Hades looked back to see that the little wolf had followed him out.
By now, the soul communion effect had worn off, but he had long since learned her wolf language by cross referencing the words from the soul communion with the wolf sounds she make when they spoke.
"Go back to sleep." He said bluntly, he didn't need anyone to meddle in his business.
"Hmph. Did you forget why I came?" She watched him with curious silver eyes. She wasn't clever enough to realize that he could understand his words without the Soul Communion.
He then remembered that her official position was an escort.
"I'm going to follow you, wherever you go, and you can't do anything about it!" She said sternly, yet her eyes glimmered with desire for adventure.
"Don't get conceited. I can go wherever I want." He then spread his wings, and took to the air.
Laughable. There's no way she could follow him. Not as long as he could fly and she couldn't. He had been keeping a careful eye on her for quite some time now, so he was certain she had no wings.
The only way she was following him is if she could fly... without... wings...
"Didn't I say I'd follow you wherever you go!!!"
Following right behind him, was the Silver Moondance Wolf Princess, Yin Xi.
His mouth opened in shock, and he quickly analyzed her body.
Rather than flight, it was closer to walking on air.
She still had no wings, but every time she it looked like she would fall, her feet would seem to land on something, and she would leap off of it, propelling her forward.
He observed closely, and found that it was compressed wind that was her platform.
The air seemed to gather beneath her feet, and then burst with her steps, pushing her onwards.
He was shocked. He was actually capable of this at his peak, but only at his peak. With his wings, he could only stir up whirlwinds, wind caves, and vortexes.
But only when he was stronger, could he use more wings to compress air and propel it at a target. He could also use it to propel himself at supersonic speeds. Compressing air was powerful, and if done right, it could create blades that could sever ruin the earth and tear apart the sky.
But now he watched this weakling do a rudimentary version. It definitely wasn't as strong as when he at its peak, but it surprised him nonetheless.
Once again, he realized the wonders of cultivation.
It was a whole new world he could explore, and reach limits he couldn't even dream of before.
Able to control air without moving a muscle. Even he only had the strength he did in the school child battle because he imbued his wings with qi, instead of controlling the winds directly.
He could only be amazed. It apparently shown on his face as well.
"Oh ho~? Why are staring at me like that~? Are you mesmerized by my beauty~?" A smirk was clear on her face.
His contemplation was ruined with her words as he snapped out of his daze.
"Don't think so highly of yourself. I was merely admiring your ability. If anything, be proud of your achievements in your technique. Rather than something worthless like your appearance, value your skills more. They are far more beautiful." He scowled at her, but then he realized he said something out of place.
"Oh~? So you think I'm beautiful~? Too bad~! You're 10 years too young to flirt with me!" She smirked and mocked him.
"Hmph. I'm older than all your ancestors combined!"
"That's ridiculous! You're just a brat! Look how small you are!"
"That's just rebirth! My original form was thrice your size!" He wished he could beat her up, but he couldn't, not unless he wanted to be killed. Instead he fought with words, but his arguments sounded like nonsense, he had inevitably lost.
He turned his head and ignored her. She didn't speak either.
But he couldn't help but glance again from time to time.
The moonlight Illuminated her silver fur, making it glimmer like another star in the sky.
Her strides were smooth, and she flew through the air with every step. It was as if she was dancing.
Her silver figure under the half moon as she crossed the sky looked like she was walking among the stars, and could reach the moon.
He had no choice but to admit that it was indeed pleasing to the eye, and would make an excellent picture or painting from a fair distance. Though ignorant, he could still discern a good view from a bad one. This was definitely one of the best views he'd ever seen, since the Abyss wasn't exactly full of the nicest places.
They were truly worthy of their name, Moondance Wolves.
Not that he would admit it though, since he felt like he would dig his own grave. He had to uphold his dignified figure after all, even though he was employed now.
"Hey, I might've pushed myself a little bit. I'm running out of qi." She ruined his admiration with a single phrase.
His eyes went blank. He understood what this meant.
"I... I might fall..." her feet began to stumble, and her swan like grace started to resemble a goose's instead.
Fall...?! From this height?!
And fall she did.
Hades was prepared though and dived immediately.
He did not have the courage nor the strength to hold her nape with his maw, so he flew under her so she would distribute the weight better.
To be blunt, he felt like a boulder landed on his back.
He didn't mean to be rude, but he had never carried this much weight before after being reborn.
Even at his peak, he usually only carried what he could fit in his mouth, or corpses smaller than him.
He immediately circulated tyrant qi into his wings, giving him the strange necessary to not plummet to the ground and die a miserable splattered death.
He eventually steadied himself and flew unsteadily across the night sky with a body thrice his size squirming on his back.
"Wow~! I've never flown like this before! This is way different from sky walking! It's like floating! This is like a whole new world!"
Hades only grunted unhappily.
He suddenly recalling a book in Chen Ling's room about a man with a flying carpet who escorted some princess.
So this is why fairy tales are called as such, he thought. They're complete nonsense.
