Chapter 21 - Arrogant Dwarf

Josep POV

Josep Temus

Age: 8 years' old

Title:

Warrior (Lvl 3)

Magic knight (Lvl 3)

Sword master (Lvl 3)

'Err… Is this wrong? Why is my level 3?' Thought Josep inwardly.

After a while, "Is there something wrong, Josep?" [Fernan]

Wake up from his brother's question and remember the few people that stalk him, "Nah, everything is fine. Let's go now."

'I will take this certificate for now. It will be a hassle if those people found out about this.' As Josep urges his two brothers out of the warrior guild.

We didn't bother to participate in waiting for the cold genius's test result. It seems William also knows and doesn't like him at all. From the beginning of the commotion, he became more quiet and only Fernan did the talking.

Then, we go to the Magician guild. During the way to the magician guild base, William tell us that Tom Rickey is actually only a brat that likes to bully the weak especially commoner many times.

He even clashes with him sometimes. But, it was nothing serious since they were only arguing with each other. Hearing this I can only think of him as a weak spoiled kid.

We arrive at the magician guild base which is so huge with castle-shape buildings with some piers or to be more precise towers around it.

First, we go inside the guild hall which is less crowded than the warrior guild base. We directly go to the empty registration reception area.

I told the employee that I want to apply for a magician certificate. Then, I fill some necessary documents as the procedure. Fortunately, it is not that rare for kids my age to apply for a magician certificate especially from the noble family.

After I paid the application fee, I took the test inside the room next to the hall area. The room is also inside a pocket dimension.

Inside the room there is only one examiner and a dummy. The examiner told the rules that I only need to use spells at minimal one-star level from the magician path.

The spell can be either support spell or even destruction spell as long as I cast inside the magic rune on the floor. The rune will analyze the spell and give data to the examiner about the spell level.

Since I don't want to waste any more time, I cast [1st star - Gust], a basic wind elemental spell, toward the dummy without being tired.

The examiner was surprised that I didn't sweat after casting the spell like any other child. Before he comments anything, he got the data from the magic rune and shows that it is 1st circle spell

After looking at the data, the examiner seems to want to inquire more about me. But, from his look, he has already experienced this kind of thing before and chooses to be silent.

Later, He announce that I passed the test. It seems in this kingdom, the magician guild base is more lax compared to warrior guild. Since Rosewood kingdom majority people are more oriented to warrior path than magician path.

I leave the test room and wait for a while for the certification. After a few minutes pass without any incident, I get my certification and the employee also explains the same thing about the usage of the card. I infuse mageforce to the card and it shows:

Magician (level 1)

After that, we leave the magician guild hall and go to the Ex-path guild area. Then, we went to our last destination, the blacksmith guild base.

The blacksmith is one of the difficult and high-sought paths among the others. As we enter the guild base, there seems a commotion going on.

Apparently, a group of high level blacksmiths is visiting this guild base. We didn't bother about it and immediately queued in the registration area.

At this instant, we get a notice from the employee that the blacksmith guild base will stop their activity for today.

People who are already queuing for some time start to get angry and complain. The situation became worse as people made ruckus.

Most of the people that try to register themself as blacksmith are from the commoner background with a little bit of a muscle head as nature.

"SHUT UP!!" [???] a person that seems from the dwarf race comes inside and shouts.

However, people start to curse him and belittle him. During this time, a group of dwarfs also come into the hall. Soon, They begin to argue and curse one another.

As this is happening, I feel I will not get my blacksmith certification and urge my brothers to leave this place.

But, before I can say anything a dwarf pointed at me while saying, "Do you all think that being a blacksmith is easy?"

"Look at that slender boy with good attire that also came to apply for a blacksmith certificate. Just what you think blacksmith path is? A child plays?" Before him slander me more and more.

My brothers want to retaliate and argue with him. However, before they can say anything, "It seems just becoming a meager lowly blacksmith already makes you like barking."

