Chapter 29 - Let me help you.

Losing one's hope is like falling into a deep abyss of despair. The emptiness that you felt will slowly consumed you until you finally let yourself go. This was what had happened slowly inside Mrs.Chua's mind when she heard that her daughter might not get better and might be dying.

When they found a matching donor for Lily, Mrs.Chua's was full of hope and future. Since matching donor means she could be saved. Not a hundred percent guarantee but at least it would prolonged her life of at least another ten years or more. However, this hope suddenly came crushing down. Which parents would be able to accept this kind of wretched reality?

However, this did not mean that she would not be cure. They could try and find another donor to match Lily's and tried another bone-marrow transplant. However due to the arduous process of bone-marrow transplant and not to mention all the test that Lily had to go through once again was enough to send Mrs.Chua into another heart-break.

Thus, the first thing that came into her mind when she saw Jayden at that moment was "Hope". At least, if Jayden can give Lily a full support, though fake as it might be, still it would give Lily a new strength of courage to fight her disease again.

Her eyes which was turning darker as if pulling her soul into the darkness had finally shown some light the moment Jayden agreed.

Joyce heart broke when she saw Mrs.Chua was in that miserable state. She could honestly feel how she must be feeling. At the very least; ten times worse that what she was feeling at that moment.

"Yes, I will help Lily. So auntie, please be strong for her too. I will try my best to give her my care and support during this hard time. okay?" Jayden said tenderly to Mrs.Chua.

He then looked at Mr.Chua, who had no idea what they were actually talking about, and explained to him Mrs.Chua's request and Mr.Chua ended up thanking him profusely for his willingness to help out.

--------

After Mrs.Chua felt better, the four of them entered Lily's room. She had just woken up and was still in daze.

Looking at the entrance, her face showed a little spark of life upon seeing both Joyce and Jayden. She just had her chemotheraphy that morning so she was still extremely weak.

She tried to sit up. Knowing that Mrs.Chua was still weak and Mr.Chua would not want to make her little girl worry, Jayden quickly went to her to help her.

"Let me help you." Jayden gently help her up and arranging the pillows at her back.

Lily was stunned into speechlessness. Then her cheek showed sign of life for the first time she had gone through the bone-marrow transplant theraphy. The warmth in her heart also spread through her whole body.

Joyce's heart felt like someone has squeezed it tightly and making it hard to breathe for a while. However, looking at the spark of life shown in Lily's lifeless eyes lately she tried to calm her heart down and put on a brave front. She walked over to Lily's side and said,"Don't show off in front of a single girl!"

Lily quickly nudged her lightly and shushed her in silence. Joyce laughed and wriggled her eyebrow at Lily as if teasing her. Lily blushed prettily.

Lily thought that Joyce must have given her letter to Jayden and that Jayden had accepted her feeling. At the very least, he didn't reject her.

"Do you want to drink some water? Chemotheraphy needs you to drink more water in order to get better faster."

"Y-Y-Yes... Please." Lily stuttered nervously. Her palm sweated and turned cold. Joyce hold her hand and nodded at her encouragingly. She looked at Joyce gratefully for her support. Then she said a silent "Thank You" to Joyce.

Joyce mouthed, "You are welcome" to her and smiled.

Looking at Lily's elated face, Mr and Mrs. Chua felt grateful and happy. If worse comes to worst at the very least her baby was happy.

That evening, the five of them spent a peaceful day together.

------

Jayden and Joyce said good-bye to occupant of the room and went back together.

Since her last attack by some unknown men, Jayden had been feeling protective of her. So he sent her home most of the time before going back to his own place which is actually just two block away.

All these going to and fro from school, hospital and home had started to take a toll on her. However, she had stubbornly continued to do so in order to spend more time with Lily. Especially during her most difficult time, which is right now.

"Are you really okay with me helping Lily like this?" Jayden suddenly asked her.

He turned her around and hold her shoulder with both of his hand. He looked into his eyes. Trying to find the deepest secret lies within. She looked at him, trying to see what he was looking for from her.

"Are you looking for my approval?" Joyce asked.

"Of course!" he answered as if she was ridiculous to ask the question. "Aren't we together now? Or is it just a fragment of my imagination?" He looked unsure as he suddenly realized that they never officially going out together.

"Phhmmmfffhhhhh.... "Joyce suddenly burst into laughter. "You are so cute like that..."

"Don't worry. I won't over think about how you act in front of Lily. However, you cannot show any care to me while she is around. Or else she might find out the truth and that will be disasterous."

He threw daggers with his eyes at her as she laughed and then suddenly felt relieved since she was too quiet ever since they arrived at the hospital then.

"Well, just let me know if it gets too hard for you." He looked intently at her and carressed her cheek tenderly. "I will stop immediately."

"Okay..." she was captivated by how he looked at her. She felt like the most precious thing in the whole world in his eyes.

"Promise?" He raised his eyebrow.

"Yes." she promised solemnly.... nodding her head and raising 3 fingers as if swearing with her wholr heart.

"Good..." Jayden smiled and kissed her forehead. Finally satisfied.
