Zero sat back down at the booth, looking accomplished.
It took quite a bit out of Lianne not to be grinning at him, but managed she did. Looking at him innocently, she asked, "So, alls well?"
"Yup," Zero replied.
"When's the date?"
"Depends on you," Zero said.
"But when is she free?" Lianne asked, "We have to accommodate her as well, you know. And as far as I know, she's working everyday."
"You have a point," Zero agreed.
"So?"
"So…?" Zero queried back.
"So, when is she free? Ask her if Sunday is okay," Lianne said.
"Okay," Zero replied, getting up again.
"Wait, Zero," Lianne called out, "Did you get her number?"
"No. What for?"
"So that you can call her?" Lianne said patiently.
"What for?" Zero asked back, looking genuinely puzzled.
"How else are you going to contact her when making plans then?" Lianne asked.
Zero just blinked at her, not looking like it was any big deal.
Lianne stared at Zero, knowing what was on his mind.
"One does not use one's resources to get phone numbers," Lianne said slowly, "Please be normal and just ask her for her number."
"Okay," Zero replied, getting up.
"And give her your number, too," Lianne reminded him as he went off.
Zero waved his hand a bit, and Lianne sighed.
Getting her brother together with Kay was so much easier than trying to get Zero a date. If she had to literally tell him every single step, she would go crazy.
Still, this was a good thing.
The first step was good.
Although one might think a double date is bad, Lianne felt this was the best scenario right now for Zero.
Anyone who ended up with Zero would have to be able to get along with her, Lianne. To be more accurate, the way Zero treated her.
Was there any woman out there that would like it when their boyfriend was close to another woman?
One who was not blood related and worse, there was nothing that seemed to explain the bond between the two. Would such a woman be able to handle it if her boyfriend would prioritize another woman?
Zero was a straight-forward person and fiercely loyal.
He would do anything for the person that was close and dear to him - so when it came to a woman who was just starting a relationship with Zero versus Lianne … it was a no brainer who he would choose.
Going on a double-date would mean Zero would be monitoring Kai, and in turn, would show his protective side.
If Lily would be able to handle this part of Zero, then she would have a chance.
Lianne looked at Kai.
Similar to Zero, Lianne would also have this requirement of any guy that would be interested in her.
They would need to be able to accept the fact that she is extremely close to Zero … and Kyle.
Boyfriends can come and go, but family will stay.
Lianne knew full well that she was very lucky in this.
There were a lot of broken families. Thus, there were many people who sought the love and comfort that they lack with others. To find that 'special someone' that would love them, and care for them.
In those types of families, the fact that their beloved did not get along with their families is not a problem.
For Lianne, and Zero, it was the complete opposite.
They didn't just need to be true to their beloved, but their beloved must also get along with whoever is important to them.
However, whilst Zero and Lianne would place importance upon the ones dear to them, it did not mean that they would neglect their beloved. It's just that they would be logical with the choices that they made.
For example, if Zero's beloved (whoever it may be) was unwell, then of course Zero would be caring and loving, taking care of her. However, if, at that time, Lianne was in trouble, he would immediately leave his beloved to settle Lianne's problem after making sure that his beloved was fine.
Lianne sighed.
She hoped that Lily was the type that would understand this part of Zero.
She looked at Kai.
Would Kai also be the type that would understand?
If he was 'the one', that is.
Only time would tell.

Zero pursed his lips as he headed back to Lily.
Initially, he did not intend to ask her for her number as he could easily obtain it via MIB. However, after what Lianne said, he realised that doing so would only make Lily nervous.
To suddenly be able to have her number despite the fact that he had not asked would only raise questions which he would not be able to answer.
Lianne was right.
He needed to act normal.
Be normal.
Was that even possible?!
Zero scratched his head.
Maybe it was time to learn. Sir was always on his case for not winding down. The other Diamond Team members seem to have found other hobbies and things to do yet for him, it was hard to really let go of all the responsibilities and duties of MIB.
Though Kyle had made his team leaderless, over time, Zero somehow became the leader. Initially, Kyle had made it in such a way that each member would take turns to lead the team when they were on missions.
However, as time went by, Zero started taking that role more and more often even though it wasn't his turn. At first, he volunteered when it was something he was interested in. Then, it was due to 'giving favour' to another who just wasn't up to it and 'would take it up next time'.
Until one day, he realised …
The others were just pushing it all on him.
In short, it was his own fault he became the leader.
Zero sighed.
When Lily saw him coming, she gave him such a bright smile that Zero felt warm inside for some reason. She really was warm and homely, making one feel very comfortable to be around her.
Maybe this date wouldn't be so bad after all.
