The two were locked in a tight embrace, neither of them willing to let the other go. From time to time, Xie Jingyu would place a kiss on the top of her head, and the smile on his face did not diminish even in the slightest.
Yu Huiyin also slowly sorted out her emotions, and she took a deep breath before withdrawing from his embrace.
"Dearest, since you like me, we should shred up the contract and become a normal married couple!" Xie Jingyu could not hold back his happiness, but then he felt as if someone had doused him with cold water as he saw Yu Huiyin shake her head.
"I don't want to," she casually said.
"Why not?" He could not help but feel uncomfortable. Didn't she just say that she liked him? It was only natural that their relationship should change too.
Yu Huiyin glanced at Xie Jingyu, her eyes filled with mirth, but her face was expressionless.
"You are a man, and I have always been told that men are bad. Not to mention, I don't really believe that any man can stay faithful to one woman. Just look at my father, who abandoned us all. He is such a scum, so what is to say that you won't become the same when you have gotten what you wanted?"
Yu Huiyin looked at Xie Jingyu. "You like me now, but how long will your liking last? Is it just because I am new and novel that you find me attractive, or ist a long-lasting love; I really don't know.
"Therefore, I am just going to wait and see what happens. If you want the contract to be canceled, you better prove your loyalty and affection to me!"
Xie Jingyu was taken by surprise, his heart was beating rapidly, and he felt panicked. He knew that Yu Huiyin liked him, but he could also understand her words. They had really not known each other for a long time; it was only natural for her not fully to trust in his emotions.
"But you will give me the chance to prove my love to you?" Xie Jingyu asked, worried. As long as he was allowed to chase her, he did not doubt that one day she would fall for him, but if she was going to close off her heart completely, he would never stand a chance.
Looking at his anxious expression, Yu Huiyin smiled sweetly. "Yes," she said, nodding her head.
"We are already married; it is only natural for us to try to get along as well as possible."
Xie Jingyu felt relieved and nodded his head. It was fine then.
"Do you have work?" Yu Huiyin asked, feeling slightly ashamed. Her actions earlier had caused that other woman, that Bai Lian, to dislike her, but honestly, she did not like her either.
She was not happy to have Xie Jingyu alone with her in the office, but she understood that he did not care about his subordinate's gender, but their capabilities. Since she was a capable subordinate, she was definitely not bad.
"I have some things to solve," he said with a nod of his head. Then he pulled her hand and led her towards the lounge that was attached to his office. Inside there was a bathroom and a bedroom with a TV.
"You just cried so miserably," he said with heartache, as he looked at Yu Huiyin, dragged her into his embrace, and kissed her closed eyelids, feeling the moist eyelashes that trembled.
"Rest a little in the bed, and I will deal with some business. When you have rested, I will accompany you to visit our grandfather and brother tonight. Be good, okay?"
Yu Huiyin was feeling quite exhausted and nodded her head. She let Xie Jingyu drag her to the bed, take her shoes off her and gently tuck her in, under the blankets.
When he saw her eyes, which were red and puffy, look at him miserably, he could not help but feel his heart soften before he laid down on the bed and hugged her into his embrace.
"Try to sleep, okay?"
Sensing his strong arms circled around her waist, and feeling the steady heartbeat against her ear, she slowly drifted off to sleep while inhaling the calming scent of Xie Jingyu.
Xie Jingyu was waiting for her to fall asleep, and when he could see that she was fast asleep, he kissed her forehead gently, before he slowly left the bed.
He closed the door behind him, his demeanor no longer gentle nor refined but cold and callous. After using the communicator, he told the secretary to let Bai Lian enter the office again.
Bai Lian had been standing outside the office. Her lips had been chewed on until the skin broke, and her fists clenched so hard that the nails had dug into her skin, but even so, it could not dull the throbbing pain she felt in her heart.
What were they doing in there? Was the woman tainting Xie Jingyu, who was as pure as snow and as clear as jade?
She could not imagine why someone as outstanding as Xie Jingyu could have fallen for such a woman, but she was not in the mood to consider the positive sides of the woman. What benefits did she have apart from her beauty?
When she entered the office again, she found that Xie Jingyu's clothes were slightly wrinkled, his hair a bit messy. Clearly, he had not just been working while she was gone, and the jealousy that she felt almost broke free of her control.
