Chereads / Aloof CEO's; Charming Secretary / Chapter 5 - His Wife

Chapter 5 - His Wife

They completed the lunch with small talk. They left the restaurant to go to the office.

They walked side by side and entered the Harley building. In complete silence, they took the CEO-designated elevator and reached the last floor.

Assistant Lily greeted the CEO to which Sky gave a nod and entered the office.

Sky directed Andy towards the sofa and went near the coffee machine and asked, "What would you like to drink? Coffee?"

Andy replied, "No, thank you," with a faint smile.

Sky brought two glasses of water, kept them on the coffee table, and sat on the couch.

Andy was looking at the huge monochrome-designed spacious office and expressed admiration for the interior. "You have a magnificent office. Don't you like bright colors and shades more than black and white?"

Sky looked around her office once with a vague smile, she replied word for a word, "Yeah, I liked bright colors. But I don't like them now."

Andy deciphered the meaning of her reply and became quiet. Sky stood up to walk towards her desk to make a call through the intercom and noticed Andy standing up.

She gestured to him to sit down and made a call, "Lily, bring the requested vacancy list." and she disconnected the call.

Assistant Lily entered the office after a knock, saw them sitting in the rest area, and proceeded towards them.

She greeted and handed the list to Sky. "Ms.Sky, is there anything else I can help you with?" Sky didn't reply to her, so she stood rooted.

Sky looked through the list and handed it to Andy before saying, "See if you like any position or any position which you can do."

Assistant Lily was shocked to see how courteous the CEO was with the person.

Did the CEO eat something wrong? She stared at Sky.

Andy went through the list, "They are different domains from what I have studied or worked on. I think the post in the security department has no qualification constraint."

Sky took back the list from him and checked the Job description. She was taken aback reading it was a guard post. She went through the list again to check which can be appropriate to him but found none.

Sky told Lily, "Lily, ask the HR Director to reach me right now."

Assistant Lily responded and exited the office to carry out the instruction.

Sky looked at Andy and chided him, "You are a Master's graduate, what's wrong with you? Why did you choose the guard post?"

Andy hesitated before revealing, "After losing the job in my old company, I tried to do many jobs, from security to part-time jobs. But it was not enough to feed my family. If I get at least a guard job here, I can feed my family."

Sky was truly appalled. She couldn't believe he wasn't able to earn the bare minimum to put food on the table. She had a lot of questions, bursting her mind to ask him but held the silence.

With a lot of struggle, she asked, "What about your wife? Isn't she working?"
