Chapter 3 - Chapter Two

Dead? Souls? No! I can't be dead! No way! Why?' Her hand covered her mouth as she sobbed. 'So that means, I can't see my family anymore. Oh dear! Mom! Dad! My dear sister, Rose! Nathan!  I can't see Adrian anymore. I can't marry him. She hysterically thought.

She felt her chest tightened and so as her lungs, making her difficult to breath. It feels like it's her worst nightmare. Clare thought her worst nightmare was a break up from Adrian or losing her family but she was wrong.

The people around her way back when she was alive gave her the complete definition of what love is. Everyday, no one never made her feel unloved. No one ever failed to let her feel the warm sensation of love and she's beyond grateful of choosing real people to be with her.

And now, she can't believe after all the happiness she experienced, fate finally decided to cut everything off. The pain was unbearable. Not being able to see the people she love is beyond unbearable.

Clare is in agony wherein, she couldn't feel the warm embrace of her parents, the warm lips of Adrian pressed against her, the warm comfort  her siblings give her, and the warms smiles her friends showed her.

Tears continued to stream down on Clare's flawless cheeks as she remembered her beloved, especially her fiancee. A picture of a man staring at her with an ear-to-ear smile on his lips, his teeny eyes pressed by his cheeks, and joy visible in his eyes. I miss him so damn much she thought as she sniffed.

Then a thumb wiped her tears so she looked at the woman, "H-How did you die?" she asked. The woman looked at her and smiled. "I died because I had HIV" the woman answered that shocked her. "And I don't have to ask myself where I belong. Any minute now, I'll be with Satan" the woman continued. She frowned.

She felt sad for the woman, even for herself. Where do I belong? I can't assure that I'm 100% good child. I commit sins. She thought. I heard rumors about the two worlds. Is hell that cruel? Is heaven that wonderful?

"What's your name?" she asked the woman. The woman smiled and offered a handshake, "Sarah. Sarah del Castillo. You?" the said Sarah replied. She accepted Sarah's hand and smiled, "Clare Willows" they both smiled at each other.

Then tears started to fall from Sarah's eyes. "Oh gosh, I'm so sorry" Sarah exclaimed as she let go of Clare's hand and wiped her tears. "I was just so happy to meet a friend here before giving up my soul" she said. Clare cried as well and hugged her new found friend and replied, "So do I".

"Hello there, young child! Do you know why you're here?" their attention was caught when the woman in the table asked the young boy. The young boy shook his head and shot her with an innocent look. The woman was wearing a simple knee-length white dress that matches her medium-length, caramel-colored hair.

"Did you know something about heaven? Do you know God?" The woman by the table asked again and the boy shook his head. "Did you know that you are dead?" The woman asked again and he nod. What an innocent child.

The woman smiled sweetly and said, "You are such an innocent angel. Your mom must be so sad right now because she lose you. Would you mind and approach that sir over there...." The woman pointed the man, "and let him touch your head? It's a little bit painful but bearable. Is it okay?" The young boy nod and approached the said man.

The man stood sturdy in his black outfit, waiting for the little boy to approach him. As soon as the boy is in front of him, he placed his hand on the young boy's head as it glows a bright light then faded after a few minutes.

The man said something to the young boy but the boy again only shook his head. Then, another man in a black suit picked up the boy and brought him to the white train.

"Did you see that?! His hand glowed!" Clare exclaimed as she pointed the man in black. "Yeah, they're taking our memories away" Sarah said that made my forehead creased. "W-What?" Clare stuttered. "W-What do you mean?" she outraged. "Do you know why do we have to fall in line here? It's because of that...." Sarah pointed the man with a glowing hand.

Three men were standing in front of every trains waiting for passengers. "He removes memories" she said that made me froze. Clare looked at her, "Why do they have to remove memories? Why? Aren't memories our treasures? It's the only thing we have left from earth" she said, feeling emotional.

Sarah sighed and loured, "This is our fate, Clare. We cannot stop it".

Clare looked at the people falling in line with perplexed faces behind her. She couldn't help but worry for them and herself. "How did you know all of this?" Clare asked Sarah. Sarah sweetly smiled, "I learned lip-reading and I've been observing everything for hours before you came here." Sarah answered that made Clare astonished. "Amazing!" Clare exclaimed happily that made Sarah smiled more.

"Next!" they got startled when the woman by the table shouted. They didn't noticed that it's Sarah's turn after that long conversation. The woman smiled, "Good day, Sarah. My name is Petra. I am the guardian angel of the gates of the Eternal World and you are to follow my instructions before you ride the train" the woman who called herself Petra said.

Sarah bit her lip, trying to control her tears as she sobbed. Petra saw that she started to get emotional so she held Sarah's hand and smiled, "You're going to be alright." she said, giving her a reassuring smile. Sarah smiled back and nodded.

Then she felt another warm palm that held her other hand, "I'm here" she heard a whisper. She smiled ang took a deep breath, calming herself down. She felt joy in her heart knowing how lucky she is to meet Clare.

"Are you ready?" Petra asked and Sarah nodded again. Petra smiled and pointed the man with a glowing hand, "Aprroach that man over there and let him touch your head. It's a little painful but bearable. After that, follow whatever he's going to say. Alright?" Petra instructioned.

Sarah nodded and approached the man.

Clare's gaze followed Sarah and saw the the man started to put his hands on Sarah's head. She sobbed again, knowing she's about to lose her friend. After a few minutes, the glow faded and the man spoke to Sarah.

Clare didn't take off her gaze from them. She saw Sarah nodding her head and the other man in black suit approached her. Sarah went with him and before they walked farther, Sarah turned her back and gave Clare a meaningful smile.

Clare was shocked when she saw that smile. "H-How..." she was cut off when Petra inserted. "Alright!" she looked at Petra that was smiling at her, "Clare Willows who died in a a car accident. You're next. You know what to do" she said.

Clare heaved a deep sigh and nodded. "Thank you" Clare mumbled that made Petra smiled. claretook a step and it feels like her feet is getting more and more heavier. Her heart started to ache as she approached the man with his hand starting to glow again.

She closed her eyes and stopped right in front of the man. She can feel his hand through the strands of her hair as he placed it on top of her head. Good bye, Adrian she though. She sadly smiled and let a tear escaped from her eye.
