-The Next Morning-
"Carla please tell me you've thought this out thoroughly," Dylan pleaded as I packed my bag.
"Dylan, I'm not stupid," I nicely declared as I looked up at him, "Please stop acting like it."
"I'm sorry, I'm just worried," Dylan softly said.
"Yesterday you wanted to kill me and now you're worried about me," I laughed slightly, "I'll be okay Dylan."
"Are you sure?" He asked as I threw my bag onto my back.
I put my hand on his shoulder and looked up at him, "I'll be back by noon, I promise."
He nodded sulkily and closed his eyes. I gave Catalina some pets before walking out the door. I shut the door behind me and leaned against the closed door. Taking a deep breath in, I looked around the dark street infront of me. The sun was starting to come up; I needed to finish the job before anyone recognized me.
I had used my powers so long ago to change my appearance, it honestly shocked me that Eclipse recognized me. I guess I should've changed my eye color.
I took one more deep breath and started walking towards downtown. As soon as I stepped in the neighborhood, I flipped my hood up and pulled my mask over my nose and mouth. I didn't need anybody identifying me as the person who killed three other people in town.
I guess the mask and hood would be identifiable though.
I shrugged at my own thoughts. The house I was looking for was all the way at the end of the neighborhood.
I started to walk around the neighborhood when I realized that I was lost. Two thousand people, about a thousand houses, I had forgotten which one it was.
"I'm lost," I whispered to myself as I began to aimlessly wander around.
Suddenly a flash of green and blue portal light lit up infront of me. I stumbled backwards in amazement. A woman, draped in white, stood just a few feet infront of me. She turned to look at me with the most gorgeous blue and green swirl in her irises. Her hair was blonde, she was super pale, and she almost glowed gold. I could tell she had superspeed. Two white wings laid against her back. Her mouth and nose were covered by a white mask. She stood, for a few seconds of silence, completely motionless.
"572," she blankly said before disappearing through a portal.
I looked around to see house number 569. Whoever that was, she was helping apparently. I wish I could've thanked her.
I walked up to the house. I needed to take a deep breath. I prayed for strength and to make good choices.
The door suddenly opened, causing me to jump in surprise. The monster stood in the doorway, looking down at me.
"Carla, come on in," he said in a gentle voice. Upon walking into the house, I first noticed the crosses above every doorway. I was confused to say the least.
"Take the mask off and stop looking like that," he said gently, "Would you like something to drink Carla?"
I took ths mask off and threw my hood against my back. I listened and changed to look back to my normal self: reddish brown hair, a button nose, and blue eyes.
"No thank you," I replied quietly as I explored the first level on the house. The front door opened into the livingroom with a hallway in the back that led to a kitchen, dining room, and bathroom. I assumed the stairway to the right of the doorway led to bedrooms.
"We'll have to be quiet, my daughter is sleeping upstairs," he whispered to me.
I must've looked like a deer in headlights. He was a father?
"There's quite an evil in this world, can't you agree?" he stated quietly.
I nodded as I looked at pictures on the walls of the livingroom. The monster was a few feet behind me, "How long have you been married?"
"Hailey and I got married a month after the deaths," he explained, "She didn't know."
I nodded, "Yeah I don't think I'd tell my spouse I slaughtered twelve teenagers either."
I turned to look at him and saw the guilty face he gave me.
"Someone came to me, threatening to killing my family," he explained.
"Who was it?"
"An assassin, just like you. He threatened to kill my wife," he added.
I nodded, "What did he want?"
"He wanted you guys dead, he said if I didn't kill you guys then he'd kill Hailey. She disappeared day after Rachel was born, about a year ago."
"You made a deal with a psycho?" I asked.
"He was going to kill my family, she's gone now because I didn't go after you guys who survived."
"So you refused and he killed her?" I added.
"Yeah," he sighed.
I nodded with a sympathetic smile.
"It told me to kill you and your friends," he added.
I stopped looking at pictures and froze.
"That's not an excuse," I sighed, "With your strength, you could've killed him."
"I loved her, surely you understand that," he explained, "You're here to kill me because I killed your family."
"I didn't come here to kill you," I explained, "A year ago I probably would've but I didn't come here to kill you today."
"Yeah sure."
"If I wanted to kill you then I would have backup," I explained, "Don't you think Gena would want to kill you for killing her boyfriend. And everyone else for killing their families."
"I figured you had enough motive, I slaughtered the only family you had."
"You're right, but I don't kill people," I snapped.
"That's why my house is decked out with crosses, it's to protect Rachel. I can't protect her but God can," He explained, "I'm glad you came Carla."
I nodded.
"If you weren't coming to kill me then why'd you come?" He asked after a few minutes of awkward silence.
I rubbed my face, "I figured a murderer wouldn't live in town if he was still a murderer."
"Why'd you come, aren't you an assassin now?"
"The agency thinks you killed Hailey," I explained, "they sent me to collect you."
He nodded.
"Hey," I calmly said, "I'm not taking you to the agency."
"You believe the story of a person who murdered your family?"
I nodded, "I have a plan to save everyone and I need your help."
"Why mine?"
"Because we're going to create another timeline and save them before they die. So I need you to distract your past self while I get everyone through the portal."
He nodded, "And then we go save Hailey."
I nodded back, "And then we save your wife."
