Chapter 21 - Stopped

At first, when the mystical beast spoke to him, he was glad. It might've been luck that the weird beast could understand him, or that anyone of the species could do the same, but he figured the latter case rather unlikely. He thought so because the smaller beast was unable to communicate with him, though it might be a problem with maturity, and the small one would gain the same ability in due time.

He figured this species must be one of the stronger species of this world. He came to this conclusion through several clues.

First of all, their bodies are naturally weak, yet they've yet to be extinct. This means that, although the beast said that all beings can 'cultivate', their species should be the best at it, thus taking the place of teeth and claws.

He also noticed that they used strange tools. He once saw an ape creature hitting opponents with rocks, and he figured this to be similar. When the larger beast attacked him, it used an inexplicable tool without any sharp ends or large impact points resembling clubs or blades. Despite this, the beast was able to rattle his head without touching him. He found this impossibly mystical. These weapons were obviously used to supplement their lacking bodies.

Lastly, he noticed the room. He knew it impossible for a normal beast, no matter how intelligent, to be able to alter the natural structure of the land to this extent. He could never find a cave abode so neat back in the abyss. He comforted himself in thinking that despite the craftsmanship, it must take a considerable amount of time to create this abode. This means that they have to keep their territory long enough to create a permanent settlement. Of course, he could be miscalculating and the abode could be mobile or possibly made in an instant, but that would make the species even more unfathomable.

So with all these hints, he concluded this species a dominant race in this world.

He knew that at the moment, he was not strong. He was defeated by the wolf pack before with strange mysticism he couldn't figure out. Yet there was an even more mystical race before him. He decided he needed the support of this intelligent race to become accustomed to this world and grow his strength. Who knows, he might be able to ty out this 'cultivation' as well.

But although he hoped to humbly request their aid, to the point of laying down his arrogance, the mystical beast was even more arrogant.

Though they could communicate, it didn't listen to a word he said at first, only selfishly asking it's own questions. Not just that, just when he thought they were finally willing to answer his questions, he got a ridiculous condition.

"Become our slave in exchange for our information."

Okay maybe that wasn't exactly what they said, that's how he heard it. And it made him furious.

'Who cares about their information?! They dare to trample my pride, think they can do whatever they want with their bullshit mystic arts! I'll just learn another way, right now these insolent creatures must die!'

With that, he immediately tore at the larger beast, since it was clearly more dangerous and the small one didn't appear to be a threat at the moment. He was still small and weak, not even reaching their knees, but his ferocity had not diminished in the slightest with his transition.

The creature's mystic power rattled his head once more, but he didn't let it stop him, only faltering slightly before using the swiftness and flexibility of his tail to lash at his enemy.

But he was frustrated as the mysterious power made his head spin and his movements sluggish. Not just that, as his low height made his range of attack limited, and the ridiculously level and smooth floors had him slipping occasionally even couldn't target the vitals as accurately as usual. Thanks to this, he wasn't able to kill his opponent quickly as he could've. He couldn't help but curse this weird den, but it couldn't be helped as this whole world was unfamiliar territory.

Eventually he had the impudent creature on the ropes, and it was only a matter of time before it's head would fall to his feet, when the small one started running toward him.

He couldn't sense any strength in the charge, but he didn't dare make any chances and turned toward it. He kept suppressing the bigger one with his tail so it wouldn't interrupt him.

As it approached he steadied his ground, prepared to slash it's throat with his claws as soon as it approached, but when it got close enough, the small creatures arms spread out, and his body suddenly reacted strangely slowly for an inexplicable reason.

'Another bizarre ability?!' Tyrant prepared for an attack just as bizarre as the binding technique when he felt the stupid creature wrap it's arms around him. His body instantly froze, and his assault on the larger creature stopped. He didn't know if it was because of shock or just the binding ability again.

'It's still trying to express affection in his situation, or is this another weird ability?' But he didn't care what it was, he moved his stuff, trembling body to open his jaws and bite toward the foolish creature's neck.

'Whatever ability it has is useless when it's dead.' He thought, but his fangs didn't sink a centimeter in before the blood that flowed out shot between his eyes, drilling a hole into his body.

'?!?!' He das no idea what was going on, but out of the hole in his own head was his own blood that shot into the wound he made in the creature's neck.

He was unable to move anything aside from his eyes as they darted around in panic. He had never encountered such a situation.

He saw the creature still embracing him with his teeth still puncturing it's skin, closing it's eyes tightly, seemingly unaware of the situation, and maybe thought it was dead.

He saw the bigger creature who also made no movements, simply staring at him and its companion in shock.

Suddenly he felt something in his body pulse, leaning to the small creature that did this to him. He could vaguely feel something similar happening to it as well. Whatever it was it was pulsing in song, and he started to strangely feel closer to the creature embracing him, and he started to hear a voice resonating in his head, similar to when he spoke with the big one.

"Stop stop stop hurting her, I know you're not a bad kitty!"
