"Kane can you hear me?!"
I blinked as a blinding light pierced my focus. After my eyes adjusted, I scanned the room I was in.
"Thank god Kane, we thought we lost you!" It was my father, the greying man staring at me with puffy eyes and an unkept beard.
I was in a hospital bed, my sister and father sitting by my side. Ellie was asleep, her hand entangled in mine. I wore the blue attire you would see any patient wear.
Oh yeah, I almost died.
I looked at the bandages covering my arm, and the blood stains on my pillow. I was really done in, damn. I tried to focus on what I could feel, which was next to nothing.
"How am I alive dad?" I asked through a raspy voice.
My father looked away, a nurse stepping in, "What are you two doing here, no one is allowed to-"
My father slammed his hand on the side of my bed, "Just let me see my son one last time damnit!"
One last time?
The slow beep from a heart monitor was making small mountains with a number next to it I couldn't quite read.
The nurse flinched at my father's words, Ellie waking up from her slumber, "How long does Kane have to live daddy?"
She looked like she didn't get any sleep, dark circles around her eyes. A tear fell from my father's cheek.
"Shhh, honey, it's okay..."
The nurse came over to my side with a needle, "Mr. Alister, your body functions are declining rapidly, you should already be passed by now but you seem conscious. There is no way to properly save you."
A flock of doctors walked in, each with mournful faces. They bowed and left in a hurry.
"Woah really, it's that bad Dad?"
He nodded, his arm gripping the railing, "Son I'm so-"
"Save it old man, don't get all sad now." I wanted to reach up and feel him, but I noticed the other limb was missing.
Shit.
I sunk into my pillow more, "I never even got a girlfriend, this sucks ass."
Ellie puffed her cheeks up, "Daddy doesn't like cursing Kane, you are gonna get in trouble."
I tried my best to laugh. The after life huh, I wonder what it's like. Will I burn in hell or prosper in heaven?
Wait, that reminds me!
"Dad Can you erase my histo-"
The heart monitor flatlined, and my heart seem to burst. I passed out.
"Son!"
.
.
.
.
.
.
"Son... of a bitch, this game sucks ass."
I jolted forward, my lungs filling with air. Where was I?! I just died no?
I felt my body, my right arm suddenly back were it should be. I sat in a leather chair, the softness so indescribable I stayed planted in it.
The afterlife?
"Hey kid, what's up?"
I blinked a few times before taking in my surroundings. I was in a small room with all types of posters, anime figurines, and video games. It smelt of hotdogs and ranch. Why ranch?
"Hey, you gonna acknowledge God or do I have to wait?
God?
I glanced over at the male sitting on a couch with his feet propped up on a coffee table. He had a pink head band around long brown curls and a beard to boot. He looked like a hippy.
"Hey Kane, it's me, God."
I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. My hands naturally went to feel my throat.
"Yeah, always takes a bit for the voice to kick in, so before you go full nutcase let me explain."
He pulled down his comic book shirt and wiped away crumbs from his beard.
"I'm God, pretty cool, you're dead, pretty not cool. But, you are awesome, double cool."
I raised an eyebrow, was this actually the one and only?
"The reason you got lucky enough to see me is because you did a heroic act before dying, the whole saving a baby from a burning building is up there ya know. So blah blah you get to have one wish granted."
I stared at him, "One wish?"
He clapped his hands, "There it is."
I finally heard my voice, it was still squeaky as normal. I could not help but smile. Most people would freak out and ask questions but I knew deep down, I did die. I did not need to question the events I went through. Even if this all seemed crazy, it just felt right.
My smirk stayed on my face, "One wish eh?"
God nodded, "One wish Kane."
My entire life seem to flash before my eyes, "I want a girlfriend, and like, can it be one of those isekai anime type deals?"
God laughed and actually slapped his knee, "I knew you were a weeb, also talk about making a quick decision."
He wiped a fake tear from his cheek, "Well, I'll make it so. Just remember, you will retain all of your memories and knowledge, since you want it that way. Is that alright?"
I scratched my chin, "I don't see a problem."
He nodded, "Okay okay, So let's see."
God's blue eyes turned gold, an aura I never imagined emitting from him.
"Ah bingo!"
He held his hand up and snapped.
White light consumed my vision.
