Chapter 38 - Chapter 38

"Angel?" she called as she knocked on her room door.

"Yes?" Angel answered and opened the door.

"I am sorry to disturb you, but can we talk a bit?"

"Sure come in," Angel said and opened the door for her to enter.

"Just give me a minute," Jezell said and hurried away but then returned with two plates of food, she gave Angel one as she entered.

"Thanks," Angel said and they both sat on the bed facing each other to eat, "So what you wanted to talk about?"

"Oh well, if you pass the preliminaries could you please take me with you?"

"Why?"

"Well, I really don't want to go back to the pack. I want to study like you."

"Really?"

"Yes, I always envied you for getting to go to Royalty College."

"You shouldn't envy me, you got something that I don't."

"What is that?"

"Well, you can shift and you can find a mate that will love you. Me, I am already twenty one and I haven't shift as yet."

"Shifting is not all that good, I wish I could have your life."

"No honey, no one wants to be an omega in the pack that slaves for everyone. You wouldn't want to get up from three in the morning to start preparing breakfast and lunch for everyone, try to incorporate studying and cleaning and washing as well as attending a school two hours away from home every day, plus have to reach home and prepare dinner before six and make sure to be out of everyone sight the entire day."

"Wow, all that you had to go through?"

"Yep, plus incorporate blind dates until someone do accept you to get married. You know I had been engaged a total of ten times already and either the day before the wedding or the day of the wedding my parents would get a call saying that the wedding and engagement is off, or your sister in law would tell everyone that you go on a blind date with that you are a curse. Do you still want my life?"

"I guess not, but if you pass this round, please take me with you."

"I will see what I can do, but promise me that even if I don't that you wouldn't tell my parents that I didn't pass."

"You not going back?"

"I am trying to pass all my course to get a scholarship to go Country A."

"Is that why you are studying so had?"

"Yes, it is my only other option of getting away from the pack."

"Take me with you."

"The scholarship is only for me, but I will try to get a job and find a place. Once I am fully established there I will try to get you across. Does this mean that you were eliminated?"

"No, the results haven't come yet. I am so nervous and I really don't want to go back. If I do, I will run away."

"Jezell you are still young, you will be turning eighteen next month and you might find your mate soon."

"I don't want a mate, well not yet anyways."

"Why not?"

"The male in our country hates women that are more educated than them and would prevent them from furthering their education."

"Let us see when the results come what to do okay."

"Sure, so what are you studying?"

"Human Resource Management."

"Can I see it?"

"Sure," Angel said and pushed the empty plate aside before getting up and getting the text book.

"Can you explain the course to me?"

"Sure," Angel said and started to tell her everything she knew about the course. She explained each topic well without making a mistake and answered all the questions that Jezell asked.

The girls were interrupted by a knock on Angel's door, "Come in," Angel said as she took the book back from Jezell.

"Girls the results are out," Miss Carter said.

"Oh, what is it?" Jezell asked a bit nervous.

"Well, don't you girls want to see it?"

"We are better off with you telling us," Angel said.

"Okay then," Miss Carter said and then entered the room. "These are for you," she said as she handed them both a brown envelope with either of their names on it.

"What is this?" Jezell said as she took hers.

"Open it and see," Miss Carter said and Jezell opened hers immediately. When Jezell emptied the envelope Angel saw two familiar forms which was a passport form and a visa form for her to fill out.

"What does this mean?"

"It means that you have passed and moving on to the semi-finals," Miss Carter said.

"What about you Angel, what did you get?"

Angel opened her envelope, but instead of there being forms there was a passport, a plane ticket which was dated exactly three weeks away. Jezell opened the passport and saw visa stamps, "You have a passport with visa stamp and a plane ticket, does that mean she pass as well?"

"Yes, but how did you get a plane ticket?" Miss Carter asked.

"I had to apply for it for my scholarship. I just have one question, if we are eliminated in a round in Country A, would we have to return home?"

"We cannot tell since it has been years since the last coronation of the king and there were only one candidate for each race from every country to participate."

"Miss Carter, if I get eliminated in the semi-finals, is it possible that I can get to stay with Angel?"

"I am not sure, but what if Angel gets eliminated would you want her to stay with you?"

"I don't mind, she has been my idol ever since small. She always neglect the negative and look for the positive in people. Even if she gets eliminated she would still stay in Country A because of her schooling."

"Is that true Angel?"

"Yes, that is as long as I get through with my scholarship and a decent job."
