that what you do all day?" I asked him as I started scanning through the journal I am holding "Aside from playing video games with Caleb, yes" I looked at him "I have a whole planet to look after, I'm the guardian of Tethoris for a reason" he sighed

"Don't you get tired of that?" he chuckles humorlessly "I do, in fact, I rarely get some sleep for taking care of such matters" I stared at him for a minute longer before bringing up what we should talk about.

"Tell me more about you imprinting on me" when I mentioned this, his head snapped to my direction, his eyes widened a fraction "What? If this is going to happen, I might as well know more about it right?" he pursed his lips, clearing his throat and looking away before starting

"Well, there's not much to explain exactly, but..." he trailed off and I patiently waited for him to continue "take the concept of love at first sight" he looked at me, his red eyes glimmering with emotion I couldn't decipher, but I didn't faile to notice the sparks it held, the strong intensity

I hummed, placing the journal down on the table "why me?" I asked and looked at him "I'm pretty sure back to your world, there are lots and lots of gorgeous women, take Meira and Farren for example" I explained

He nods "There are lots of pretty women back at Tethoris, and I did have one-night stands here and there, but only because I was desperate" I pursed my lips but waited for him to continue before I judged, he sighs shaking his head "In the end, nothing really clicked, then our mission of looking for you and Catina came up, and we transported here" I tilt my head to the side as I faced him fully, he crossed his arms across his chest, leaning his back on the backrest.

"if we're taking into consideration on the concept of love at first sight, when and where did you see me?"

he was silent for a moment, a smile gracing his features "back at that old building you came out at, you and Catina were being chased by these robots, Mason stupidly yelled out pointing at your direction, and when you looked up..." he looked at me, his eyes scanned my face "those women back where I'm from didn't stand a chance, I knew right then when I saw you that you're the one and that no one can top you" he whispers, staring longingly at me.

"Our plan was to secretly follow the two of you until we come up with a good enough approach so as to not attract unwanted attention, but when I found out you were hunted down, I had to get to you before those things could, so I shifted"

Both my brows shot up "shifted?" he nods

"You saw me, that black mist with red eyes" my heart fell, that was him? "you can do that?" he hums "yes when I go full protective mode" well, ain't this swell? My supposed soulmate turns into this black dog mist with intense red eyes, I don't know why but I find that kind of hot. Sue me.

I heaved out a breath "you do understand that this whole... concept is new to me, and dropping that bomb turned everything different, I've never had any relationships before, not that I really needed one anyway" he nods his warm hand holding mine, interlocking our fingers together.

I stared at it, I never knew how it felt to have a different type of relationship, I mean I'm already twenty-four, and I know I want to have a family when I get old, and in order to ensure that, I'd have to go through the process of dating.

He scooted closer towards me, his other hand gently caressed my hair "I understand, so let's take this slow, how long it may take, I don't care, I'll wait" I gave him a small smile, caressing the back of his hand "thank you" I guess he's not so bad, but then I don't really know him. Before I could bring that up, we heard Catina come out of her room, "Lyd, you need to turn on the holographic map" my brows furrowed before standing up and turning it on.

"I'll go call the others" Leo stood up and left the room. Catin placed her equipment on the table, connecting it on the PC Unit that connects to the holographic map. I sat down on her left as the other came flooding in, Leo sat beside me while Caleb sat beside Catina, she tensed but didn't complain, at least there's that.

"Did the results come out?" Farren asked as she sat beside Ryker "Yes, but it's quite confusing, look at this" our attention went to the holographic map, showing one red dot "Is that the location of where this person is staying?" Ryker asked.

"It's near here" I said, now confused why she gathered us for this, she could have just told me.

"that's what I thought... until this happened" she pressed a button, my eyes widened as more red dots appeared "what the hell?!"

It's freaking everywhere! like in every country there's a dot or two. So much for being simple.
