As the eyes grew bright, signaling a surge of qi, the earth began to rumble, and water began to spout of the ground, gradually mixing with the loose soil. It's shell was also incased in a golden armor, a soul form armament. The tortoise was obviously not holding back
Then a deep roar resonated throughout the playground, and the ground began to quake chaotically and the spouts out of control, now akin to large sprinklers.
Everyone turned to see that the tortoise's face was bleeding, it's eyes had a massive gash through them, Xiaohei was licking its claws, standing on the tortoise's belly with his tail still coiled around the tortoise's neck, glaring coldly at the glasses boy.
"Surrender brat! Before Xiaohei rips out the throat of your precious tortoise." This was only a threat, and Chen Ling naturally did not wish for such a result, as it would only bring trouble. She had even specifically asked Xiaohei not to leave permanent wounds. That meant no severing limbs, eating eyeballs, or disemboweling them.
"Kh! What are you doing Xuanwu! Beat them up!" The glasses boy was stubborn, and pushed the tortoise further. Unfortunately, the River Splitting Earth Tortoise's qi was in chaos, the tail, which seemed to lack strength, was actually covered in hard scale and tough, flexible muscle. Though it's neck was thick, the Tortoise was soon finding it hard to breathe. the erratic breathing put its qi in chaos, thus making its techniques difficult to control.
"Xiaohei, just knock out that dumb turtle please." Of course she would not hold on to the thought of any throat tearing threats, and the plan since the beginning was to suffocate it to unconsciousness, since she couldn't allow Xiaohei to leave horrific bleeding wounds all over them in the faces of dozens of grade schoolers.
Xiaohei immediately tightened his hold on the turtle's neck, who was helpless to resist.
Soon, the turtle's green face turned red, then purple, then blue, and lastly white, as the earth finally settled and the spouts stopped. The River Splitting Earth Tortoise's eyes glazed over and its whole body fell limp while foaming at the mouth. It had evidently been strangled unconscious.
"...Xuanwu?! W-what are you doing? You gotta get up! Are you dead?!" The glasses boy sobbed in an unsightly manner.
The glasses girl then went up to him and patted his shoulder.
"What an idiot." A unexpectedly cruel form of comfort. "The River Splitting Earth Tortoise's is obviously suffering from asphyxiation, can't you tell from all the symptoms? Are your eyes rotten? It can recover on its own so don't be such a brat. You bring shame to your glasses." Lots of smart words unfit for her age fell out of her mouth, and abuse flew out as naturally as fish from the sea. The words made the viewers shiver from the spine.
In contrast the glasses boy just blushed and embraced the poor tortoise. It was his lack of ability that made the battle easy. He did not think to harness the Tortoise's qi in the beginning and chose to charge forward rather than choose a defensive strategy, more befitting of a hefty beast like the tortoise. In the end, it was incapacitated in one move and was left helpless.
"Hmph. You might have beaten Black Turtle, but he was only the weakest of us!" The hat kid that called himself Blue Dragon tried to recover from their embarrassment while they hurried to comfort their fallen comrade. "White Tiger! You're next! Avenge Black Turtle!" And the kid in the suit swaggered up and aggressively tilted his chin up.
"I'm the White Tiger, I won't be as easy to defeat as Black Turtle, prepare yourself!" He sneered, reaching into his suit and pulled out a white ball.
"Baihu! Reveal yourself!" It seemed they all called the spirit beasts they ordered around the same as their own self proclaimed names. He threw the ball into the air, which promptly exploded, releasing a cloud of white smoke that covered the grounds.
When the smoke cleared, a white tiger with contrasting black stripes had appeared. It was three times the size of Xiaohei and had a cold arrogance, as if all beings were but the snow it walked upon.
It let out a ferocious roar befitting of a mountain king, and coldly glared down at Xiaohei.
"That's definitely a Snow Veil Mountain Tiger! It cultivation is based on ice and snow, sub elements of water! The mountain part refers to its habitat, so it has no earth affinity! It's main method of battle is creating snow flurries that obstruct their prey's vision, and then slaying them in a single blow. There is a big similarity with the Binding Shadow Tiger in being ambush predators. In equal conditions, they might be evenly matched, but the Snow Veil Mountain Tiger is older and should be at the qi refining stage! Not to mention that Xiaohei's darkness affinity is of no use in the day, even his vision has to be obstructed because of his sunglasses! He's at an overwhelming disadvantage!" Once again an acute analysis by glasses girl, though the last part was already plain to see to all in the audience. The small Xiaohei and the big Snow Veil Mountain Tiger. It surely looks to be against Chen Ling's favor.
The Snow Veil Mountain Tiger looked down at Xiaohei, eyes flashing in indifference. It was far prouder than the River Splitting Earth Tortoise, and didn't really respond to the name the child gave him on his own. The tigers order was to show off and protect the kid. The Snow Veil Mountain Tiger had no intentions of bullying this runt. He hoped to scare it off with its aura alone.
Xiaohei was naturally unfazed by its aura, and by proxy, Chen Ling wasn't scared either. Since Xiaohei was confident, she was too.
Xiaohei waltzed up to the Snow Veil Mountain Tiger, and looked up at it, and the white tiger stared back in disdain, annoyed that the runt stayed, it glared at Xiaohei wanting to scare him off, but Xiaohei just smirked. An extremely arrogant smirk. The very annoying kind. The kind that just exudes 'are you a joke?'.
The Snow Veil Mountain Tiger was immediately furious and got in a battle stance. This runt dared to look down on him, he roared loudly, sending a faint tremor in the air.
Xiaohei sneered, and similarly roared back. Though not as loud, the tyranny and ruthlessness contained within made chills go through all their hearts, including the Snow Veil Mountain Tiger. It now understood that this runt was no pushover.
Their eyes in tacit agreement. There could never be two tigers on one mountain.
