Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Raylin's POV

I woke up to the sun shining brightly on my face, cool air brushing past my skin. Something is pleasant about here. It's beautiful and it does not feel dull. And then I realized I'm not at home. Ignore those previous words. I yawned, and sat up with crossed legs. And the sight I saw on the down on the floor was not what I expected the first thing in the morning.

I moved closer to him observing him a little bit more.

His face had stressed wrinkles on them and he reeked off alcohol. He must have been through a bad night. Feeling a slight pity towards him, I decided to help. But, isn't this my only chance? To escape? I have to find the keys first. Besides, the human world has less technology and this looks like some...cheap flat anyway that wouldn't have too advanced measures to lock a door. Besides, why should I help my own kidnapper?

Wow. Didn't know escaping would be that simple and...

My head jerked back at him, eyes widening when I felt him stir in his position. I got back up to my feet from where I was kneeling down next to him.

I searched my eyes in every drawer for the key instead, fearing he will wake up by the noises, but my abilities to see through weren't working. This dickhead of a man did this. Of course he would. He didn't even leave the expensive dress on me, he snatched it away too, not even my heirloom. What a poor fella, no wonder I'm stuck in this dirty, small apartment! In anger, I kicked his ribs with my foot. Serves you right, arse-fucking-hole!

A gasp escaped my lips when I felt him grip my ankle. Was he awake the whole time? Why did he clutch onto my leg? Can he read my thoughts? I tried struggling out of his grip, which wasn't too tight anyway. When I was free of his hold, I made my way towards the door. Before I could grab anything in my sight to break down the door, his voice interrupted me.

"Don't even think about it."

"I'll think whatever the fuck I want!"

"You will only hurt yourself. Put that vase down, we're getting out of here anyway." He stood up, looking straight into my eyes, when I turned my head sideways after hearing his words. With heavy breaths I replied, "What do you mean?" I internally smiled thinking what Elliot would've responded to that.

"You think I'll let you get away that easily? You think I'll let you stay here, where you could get your way out, only by a piece of cheap metal? You think I will sleep with you? You think─ you know what don't think with that small brain of yours." He rolled his eyes.

"Um, excuse me! First off, don't underestimate me! You don't even know who I am!" I pointed to his chest with my index finger. "You think I will live the rest of my life with you, succumbing in, that easily?"

"Who knows what the future beholds, Malyshka." His let his fingers slid through my tangled hair. His hand got stuck in one of my tangled knots and he scowled. "Go freshen your dumb self-up, first." I imitated him in a mocking manner. You will be the one accepting your dumb self when I escape from your hands! Feeling a sudden urge to pee, I huffed and walked to bathroom.

While showering, I couldn't help but think how different and weird is the situation I'm in. Recalling the conversation I had with him earlier, I don't remember kidnappers using humor with their hostages. Though he didn't mean to, I felt...just a tad bit, not tensed. Maybe he is not that of a bad person. Maybe he is following his boss' orders. I wonder who that boss is, I will strangle him to death once I get my hands on him!

I shook my head at my silly thoughts. But who says my assumption can't be true? I wore the same clothes back on, cringing in the process. This guy can't even afford me good clothes to wear while my luxurious stay in his place. Shaking my head again, I stepped out the bathroom. While rubbing my wet feet on the mat to get them dry, I glanced at him who had his hands at the back, and was staring out the window.

"What's so interesting?" I asked, raising my eyebrow. He didn't turn to look at me. "Them."

I walked up toward him, to see what he was talking about. I looked down the window on the busy roads, and busy life of humans. "Yes, they've got tastier blood."

"No. I mean their...hearts." He had a distant look in his eyes.

"Yes, they pump tastier blood."

He scowled at me probably not seeing his point, but regained his posture before sighing, "Comparatively slower in brains, but definitely bigger in hearts."

"They have more crime rates than us." I pointed out the fact. He raised his eyebrow, thinking for a moment. "They seem...quite lost." Just as he said it, I noticed an old man handing an apple to a child from his cart. The mother who was holding her daughter's hand, seemed to ask her to refuse it, probably by the man's appearance I thought. I don't understand humans honestly. One moment, I see some of them spreading warmth, and love, and in the next, some spreading fire and hate.

