Chapter 1 - The Discovery

Colonel James Mason, leader of a team of elite special forces troops called SG-12 silently stood hunched in the cloaked puddle jumper. Our of the forward display he watched the 3 massive ships pummel the 5 wraith hive ships into atoms. " Damn I wish we knew who these guys are. They took out those hives like they were made of cardboard." He said to his team. Even the ancients couldn't take on and destroy hive ships that fast, he thought to himself. Colonel Mason and his team were based out of an abandoned ancient city much like the earlier found Atlantis. This city, though, was much larger and they had found in it's data base it was named El Dorado.

Interestingly enough the initial explorers who discovered the city noticed that every external inch was covered in a gold colored material. Apparently the ancients had discovered that this material made whatever it coated invisible to wraith sensors. The golden color incidentally also was the basis for the old earth legend of the golden city of El Dorado.

Mason tapped his pilot on the shoulder and gave him the order to head back to "Dorado" as they called it. He then sat down and let his mind wander back to the discovery of El Dorado.

During an exploration of a planet by Colonel Sheppard's team from Atlantis they had stumbled upon a previously undiscovered ancient outposts. Sheppard's team had then discovered that this outposts had been used by the ancients as manufacturing facility to build zero point modules, or ZPM's. They were the power source used by the ancients to power their ships and cities.

The biggest discovery there had come after the our posts database had been combed through. They had found a storage room with crates of never used ZPM's. The database had said they were to be shipped to a place called eldorado, which included a Stargate address. The leadership of Atlantis, and the oversight committee which controlled the Stargate program immediately grew excited over this discovery. They ordered a team to that Stargate address right away.

What they found was a city that was an exact replica of Atlantis, only much, much bigger, and covered in a golden color. Once the city had been explored and it's ancient database translated they discovered that this city was much newer than Atlantis had been. The one and only of it's kind build before the wraith war grew out of control. Eldorado, though had never been fully inhabited by the ancients. It has been cloaked and abandoned by it's skeleton staff when the ancient council had ordered everyone back to Atlantis. Some sort of device created what looked like a mountain over the city hiding it from view, while the golden material kept it safe from wraith scans.

The teams investigating the database then made an enormous discovery. Eldorado, being a newly built and never inhabited city, had a full defensive compliment. Almost a million drones were packed into it's 12 armories. The city itself used 6 ZPM's to power itself.

Since then a steady stream of personnel and equipment had flowed from the SGC, or Stargate Command, on Earth. The city was now full of personnel and some families as well. The science team on eldorado had also discovered that, much like Atlantis, an adept person who carried the ancient gene in their DNA would need to operate the chair to both fly and defend the city.

Much to the surprise of the personnel on eldorado the science team had also discovered that the city was equipped with different weapons. While Atlantis relied on drones for offense and an energy shield for defense, eldorado carried a vast battery of energy weapons similar to the ones that atlantis teams had discovered much earlier on a defense platform in space.

Changing his thoughts to the present as their puddle jumper neared it's Stargate back to eldorado. "this should be an interesting command meeting." He thought. Something about a large group of people trapped on some kind of ancient ship...named Destiny.
