Emma had just been able to gather courage and go out of the rest area when she came face to face with Robert who was staring straight at her. All her gathered courage came crumbling down, her face flashed red, and she stood there not knowing what to do whether to go back inside or make her way to the sofa. Robert broke eye contact and went back to look at his documents, as Emma looked like she was about to cry.
God knows he understood nothing from the document he kept repeatedly reading. He was so frustrated that he kept pulling on his tie.
When Emma saw that Robert had broken eye contact and had gone back to working, she also raised her chin going back to her arrogant self and slowly walked to the sofa, then made an order on her phone for food, she made the order with a belly full of complains of the man.
'How does he leave a woman hungry for a whole afternoon without caring, well Emma was unaware that she had been sleeping a whole afternoon and as the gentleman, he was Robert would not wake her up for a meal unless she woke up herself. The former her had always been disciplined and would only eat after she had awoken and would not like it when she was woken up for food, a behaviour of the past Emma that was, Robert, seemed to have forgotten that another Emma it was currently and the current her would give up anything for food let alone some sleep.'
Emma's complaints were soon swallowed up as no sooner had she made an order, Robert's assistant knocked on the door, followed behind by four secretaries each one holding some food packages from a Michelin five-star restaurant in their hands. The packages were still a little distance from her, but she could already smell the enticing aroma from the packages.
Her stomach could not hold on any longer and let out a low growl which was clearly heard by Robert as he raised his head and looked in her direction, though Emma was embarrassed, and her cheeks were blushing she still held her head high and met his eyes courageously.
Humph! Who does not get hungry, am only human all right...
Emma had long forgotten her dissatisfaction with the man she had been cursing for not knowing how to treat a woman to food. The secretaries spread the food on the small coffee table and went out after they were done. Emma did not even care to ask Robert to make his way to the lounge and eat with her. She picked up her spoon and took out the food boxes from the packages. The food boxes were golden in colour and had a flower emblem on them to identify the restaurant. The food boxes were so beautifully decorated that Emma could not help herself open the seals hurriedly.
The aroma of the food wafted and covered the whole office, making the whole office smell the rich aroma of food. Emma picked up her spoon and scooped the soup, drinking it with relish, with her eyes closed like she had finally gotten some food after going for days without food. Robert looked at her exaggerated expression with a doting smile. He had seen how she had been clearly angry at him moments ago typing away on her phone looking like she would break the screen from the typing and now with only some soup the freezing air around her had disintegrated and was instead replaced by a warm feeling. She clearly looked like she could kill a person minutes ago, but she now had a friendly vibe. How contradictory.
That was one thing a person who was not a foodie would not understand. How was Emma explain that hunger can make her irritated and food can bring sunshine into her life? Whenever there was tasty food, life just seemed easy and pleasant.
When Emma saw that Robert was looking at her like she was a greedy person and selfish as not to call him out to eat, "What? Are you waiting for an invitation? Keep waiting for an eternity." Emma never knew she would soon be eating her own words...
Emma ate the food to her fill and after she had burped and drank some water did, she remember that she had made an order? Well, I guess you would think she would have panicked about what she would do with the food, well maybe someone else but not Emma.
She informed the secretary outside of her food delivery and did not care about the gazes she was getting, yes, she knew what the secretaries were thinking, wondering about how much she could eat because the food delivered was in no way a small amount, but she was Emma, never ashamed of her foodie self. In fact, for her, she would be even happier if the entire world knew she was a foodie so that instead of people gifting her with materialistic things they would just order her some food, take her site seeing to a place with a good hotel, cook her food, but her deserts.
She made sure to inform them twice not to forget to send the food to the CEO's office when it arrived. After being sure that the secretary got her message, she made her way back to the office. Now that she was full and no longer hungry even Robert looked less of an eyesore to her. She went back to sitting and browsing through TikTok and laughing aloud whenever she came across any funny video.
Robert was also, at last, able to concentrate on his work, he raised his eyebrows when he heard her crude unladylike laughter as she was watching a video on her phone. Seem like not only was the way to a man's heart his stomach but the way to his wife's heart was also her stomach.
