I get to the classroom and looks like everyone already arrived. Do I have to introduce myself again? The students stare at me and I just pass by them and sit in the back. The bell rings and class starts. I feel some stares directed at me but no one really tries to talk to me.
"Alright everyone, my name is Mr. Garcia and we will be starting Magic Theory I. I'd also like to introduce a new transfer student. Luis, please stand up. Could you do a self-introduction?" (Teacher)
Do I really have to do this? Everyone is staring at me... I sigh, ok then. I stand up.
"I'm Luis."
I sit down again. I'll keep it short again, no use in trying to prolong it. The classroom remains silent again. Seriously?
"...Is that all you have to say?" (Mr. Garcia)
"Yes."
"...Okay then, then we'll be starting with our class. We'll be starting with the basics and by that we first have to know what we call our own magic system. Does anyone know what we call our system of magic?"
A student upfront raises his hand.
"Yes?" Mr. Garcia says as he looks at him
"Terra imperium." (Student)
"Correct, why is that we have names, to begin with though?"
"In each and every different realm, there's different systems of magic pertaining to that certain realm. Each system is different and so the magic, while still looks similar, it is fundamentally is different."
"That is correct."
I didn't find that in my research when I went to the library, I guess I should pay attention to this class...
During class, I learned a few things. There's an are within a meter or so of your body that is called your control area.
You are able to cast any spell you want within this area. The only time that's not possible is when another magician comes to fight up close. When both areas of controls with magicians collide you're only able to use magic outside of the area of intersection between areas. If you cast a spell beforehand though, it stays there even if another magician enters that area of control.
It sort of like a ven diagram, whatever is outside of the middle area is fair game for a spell. The other thing is the area of absolute magic control. This area is only about a centimeter to three centimeters from your body. Basically, short-range magic.
No matter how close you are to your opponent, you are able to produce magic within your area of absolute control.
That was a useful lecture, and now that it's over I will go to the armament theory class. Which in a way, is the class I've been looking forward to the most.
The bell rang again and surprisingly enough nobody tried to rush me or anything. Well, these guys are probably 7th graders so they are bound to be shyer than my classmates, and this jacket definitely helps me deter them. I started leaving when a girl suddenly stopped me
"Hello, I'm Samantha." The girl who spoke to me has red hair and green eyes. With a big smile on her face.
"Hello, do you need anything?"
"No, I was just wondering, did you get held back or something?"
This girl is pretty bold though, I don't dislike that.
"No, but I'm stupid and was horrible to my classmates so I'm being placed in this class," I say as I leave the classroom. She follows right after me
"Really, you don't look like a bad person nor someone who has the power to do anything bad."
She just straight-up called me weak. I chuckle.
"You're really interesting aren't you?"
"Define interesting."
"Nothing, don't worry about it. Plus, you'll find out that I'm actually a bad person if you try to hear for any rumors about me you'll see. I'm a ninth grader so you're bound to hear something from them."
I'm sure Allen is already saying whatever he wants about me so if she investigates a little she'll find out. She puts her finger on her lips and makes a humming sound.
"I'm not a person that believes in rumors, I'd rather see things for myself and decide what to do next. You don't look like a bad person to me."
If she doesn't budge, might as well make a horrible joke.
"Neither did Hitler to the Germans when he first came into power."
She starts laughing which takes me by surprise, that wasn't exactly the answer I was expecting at all.
"Have you been told that you have mental problems before?" (Luis)
"No, but that was an 'interesting' comparison you made there. Looks like I'm not the only interesting person here. Well, I gotta head back. Bye-bye."
"Yes, Yes. See ya."
I feel that I should be wary of her... I mean, who actually just goes and follows a stranger for no real reason. I feel that there's honesty in her words which makes her difficult to discern. What exactly is her goal by following me? It should be fine if I keep some distance, it's not like I'll see her in another class.
Now, my next class is armament theory in the Great dueling arena if I remember correctly. I walk to the Great dueling Arena; all my classmates are already here. I look around, there are four bottom entrances and a huge arena in the middle. There are spectator stands in every direction.
Anf in one of those spectators seats everyone is sitting together. I feel the stares coming at me following by some light murmurs.
I may hate him but I have to admit that this guy works fast. I sit away from the crowd on the floor, I pull the jacket's hood so that it covers my eyes and lay down. They're still murmuring something. I'll amplify my hearing a little and hear what the fuss is all about.
"I can't believe he tried to do that to Allen." (???)
"He already looked like a kid with mental issues." (???)
"Do you think he does weird stuff when he's alone too." (???)
"I heard also that he was hostile to Vanessa when she was trying to show him around kindly." (???)
"Vanessa, you should go down there and tell him off." (???)
"That's exactly what I was thinking."(Vanessa)
"Now girls, we should let him be... He's just a transfer student... he doesn't know what it's like here." (Allen)
I recognized that voice, looks like he's got a very good acting hat. He plays the victim very well if you ask me. If I wasn't like this I probably would have believed anything he said too.
"See, even Allen is faltering. Don't you think we should do something." (???)
"I'll give him a piece of my mind!" (Vanessa)
I sigh, looks like she'll come over and tell me off or something. This is really going to be troublesome. She leaves the group and starts heading in my direction. Peer pressure works marvels, doesn't it? She gets to where I am.
"Hey, you, stand up."
I stay on the ground in the same position.
"I have a name."
"I don't care about the, just do it."
"Or what."
[Metal stalactite]
Pieces of metal appear out of thin air near her," Or this."
Did she by some chance get charmed by the prince charming down there? She only used two words to try to threaten me, she's either not used to this or she's scared. She's not going to kill me. I sigh.
"Then go ahead."
"...Stand up or I'll kill you!"
I chuckle, there's another death threat. She feels like a yandere who won't go through with the actual killing. However, I'll humor her, I stand up.
"Really, you'll kill me now?" I get closer to her.
"Stay away!"
"How are you suppose to kill me if I 'stay away'," I said as I kept on approaching.
"I said stay away!"
I get within her area of control and some of the "metal stalactites" are touching my body.
"Well, you have the perfect chance to kill me, all you have to do now, is let those stalactites pierce my body."
She tries to say something but can't. Everybody around us is watching silently at our interaction. Empty threats don't work on me, I can tell when they are serious or not. Now, to play the maniac for a little.
"Well? Will you let them go or do I have to walk into them?"
"..."
"Looks like I'll have to walk myself through this then." I start lifting my foot to make it look like that I'll start stepping forward. Some of them start pressing me making me bleed.
"ALRIGHT EVERYONE! STOP WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW!" (???)
Everybody looks over to wherever the voice came from. A woman about the age of 20 with reddish-brown yelled out to us. That's probably our teacher; time for class I guess.
