Nobody was moving. She was emitting some sort of silent pressure among everyone. It was that and the rules about following what the teacher says. I guess no one wants a mark out of this little squabble.
"Can anyone tell me what exactly is going on right now?"
"..."
No one answered. I sigh.
" I'm not sure! I was laying down here by myself when all of a sudden Vanessa here came over and threatened to kill me." (Luis)
She looks around to see for any confirmation. No one answers.
"...You say that, but aren't you too calm about it?" (Teacher)
"I wanted to see how far her actual resolve was." These spikes are hurting me, I guess I can move right now. I take a couple of steps away.
"Why are moving?" (Teacher)
"I don't know" (Luis)
Just using the same rule you're using to move, can't you tell? She looks at me and then and at the spikes. That's right, If I followed that rule it would be harmful to me so technically I could unfollow that rule.
"...Pretty clever, aren't you?" (Teacher)
" Whatever may you be talking about? I was just trying to move out of harm's way."
A couple of seconds go by until the teacher finally shout out. She examines everyone again.
"...Everyone, you're allowed to move. Class is starting," she says as she walks to the center of the arena. Everybody gets down through the stairs and follows quietly to the center. They are pretty obedient to teachers huh. "Now, then. That was a bad start, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Ms. Higgins and I'll be your armament theory teacher. For starters can anybody tell me what an armament is?"
Allen raises his hand... It looks like he's stepping out to make everyone feel relaxed now. I'm not the only clever one Ms. Higgins. He points at Allen.
"Armaments are our subconscious manifestation of any element."
"Correct. This course is for us to be able to bring out our armaments. Once you've successfully done so, we'll move onto light sparing and the training facility."
That was a pretty shortened explanation of the armament. An armament is in fact, that manifestation. That manifestation comes in three ways, something to attack others, something to protect your self or something to support your allies. Each element can only have one of each type of armament
Based on the armament you manifest your fighting style is decided. For example, someone who manifests a sword armament would fight differently than someone who's able to manifest a bow armament. For every element you have you may be able to manifest a different armament and this applies within the basic elements too.
If you control two elements of the basic elements there's a good chance you can get two armaments.
Now, whenever anybody manifests an armament a good amount of mana is consumed. Once the armament has manifested it will use both nature's mana and your mana to maintain itself materialized.
This was the main reason why I couldn't create other weapons before. Apparently, until you manifest your armament you aren't able to manifest anything too weapon-like. After you do, you can with that specific element but it takes a lot of mana. So it's more efficient to fight with your armaments
"Alright, for those of you who have already invoked your armament, we'll be doing some light sparring. Anyone else, please go to the stand for the demonstration."
We left and went up the stairs, the only one who stayed up was the powerful girl I saw this morning. She goes to the side and leaves something outside of the arena. It looks like a necklace with a thing in the middle, probably something that opens up to some photo.
The match is about to start and I was left alone on my part of the benches, go figure I guess.
"Only one huh, in that case, we'll be doing some light sparring. Everybody else, see what a battle between armaments is. Aisha, go to the other side and I'd like you to invoke your armament when I say go. To make this even, I won't use any spells of any sort. If I do, it's my loss and I'll be giving you a reward." (Ms. Higgins)
So the name of the girl is Aisha then. I want to see what they are capable of. They each take some steps from one another... Didn't she say something about not using any spells? Is she that confident?
"Bring out your armament!" (Ms. Higgins)
[Sword Armament]
A light could be seen from Aisha's hand and in the next moment, a sword manifested. The sword has a white hilt with decorations engraved on it and a pure silver edge.
[Scyte Armament]
Next was Ms. Higgins, what appeared was what looked like lava, it then solidified on her hand and a beautiful scythe with grey handle and crimson red sharpness appeared.
I wonder if I'll get to see some skills. Usually, whenever you invoke your armament, a skill comes along with it. The more experience you get and the more understanding you have of your armament, the more skills you'll have. Skills are separated into four categories based on their characteristics.
First, there are beginner skills.Usually, you have one beginner skill once you manifest your armament but you can have more than one. What classifies beginner skills into beginner skills is the fact that they have no cooldown. They are skills that can be used at any time without the need of mana from your own body, the downside is that they are not very potent and it takes a mental toll on you.
Next, are rare skills. These skills are almost like beginner skills since they don't use your mana but they do have a cooldown period. The period depends on the skill itself.
Next, are master skills. These skills are skills that have a cooldown and use your mana. These skills are very powerful compared to the previous ones and are very useful.
The last and the most powerful, are mythic skills. These skills may or may not have a cooldown. May or may not have a limit, they are very scarce and there's not much that can be known about them. They are classified as Mythical skills for two reasons.
The first is that, whatever the effect of these skills are, they cannot be replicated by your magic. The first three mentioned can be replicated by overexerting mana to some extent, these can't be. No matter what you may try it's impossible.
The second is that these skills take a toll on your body. Whether you feel extreme pain, feel extremely cold, your lifespan is shaved away. It depends on the Mythical skill but every single one has a toll on you.
"Alright then, come whenever you're ready."
The air was tense for a while, neither of them moving. Both of their magic power could be felt amplifying their physical capabilities and in the next moment, Aisha started approaching.
[Ice shards] (Aisha)
Ice shards fly to Ms. Higgins. She makes her scythe spin blocking all the shards. Making them disperse into the air. Aisha gets up close and swings down her sword, Ms. Higgins deflects the attack with the hilt and uses the same momentum to move her scythe towards Aisha
Aish steps back and dodges the attack.
[Ice shards] [Ice shards] [Ice shards]
Again, more ice shards are headed towards Ms. Higgins. She dodges some and deflects others with ease.
[Ice column]
A big ice column forms near Aisha and she throws it again. Ms. Higgins assumes a stand and with her scythe, breaks the thing in half. Both halves fall next to each of Ms. Higgins's side. Aisha gives her no time to rest.
[Beginner skill: Light slash]
A small slash headed towards Ms. Higgins it looked like almost nothing. IN the next moment the slash became several times bigger and it exploded. What? I thought beginner skills weren't that potent, how is this not potent?...
...I see she took advantage of the ice in the air. Ice can either refract or reflect light depending on the angle the light hits it at. By having the air full with ice along with those two columns of ice, the light reflected and refracted of each of those making the light slash stronger.
The whole stage wasn't visible for a moment. However when our vision returned Ms. Higgins had her Scythe around Aisha's neck.
"...I admit defeat."