It's funny, how this race has dominated the entire planet, because we, in the underworld have different races that can't quite mix with one another naturally and have, need to stay away from certain races to survive. What can I say, we're like animals. But humans, can create something different, because they all are same.

Loving by nature. But it seems that they are blind to such a great power that can conquer the world and bring happiness on such a large scale!

I nodded at what he said. They do seem lost.

My stomach growled. He seemed to have sensed it. "Are you going to stay hungry like yesterday again? Because..." he rolled his eyes. "...What can I say, except, you're welcome." He smirked slightly, turning away from the window and walking towards the exit. I had an urge to complete the song lyric which instantly reminded me of Elliot. And also, made me feel miserable because I'm away from my family.

But for now, I was really hungry. "No! I am really hungry! Please don't shut me out again, please don't slam the door!"

"We don't have to keep this distance anymore?" he questioned.

"Exactly. Don't leave me in this room rotting and missing out all the fun in life!" although that might be impossible after I am kidnapped because basically that's what kidnappers do. But, why not awaken some pity in this guy, besides he doesn't sound as scary which I'm thankful for.

He cocked his eyebrow. "First off, I already told you we are moving out of this place." he threw opened the door, and looked at me again with that look on his face that screamed evil plans. "And of course you will have fun, Malyshka. Anytime." Before closing the door, and locking it.

I scoffed and looked around again, this place was not so bad after all. To be precise, this was a 'seven star hotel' as the humans would call it.

Now, overlooking at the point, I am the one who's so ungrateful here. I was so lost in my own worries that I called this a '

***

After I finished eating, which I later realized, my trick did work on him. But then again, he is just worried his hostage might die out of hunger and his malicious, gruesome plans won't be able to put on use. His behavior is quite fine though, and he does not sound like the evil one. It's not that I feel completely comfortable around him, of course I should be careful but I can play.

I should just play along, and make him trust me, and he might, just might let me go. I stepped out the door while he followed right next to me. He said, he wanted me to stay in an ensuite now.

He guided me to the elevator, and up went higher and higher. Until the doors opened with a clink, and we stepped out. After walking through many hallways, we finally reached the destination. He opened the doors using his thumb which he stuck on the screen attached near the doorframe. "This is an ensuite; there's your room, next to mine. So, don't even─"

"─think about it. As you say, mister." I betted my lashes at him again. He just gave me a weird look before shutting his door in my face. I looked around me taking it all in.

I must say, I didn't expect him to give me such a luxurious room to stay in. It also had a balcony! But with a security system that was controlled by him probably. And I bet these security systems were everywhere, I could also see one camera watching me the top corner of the room.

I realized the humans aren't that outdated seeing the only way they know how to open door is not just through keys. But then again, the digital way of opening can might be taken from the underworld too. Or maybe I shouldn't underestimate the lost humans because, they have big hearts according to our 'dear dickhead'.

This room had a queen sized bed too in the middle, with fluffy blankets and soft pillows. I sighed contentedly, at least I have got a good bed. The walls were painted beige, and most of the light that filtered from the balcony, illuminated the room brightly and it didn't feel as gloomy as the previous one. There was a bookshelf too. I mentally did a small happy dance for that.

But despite all the comforts, I still don't why he has brought me here. This all just seems so strange, he only makes me worry more about what he is gonna do with me.

He seems rich, he wouldn't want my family's money. I'm not a hot supermodel, he wouldn't have kidnapped to just fuck me. I tried assuming more reasons for why he did it because it was obvious that he wouldn't tell me.

When you are in a situation like this, movies sure come in handy. I couldn't help but feel slightly uncomfortable thinking about all the security systems and the cameras he must have hidden but I don't know if he has, but what if he did? What is it's in the bathroom too?

Despite all this, I decided to just let my mind calm itself down for a moment by reading something real. Reading has always put all my worries away, I just get so lost in a criminal/thriller story, and it's funny how I forget all the worries in the world. Everything will fall in place in time, for now at least I'm glad I'm not being violently abused by my kidnapper.
