Oh god... why did I say that? I'm so embarrassed... I sounded so... weird.
"I just wanted to say, we're going to win', what kind of person can even say that with a straight face? I just, well, ended up in front of our competitors and felt like I had to say something... and so, I said that. I didn't even get the chance to appraise any of them, either...
I'll just have to do that when we're fighting. It's no big deal anyway, it's perfectly fine... That's what I get for not having thought acceleration on twenty-four seven. Well, it's sort of annoying to always have it on, since things just feel... so slow.
Moving on, I don't actually have any plan. I'm way too tired for anything like this. The Tournament has totally just... worn me out. Too many close calls, maybe.
Well, there's not really anything to do... I guess I'll just wait until the battle finally begins. Sure, sure, that might be a bit problematic... well, let's just hope for the best.
...
After a while, our group's name was eventually called to fight. Of course, we did as the announcer told us to. Still, I'm quite interested in how he projects his voice to specific people and enhances it. Perhaps a skill, or maybe even magic...
Not the point here.
Either way, we now stand in front of our opponents. Well, not directly in front, we're quite a fair bit away.
Before I can really think anymore, a voice knocks me out of my thoughts.
"What a truly exciting tournament this year has shown us! This might be just the lower category, but there has still been such promising talent, wouldn't you say? Before I knew it, we're already in the finals! With little mishaps along the way, I'd say all has gone well, right?" The announcer began his short monologue, continuing soon after.
"Well, for the final round of the tournament, we have fighting, Team Ohre and Team Dest! Simple names, yes, but far from simple people! On Team Ohre, they're all such powerful people, yet what's most impressive is the teamwork they've shown! Their leader, the plain-looking black-haired one, has a fantastic talent for strategy, leading the group with such finesse, it would lead you to believe he had done it for decades! And, that's not even mentioning his two teammates, both of which specialize in either magic or physical attacks! With such a varied team, their leader an all-rounder, they're practically unbeatable, wouldn't you agree? Personally, I'm betting on them winning!" The announcer went on, praising us... for some reason. Sure, we made it this far, but honestly, I'm not that impressive. I come up with some strategies on a hunch, and most of the time they only barely work... or it's just luck.
"However, even so, Team Dest is just as impressive! While each person on the other team seems to not be just as powerful as Ohre, they boast a number advantage, with three members as opposed to three! As such, I'm sure they have just as much of a chance as Team Ohre." Yet, he spent much less time speaking about Team Dest... perhaps he really does favour us, "now, I wish not to continue this, let the battle begin!"
Oh, that was quick. Alright, well, it seems the fight begins now.
Might as well appraise them all quickly, before anything happens... wait, what? One of them is casting a spell, just, immediately.
Hm? It's water magic. In a straight line coming towards us, three different thin waves of water come at us, quickly separating us. Damn it, I tried to get to one of the others, but, I wasn't quick enough.
... eh? But, it seems the spell is losing control, maybe close to dissipating. Or, the worst possibility, the caster losing all control of the spell and being forced to add more and more mana, possibly killing them as well as creating an incredibly powerful spell of which won't disappear for a while...
However, before either of those two options happen, another spell is cast, by the one with the blue hair...
In a mere moment, all of the water is completely frozen, completely blocking us off from each other. It's too tall to jump over, and too long for us to simply walk to. In fact, it covers all the way to the end of the arena area.
I understand. Their strategy is to split us up into more easy to deal with battles. It would be much more chaotic if we were fighting all at the same time in the same place. And, plus, there's one of them in front of me. That leads me to believe that Togeshi and Akane are both fighting two people. Well, that's bad for them... I don't distrust their abilities, but a simple number difference can make a fight much more difficult.
Alright, my opponent, the blue-haired one, is just standing there, looking at me up and down. It's sorta creepy... but I'll take advantage of this situation to appraise them.
I activate the skill, a long, thin, and wide light green screen appearing in front of me... hey, isn't it usually blue?

... What? Sorry, sorry, I'm just a bit... confused? I feel like I just read something wrong, what?
They're a slime? An Arch-Mage-Slime? Perhaps they're a tamed monster, then? No, no, it says right there that it's not tamed... then, what's going on here? Perhaps some sort of highly intelligent slime that's not hostile?
Ah, and then there are those skills. Sure, there's a lot of them, and lots aren't race skills a slime would normally get. Perhaps it has something to do with that 'Gluttony' skill...
After that, there's the fact those attributes make no sense. A slime-type monster above C-class should have one attribute from the basic Elemental Attributes, and one from any of the other excluding Advanced Elemental attributes. Yet, it has one from the Elemental Deviant group, and one from the Miscellaneous group.
I don't want to say that I'm particularly interested... but I sorta am.
Either way, let's just get this over with and win.
