Yu Huiyin was unaware of the emotions that were running through Xie Jingyu's mind.
She had just not wanted to trouble him, and at the same time, depend on herself to grow. She also had a slight feeling of wanting to make Xie Jingyu look at her with pride for something she had accomplished on her own, not because of him.
Xie Jingyu and Yu Huiyin each had their own thoughts.
In the end, Xie Jingyu decided to hear more about the task these thugs had accepted. What was the order from this Zhao Jin? If he had asked for something over the top, he would retaliate against the Zhao family.
Unfortunately, Xie Jingyu could not be seen by the thugs, as it would make them understand his position in the gang, and only those in the higher up positions were allowed to know of his rank.
Instead, he sent another follower, Bai Lian, to interrogate them. Bai Lian was the most senior of the known figures within the gang. She was a woman who had climbed the ranks by getting brilliant achievements.
Some considered her the best option to become Xie Jingyu's right hand figure, and she took great pride in her own identity.
When she saw her phone ringing, and that it was Xie Jingyu who called her, she instantly stopped her training and answered the call.
"Hello boss," she said, her voice, which was usually very emotionless, suddenly contained a slight hint of sweetness. Still, Xie Jingyu was too occupied with thinking about Yu Huiyin's matter to notice it.
"I need you to interrogate a group of thugs. They are officially part of the Xiyang Gang, but they acted on their own yesterday. They went against Huiyin, and I need to know exactly what their orders were."
The woman frowned. Huiyin? Who was this? But she dared not pry into her boss' private life and nodded her head and answered gravely. "I will look into it right away."
After hanging up the phone, Bai Luan fell into deep thought. Who was this Huiyin that could make their cold and emotionless boss so angered and flustered?
She was very curious, but she also understood that for now, the best was to follow her orders correctly.
She washed up quickly, as she had just been training, and after changing to a set of black clothes, she went out of her flat, and into her car, which she drove to an abandoned factory.
Here twenty gang members were waiting; five of those were the thugs who had taken on the task of beating Yu Huiyin the night before.
They looked horrified as they were being watched by fifteen men. Their bodies trembled when they saw that Bai Lian was the one who came in through the doors of the factory, her face stoic and a knife playing casually in her hands.
"Tell me everything about the task you took yesterday," she commanded, her eyes sweeping over the five men.
"We were dumb and blinded by greed! Young Master Zhao offered us fifty thousand yuan if we beat up a woman. We were not allowed to do anything illicit, but we had to make her feel pain. We were not allowed to use weapons or disfigure her, but she had to be beaten so badly that she had to be sent to the hospital for a month of recuperation."
The thug leader did not omit anything; he said everything as it was and described how they had accepted the task because it was straight forward and actually did not go against their morals.
When they had arrived at the race track, all they had seen was Hui Liqiang standing as a bodyguard behind their target.
They had regretted instantly, but it was too late to escape. They did not lay a hand on the woman, and she was not harmed in the least.
At the same time, it seemed as if the man who had hired them had a strange relationship with the woman they were to beat.
The more she listened, the more perplexed Bai Lian felt. Hui Liqiang was the best fighter in all of Xiyang Gang. Why would he have possibly been placed as a bodyguard for a woman, and even be so respectful towards her?
Bai Lian was feeling uncomfortable deep inside. Although she never showed anything on the surface, she had fallen in love with Xie Jingyu at first sight.
She had done everything in her power to become a competent figure who could control the world with him, but he had never spared her a second glance.
Now it seemed that she was too late. Xie Jingyu had already found himself a woman whom he treasured.
If he did not treasure her, he would never have ordered Hui Liqiang to be her bodyguard, nor her to come and interrogate these thugs.
A sharp pain stabbed at Bai Lian's heart. She was unsure about what to do with her future, should she continue to admire him at a distance and never act on her feelings? Should she give up and move on? Should she try and steal him from this woman who had appeared out of nowhere?
While her thoughts were in a mess, she was efficient with work. After having heard their testimony, she sent a sound file of it to Xie Jingyu, who instantly listened to it.
Knowing that they were not allowed to do anything else than beating her black and blue, he frowned.
He was happy that it was no more severe than this, but at the same time, he was also worried about the relationship between Yu Huiyin and this Zhao Jin.
Being a married man was not easy when one's wife had a lot of male friends.