"I guess it is really not worth it for me to even get this path certification." As I say in the prideful tone. I feel offended by his words.

Back on earth, there is one hell of taboo that people should not do to me. It is to insult our pride as Septem.

In the past, we went berserk and almost killed every single armed force in a certain country because one of their officers provoked us by insulting our pride. This is also the reason why pride is the strongest personality from us.

As I said those words, I feel every fiber of my body is screaming in pain because Pride tried to forcefully awake.

But, I didn't care and still gave face to looking down the dwarf. However, my body at the limit. If it is not for my training program which makes me endure a lot of pain, I will start to struggle a lot and scream like mad.

I try to calm my mind by saying to myself, "Not yet and it is not the right time."

While experiencing this pain I keep choosing not to back down and want to challenge the dwarf in a prideful manner while keep belittling him as a thrash blacksmith.

Angry at my provocation, he starts to propose to me a duel to forge. I agreed immediately to him without any hesitation.

He proposed a bet that if he won, I needed to pay him 500 gold coins and apologize for slandering him. Then, I also replied to him that if I win, I will get my certificate and make him pay me 1000 gold coins instead.

'Want to extort my money? I will bankrupt you from this.' As I thought

He wavers a little bit after hearing my response and wants to rebuke it. However, after I provoked him, "Hahaha… Look, there is a shameless expert blacksmith who takes advantage of a child without blacksmith certification and getting scared after a simple bet."

The oldest dwarf in the group wants to become a middle man for both of us. Some people that make ruckus also persuade me to stop being reckless. While my brother just keeps their calm as they know I already know my blacksmith capabilities.

Even though they don't know to what extent it is true. They still thrust me in my ability because even a high level blacksmith cannot even process the meteorite ore while I can and make it into my sword.

Feeling more insulted from the oldest dwarf, the arrogant dwarf immediately agreed with my bet. He proposed to do the showdown of making armor as it was the possible way to show the skill of blacksmith. Then, we go to the inner part of the blacksmith guild base.

Fortunately, the other people and audience cannot enter into the inner guild area which make this showdown become more private.

In the inner part of the guild base, there is a lot of blacksmith equipment and huge furnaces. A lot of blacksmith also can seem doing their job from hammering, refining, smelting, etc. The inner part is very hot from the constant heat of the furnace.

The arrogant dwarf is called Bardur Ironhead from the silver mountain that is located in the Rosewood kingdom. He has stature like the other dwarf with the height of half adult and a long beard with curly hair.

He also has blue eyes and copper hair color. He has quite a stubborn personality and like other dwarves is very greedy over money. But, his body is very robust and full of muscle.

After we arrive in the inner part, there are two smiting areas which are already prepared for our showdown.

The guild master of the blacksmith guild which only level 4 blacksmith cannot say anything about our stubbornness to have this showdown. He can only follow the dwarfs group.

The duel is about forge armor from the raw iron ore. As an Ironhead clan, Bardur is quite proficient working with iron since they lived at Silver mountain.

The silver mountain is the largest supplier of iron to the Rosewood kingdom. So, he is confident in his own skill to win this bet. This is also the reason he proposes this showdown.

However, little did he know that was a trap that I set to him to make him more eager about the bet.

We also decide the jury is from the guild master of the blacksmith guild base and the oldest dwarf from the silver mountain.

The guild master is having a cold sweat and dilemma after knowing that I am a noble from the Marquis Temus family. But, he also cannot disobey the order from the famous Ironhead clan either. Since his entire life career depends on them.

I told him that I will not wrong him if I lose and will pay money according to the bet as long as he judges impartially.

After hearing that he became less nervous and explained the rules. The rules are we will make armor from the iron ore by ourselves without the help of other people.

The duration will be maximum 3 hours which is a very short time even for the grandmaster title blacksmith. The criteria will be the grade of the armor, the quality of the armor, and also the durability of the armor.

Then, both of us get ready and go to our respective to do our smiting. While only the dwarf group, my brothers, and the guild master become the spectator.
