Sky reached Andy and shook his hand. She was looking at him but he was darting his eyes around to avoid eye contact with her.
He looked around where employees were staring at them and his face fell. He lost all the confidence that he mustered up to meet Sky.
Sky noticed the changes in his expression and turned behind and froze for a second. She realized her behavior change was the reason for all this.
She sharply ordered everybody, "Back to work." It made everybody disperse from the hall.
Andy couldn't help but notice the well-fitted raisin-colored purple suit which complimented her fair skin. She looked tall wearing black five-inch pumps, a black handbag, and blow-dried hair.
She had a strong presence as a CEO which made him feel shallow. She looked more exquisite than from the memories he had of her.
In the past, he always saw her in jeans and a t-shirt with sports shoes on, jumping around with an innocent smile. She was tirelessly asking him hundreds of questions from brainless to sensible questions. Her change from just a year was too drastic for him to grasp.
Sky turned around and looked at him, who was in a daze. "Did you have lunch?" She asked him.
Andy jolted back to his senses and blurted out the truth, "Not yet." His eyes widened and immediately added, "I'm not hungry."
Sky wasn't blind. She said with a warm smile on her face, "I'm famished. Accompany me for lunch. Let's go." She started walking towards the exit, without giving him a chance to refute.
Andy contemplated her demure from domineering to amiable and started walking behind her.
She slowed down to walk with him and reached the restaurant next to the office.. Neither of them spoke anything until they sat on their seats.
Sky broke the silence and asked, "Let's order, what would you like to eat?"
Andy answered without raising his head, "I'm okay with anything. You can order."
Sky looked at timid Andy. She ordered a few dishes with non-alcoholic drinks without giving him a hard time.
Then she turned back to the man who was feeling inferior to sitting with her in a restaurant.
She contemplated for a few minutes and asked him, "What happened? Why are you looking for a job?" She purposefully sounded amiable to make him comfortable.
He raised his head to meet her eyes but looked away immediately. He replied, "I lost the job and couldn't find one."
Sky saw him sad and remained silent again. Later she diverted the topic to food as all the dishes and beverages were served.
"Food is here, let's eat." She gave him a wholehearted smile that warmed his heart.
They started eating and talking about the food which tasted delicious.
Andy slowly realized that those dishes were his favorite ones including the drink. It moistened his eyes.
He initially thought he would get mocked by her like his so-called best friends did but she was the same as a year ago, warm, gentle, considerate.
