Zero was looking forward to this.
Without wasting any time, they had decided to settle this once and for all. So here they were, getting ready for their little fight. After finishing their little snack, they agreed to meet up two hours later (so that the food would settle).
If it was up to Zero, they'd have their face-off at one of Nitocris's underground fight club.
Nitocris is the King of the Underworld, who just happened to be Kyle's step-brother. A bit of a complicated relationship, but essentially, Nitocris's mother married Kyle's Master (his Ninja Master, who Kyle regarded as his second father).
Oh, not forgetting that Nitocris married Kyle's best friend, Xing Han.
When Zero thought about it, Sir really had complicated relationship ties but somehow, it didn't seem strange.
Zero took out his hand wraps and started wrapping his hands with it.
They were at a boxing gym, so Zero was getting ready to get into the ring. They weren't going to use boxing gloves as they weren't boxing.
The gloves were for protection - both for the one punching and the one being punched. However, Zero wasn't here to 'protect' Kai in any way. Since Kai wanted to fight for the right to see Lianne, then he better be prepared to fight like a 'real' man.
Not having all these paddings.
Again, Zero wished he could do it at the fight club.
No holds barred and no rules.
Still, if anything serious did happen to Kai, Lianne may actually be upset as well so Zero had grudgingly agreed to Kai's suggestion of the boxing gym.
Zero glanced at Kai, who was at the opposite side of the ring, nothing that he, too, had the hand wraps.
Naturally, Zero knew that Kai had gone for some self-defense training, along with his CEO upbringing. It was a 'given', considering the family behind it. The Elite Five were prime examples of that.
Well, the three male CEOs of the Elite Five, at least: Kyle, Ali, and Xing Han.
The Elite Five was the name people had given Kyle and his band of merry-men … and woman: his sister Kayla, Xing Han (his best friend), Muhammad Ali, and Samuel (now his PA).
They grew up together and were closer than blood siblings, and other than Sam, were giants in their own right due to their family. Sam was the only 'normal' one in the group. The 'commoner', so to speak.
Yet, he was never the odd-one-out.
Zero meticulously tightened the wrap around his knuckles, and wrists, the two areas that required better protection when he punched Kai in the face.
Yup, he was going to beat that pretty-boy's face to a pulp.
Okay, maybe not that bad, but enough so that his face would not be 'good enough' to be seen in public. It would recover in time and Zero will be careful not to create permanent damage.
Just lots of bruises, swelling, and blood.
A smirk formed on Zero's face.
Zero knew full well Lianne's weakness for such features, so this was just him helping her keep a more objective frame of mind.
That's all …
"Ready?" Zero asked Kai as he tilted his head to look at him.
Kai checked his hand wrap and then looked at Zero, "Ready."
The air around them immediately became heavy. Even the ones who were training and goofing around in the gym could feel it.
Their gazes went to the two men in the middle of the ring and as if by mutual agreement, everyone stopped what they were doing. Both men were outstanding in their own right.
Though granted, at first glance, one did kinda look like he would fall upon the punch of the other … but it couldn't be denied that the moment both of them became serious, the playing field looked rather even.
No longer was the 'pretty-boy' look like he was just a pretty face. He wasn't as muscular as the other person, but he did have lean muscles that became apparent when he took off his shirt and was only in his singlet.
The expression in his eyes also showed that this was not something foreign to him. That is, he was not a stranger to fights.
They focused on the impending match.
This was going to be exciting, they thought.

Lianne cursed under her breath.
Just what on Earth was Zero up to?!
On a whim, she decided to check up on Kai and lo behold. What did she see?
The personalised spy bug that she had placed on Kai showed that he was in some sort of boxing ring.
The spy bug was an upgraded version of the fly bug that Kay had designed years ago. This was akin to the fly bug, but it focused on one target only. It would record everything that it saw into a cloud storage system and the AI connected to it would alert the one monitoring on the things it was told to focus on.
For example, if the focus was 'banks', then when Subject A was to enter a bank, it would send an alert.
In Kai's case, Lianne merely placed it to indicate where he would be so that she could avoid him if she was going into the same area he was. That was how she managed to stay off his radar for three months.
Didn't mean she wouldn't … you know, observe once in a while about what he was up to. To know his habits … to avoid him more, you see.
That's all.
[And no, before any of you perverted readers ask, the spy bug would not follow Kai into the bathroom. In fact, it would not follow Kai once he entered his house or office building].
Right now, Kai was not just in a boxing ring, but he was facing Zero. Lianne focused on Zero's face and gulped.
That expression on his face showed that Zero was being serious.
Lianne quickly got out, fearing for Kai.
No, not Kai, she corrected herself.
For Zero.
She didn't want him to go all berserk and cause him to injure Kai. That would mean a whole lot of covering up that she wasn't in the mood to do.
Zero's temper was legendary. He was known as the 'Silver Volcano' simply because he was like a sleeping volcano. When the Silver Volcano erupted, he tended to go overboard.
Yes, it was Zero that she was worried about.
Lianne prayed that she wasn't too late.
