The fire crackles. Sparks flying. We found an abandoned warehouse to sleep in, despite the electricity working everywhere else. We were too tired to go somewhere too far away. We can go back to our apartments tomorrow. "They're all dead". I hear a small, frightened voice whisper next to me. Turning, I see Luna rocking back and forth, tears silently rolling down her face. "Oh Luna". I say. I'd completely ignored the emotional impact that this would've have on her. "please don't cry". I say softly.
"Don't cry? Don't cry!" she sobbs, anger in her voice. "what did you expect me to do, all of them are are gone forever and, and what if... if my parents, my parents they could be..." she collapses and begins to shake, her body racked with sobs. I hold her close and stroke her hair. "it's okay, it's gonna be okay". I lie.
"Hunter..."
"Yes"
'I... can I, sleep..." but before I can answer her body relaxes and her eyes close as she falls into a deep sleep.
